Well, irregardless of Minaya's motives, Randolph had to go. He was an utter failure, and from all accounts lost the team a while ago. Minaya and company were more than fair. Randolph should have been fired after the chokeup last year. And then his wayward ways continued this year, this should have come earlier.
You will never see Randolph with a major league managing job again. There is reason this guy interviewed well over a dozen times before he even landed this first job...he's just not a good manager.

I said before that managing the Mets was a lose-lose situation.... who would want that job.... Oh well Willie, maybe you can push Wang around in his wheelchair.

Isn't he the second winningest manager in Mets history? I thought I read that today.
Racism.

So what? The Mets have had some BAD teams, and they also do not have the lineage of most other teams. Again, you give managers too much credit when teams win. Look at the payrolls and rosters they have. And Randolph choked it up, spit the bit. He has a terrible rep around baseball as an awful game to game manager.

Tom, why are you at work? Didn't you check your BlackBerry? You were fired via e-mail at 3:14 a.m.

You got to admit, the WAY they fired him was atrocious. Managers can make a team win with their brains. Willie was the second best manager in Mets history.
It's not his fault that his GM only wanted one race on the team.

I could manage the mets and be the 2nd best manager in history, so what.
It is funny how they fired him in the middle of the night, aka Irsay style

Its funny to see Balls jumping to the guys defense solely cause he is a former Yankee. Funny, and pathetic.

Randolph was a joke but he wasn't the only reason the Mets blow. He was a big reason, but not the only one.
Still, with that roster, he should have never choked last year and he should have had this team coming out with a fire under their ass this year after that choke.

Not as sad as you jumping down his throat solely because he is a former Yankee.

Nah, he's just not cut out to be a manager. Probably great as a bench coach and what not, but as a skipper he falls short. That's fine, some NFL guys are like that also. They excel as coordinators but shit as the head coach.

LOL - talk about plucking the garbage. Not sure if any of you noticed (or even care) but Yankee castoff Andy Phillips is a New York Met. Claimed on waivers after failing in Cincy, he will be in a Met uniform in time for this weekends Subway Series.
I honestly cant believe the Mets are bothering.

It's amazing how someone can go from being a decent player to sucking ass overnight. Still, I hope Philips goes into the HOF as a Yankee.

He was NEVER a decent player. At least in the major leagues.
Ill never forget Kay, sorta embarrassed to do it, mention during a game that Phillips was like 165th out of 165 players that qualified in the league who had over a certain amount of at-bats using a formula involving hits, RBIs, slugging %, and other sorts of effectiveness. And while this was going on Balls in particular was talking about getting the guy MORE playing time!

Considering the option was the 0 for September Giambi, it was the right move.

Reyes upset with Hernandez's remarks Shortstop, broadcaster have words on Mets charter flight
PHILADELPHIA -- An opinion expressed by Keith Hernandez during the telecast of a Mets game on Sunday irritated Mets shortstop Jose Reyes to such a degree that the two argued conspicuously during the team's charter flight from New York to St. Louis that night. The New York Post reported as much in its Friday edition.
The report said Hernandez and Reyes had to be separated and that the incident became "very heated." It said Reyes had become angry about a remark made by the former Mets first baseman that had been relayed to him by "numerous friends and relatives" about the club "babying" the 25-year-old shortstop.
The remark -- the Post quoted a transcript of the CW11 telecast -- was prompted by Reyes' reaction to a throwing error he committed in the seventh inning of the Mets' 3-1 victory against the Yankees on Sunday. After he had slammed his glove to the ground, Hernandez said, "Well, he's got to get over that. Enough babying going on now. He's a grown man. He's been around a long enough time. Take off the kid gloves."
The newspaper said Reyes approached Hernandez on the charter.
"I don't know why in that situation he's talking like that. ... I just [made] an error and I feel bad," the Post quoted Reyes as having said after speaking with him on Thursday. "I threw my glove down, but I [felt] bad because you're not supposed to be giving extra outs to the other team."
The paper reported Reyes characterized the incident thusly: "He got his point [across] and I got mine. I'm not too happy with the way he's been talking." And it quoted Hernandez as having said, "I wouldn't say 'confronted.' We had a conversation. 'Confront' is not the word. I've had several conversations with players over my career. Jose and I are fine. It was not a confrontational conversation, [but] what went on with our conversation is between Jose and I. If he told you, that's his choice."
Reyes told the newspaper he had thrown his glove out of anger at himself and not in an effort to show up first baseman Carlos Delgado, who appeared to have a chance to catch the throw and did not do so. "A lot of people told me [of Hernandez's remark], and that's no good," Reyes was quoted as having said. "I was mad at myself because I make an error in that situation. It makes me mad, because [Hernandez] played the game, too. He knows it is not an easy game. And he knows when you make an error, you are supposed to feel bad."

Another un-Santana-like performance yesterday! Seeing how he is slipping and all. Complete game, smattering of hits, ZERO runs, no walks either. Too bad he has slipped so much from how good he used to be, huh? Where are the Mets again? Oh yeah, first place. Got ya.

Yeah. It took some major talent to shut down that fierce Pittsburgh lineup. I don't know how he managed to stop a lineup hitting a blistering .261 as a team.
You should be a Met fan with that kind of baseball acumen. Oh wait, judging by your post, you're the biggest Met fan since JoeyFromRowF.
