Tex deserves it over Youk, but as travesties go, that would pale in comparison to pedroia getting the start over Aaron Hill

Again, I can not disagree with you more. Pedroia is a defending MVP. Hill is having a fantastic first half of a season here.
Dont you get it? The fans are voting who they WANT TO SEE. Anyone who is voting people in based on how hot they are now is an idiot. Voting started one month into the fucking season.

I don't care. I hope as many Red Sox as possible go and I hope they all get injured.

I think it should be who's having a better 2009, not who has the better resume. It's contradictory to have the game "mean something" and yet let idiot fans vote in everyone on their favorite team. One's hitting 290 with 2 HR's and 35 RBI's, the otehr is hitting 305 with 19 HR's and 56 RBI's. Which one's the All Star? Anyway, Cuba's best pitcher, a 21 year old lefty with a 100 MPH fastball, Aroldis Chapman, has defected from Cuba. Should be an interesting bidding war

Thats just silly. Again, voting starts a month into the season, you cant have people basing their picks on what people have done in a month.
The All-Star game is, quite frankly, a collection of the top talent as PICKED BY THE FANS, who they want to see. There are even less chances of embarrassing picks with the fans doing it that way, then basing it on who is having a strong first 50 at-bats or 30 innings in a given year.

Funny situation last night with the Houston - San Diego game. 52 minute delay due to bees in left field. Beekeeper came and all.

I am a tremendous Aaron Hill fan, always was. He may be my favorite non-Yankee player, period. But even I concur with the voting, cause I realize what the All-Star game IS. Its the fans game, they vote who they WANT to see. Its about ratings, its about pushing the game. No one gives a fuck about Aaron Hill. He WILL make the team, he will be rewarded, he will be named as a reserve.
I am 100% all for the fans making it a popularity contest. My only problem with the All-Star game is that it "means something." That makes it fishy, sketchy. But the game is the fans voting in who they WANT TO WATCH. And they dont want to watch Aaron Hill, or guys having a fantastic month of April and early May.

that's my problem with it...the "it means something" Shouldn't have it both ways...either the fans vote in anyone they want and it's a pure exhibition, or the true best players at each position take the field with Home Field on the line. It's like having a Wild Card, and having teams have such different schedules, playing their own divisions 19 times and other divisons 6, different Interleague matchups. Level the playing field. I think if you're gonna have the wild card, have the old balanced schedule. 12 or 13 games against every team in your league. or have 4 divisions in each league, no wild card. Either way, I'm just a man yelling at a cloud. It's never gonna happen

a very bizarre trade. Do the Mariners expect to beat the Sox or Rays (Or Yankees for the WC) or catch both Anahein & Texas by bringing in Jack Wilson & Ian Snell? and they asked wilson to get out there ASAP, and he said no, he needed a few days

Giambi released by Oakland. If the Yankees had room on their bench, I'm sure they would take him back for some spot starts/pinch hitting duties. Someone's career hit the skids real fast.

Not really--he hit the skids about 6 years ago.
Piece of shit Pavano traded to the Twins. Interesting day for former Yankee losers.

Marlins are putting a time capsule with mementos from their 1st and 2nd Series titles inside one of the columns being put up for their new ballparks foundation.

Giants prospect Villalona charged with murder
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic -- A top baseball prospect for the San Francisco Giants has been charged with murdering a 25-year-old man in a bar over the weekend in his Caribbean homeland. Angel Villalona, who was signed by the Giants in 2006 and received a club-record $2.1 million signing bonus, wore a bulletproof vest at his Monday hearing at a court in the southern coastal city of La Romana. He pleaded innocent to the murder charge.
The 19-year-old Villalona could face up to 20 years in prison if found guilty in the Saturday night shooting death of Mario Felix de Jesus Velete.
Judge Aranibal Manzano Zapata ordered Villalona, who turned himself in 12 hours after the fatal shooting at a La Romana bar, jailed for two months while authorities prepare their case in the Dominican Republic.
"This is a serious case of voluntary homicide," public prosecutor Jose Polanco said of the allegations.
Police haven't said what the motive for the deadly shooting was.
Villalona, who appeared to be tired at the Monday hearing, refused to talk to reporters and tried to hide his face from photographers.
He played in 74 games with a Giants minor-league team this season, batting .267 with nine home runs and 42 RBI. He was considered the Giants' most prized prospect when he signed and was chosen the top prospect in the Arizona Rookie League two years ago.
Representatives of the Giants did not immediately return calls for comment Monday evening. The club had issued a statement Sunday saying it was "disappointed" to learn that Villalona was considered a suspect by Dominican police.
Frank Micheli, president of the Azucareros del Este -- Villalona's winter baseball team -- did not immediately return calls.
