Unbelievable. Those wishing that ARod was on the plane almost got their wish fulfilled. A plane (another small private job) carrying ARod slid off the runway. Fortunately no one was hurt, but you should see what that plane did. It was like it created a crater in the runway--a groove where the wheels are.
Wow. ARod is lucky to be alive.

Something went wrong, and some people died. It happens.
If I had the money to fly myself places, I would, in a heartbeat. I trust my own control of a situation a hell of a lot more than the odds of a commecial airline not getting hijacked.
It is far riskier to drive on Long Island, where weekly, you hear about some drunk taking out a little flower girl after a wedding or a cop just truing to do his job.

A rod wasn't in danger....... the runway was designed to do that.

Surprised they did not add the word kamikaze for the Hell of it. That's because it was Lidle and not Matsui who crashed.

"Something went wrong, and some people died. It happens"
Wrong. It said in yestersays Daily News, PILOT ERROR. Not equipment malfunction, not weather conditions, PILOT ERROR. He made a move he shouldn't have been made and it cost him his life and his friends. Luckily no one else. But stop making it sound like he was in control, he fucked up, not the plane, not the weather, and it wasn't the buildings faulyt for being in the wrong spot, he fucked up and flew into a wall.
As for other shit, yeah obviously there are more than one daily activites that can result in death, but fact is planes don't crash too often, especially commercials. And when was the last time a plane got hijacked? 9/11? Yeah good Laura, live in fear. It's because of people like you terrorism wins. Just face facts, Lidle wasn't in the airforce, he wasn't that great of a pilot. Sorry, I trust the comercial pilot, who's ben flying for years over some random ballplayer who had only flown for no more than 2 or 3 days in his ENTIRE life. But that's just me, I'm an idiot and you're a yankee mark.

"Yeah good Laura, live in fear. It's because of people like you terrorism wins."
And saying people shouldn't be allowed to fly small jet aircraft because it increases their odds of death is not living in fear?
Fuck off. Jw

sshole I never said PEOPLE shouldn't. I said people who get paid millions of dollars for any kind of service is stupid. Yeah I said no one shold fly because it's dangerous. And I don't give a shit if you agree or not. I'm fucking tired of people giving his a pass saying something went wrong. It was him. That's all I was saying. But if you really fucking read my post instead of picking out one sentence and putting words in my mouth maybe you'd know that But I fucking doubt it so take your own advice dicklicker and fuck off.
For someone who claims he's smart you got a lot of fucking reading comprehension problems jackass.

There's a difference between living in fear and throwing common sense away.

In related news, a story regarding Lidle's plane. How crazy is this?
Second Bizarre Accident Strikes New York Woman
NEW YORK (Oct. 13) - A woman whose apartment was burned in the high-rise crash of New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle's plane was the victim of another frightening, bizarre and high-profile Manhattan accident years earlier, when a lamppost knocked over by a parade float seriously injured her.
Kathleen Caronna and her family were unhurt in Wednesday's crash, which killed Lidle and his flight instructor, Tyler Stanger. But the engine of the Cirrus SR20 landed in her bedroom, which went up in flames minutes before she would arrived home, her relatives told the Daily News in Friday's editions.
"How do you go through two major things like this?" Caronna's sister-in-law, Lisa Brown, told the paper. "It's spooky. It's very spooky." Caronna was critically injured during the 1997 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade when the mammoth Cat in the Hat balloon went out of control and knocked part of a lamppost onto her head. The then-33-year-old investment analyst lay in a coma for nearly a month.
Caronna had been watching the parade with her husband and infant son at 72nd Street and Central Park West. The plane crash occurred at 72nd and York Avenue, several blocks east.
The phone rang busy Friday at the apartment on Manhattan's Upper East Side that she shares with her husband, Ignazio Massimo, and their son, now 9.

Exactly. I don't think nor said that I think, believe or want people to NEVER fly or to never learn to fly. But if someones a sports star, a president of a major company, etc. someone who gets paid heavily for offering and providing an important service, to numerous people including a family is beyond stupid.
Obviously a pilot in a commercial plane has a family and if that plane goes down family screwed. But pilots are trained to do the best they can to land the plane as safely as possible. They also know when a turn that is heavily affected by the wind is beyond stupid. Oh and by the way, flying over Manhattan with all the buildings could be called into question as well. Just in my mind, for someone who provides numerous things to so many parties, I dunno, I just ask the question why the risk? So now I've explained my point of view in the past 6 pages in just two paragraphs, I never said no one should fly, just wonder why someone with the kind of responsibilites Lidle have would chance it? Where's the sense in it like MSB said?

Lidle wouldn't have had any "responsibilities" until Spring Training.

But who wants to rasie a kid when you could fly a plane into a building, that makes more sense than being father.

God sure hates the Thanksgiving lady. Maybe it's her fault for attracting bizzare things like a magnet.

If that isn't god trying to kill her or at least tell her to move, I dunno what is. Both of those things happened to her in a span of a few blocks, she should move to the fucking Amish country.

I thought Antartica was far more drastic than the Amish County. Although given her situation and close calls, maybe the Artic isn't that bad of an idea. Just think, if this is Final Destination and she avoided death, it's coming back for her eventually. And claiming anyone else who was involved in helping her steer clear of her apartment. The lamp post thing, a inch or two more towards the center of her head and forget the coma, she's fucking dead.

Well, its only cause that balloon wreaked havoc on her corner of the world that she got that apartment in the first place. For all we know whatever she collects on this particular snafu it may buy her a mansion in the Hamptons as well.
