Cho's going to be mad. Cause, you know, they shouldn't be playing baseball there and all.

lol The Rockies shouldn't be in the WS, they didn't have the best record in baseball, and the baseballs are humidified.

The Rockies were one of the top 4 teams in the NL. Geography didn't get them in. Keep trying and maybe you'll get it.

One inning in, and the clock may be striking midnight for the Cinderella Rockies as Boston is well on their way to making Colorado their bitch.
This series is over.

Colorado will be lucky to win a game. They are so out of their league, literally and figuratively. They are going to roll over and die more than the 2004 Cardinals.

The only saving grace is that Beckett is the only starter that can't be hit. The Rockies' bats should do well against the other starters, even Schilling. Problem is, who the hell is going to stop the Red Sox lineup? Sorry, but Josh Fogg and Aaron Cook are going to get their shit pushed in.
Red Sox are in another gear right now. They woke up against the Indians. Hard to see them fall to Colorado at this point.

Well, at least new Boston fan Rudy G is happy.
At least I was able to turn off that game way early.
Boston fans are going to be Hell to deal with all over again.

It's not as bad as last time. I hope Colorado wins a game, but I doubt it.

MSB was right about one thing.
I remember he was talking shit about the Marlins trading Beckett to Boston. He said you can't trade an ace without getting a ton in return. Hanley Ramirez is a very good player, but shit - Beckett is going to be the main reason there's another ring hanging off Boston's fingers.

Marlins are VERY happy to have Hanley Ramirez playing for them every day. If Beckett carries Bostons staff, the trade is more balanced than you think.
Marlins still have some young chips that may pay off there.

An ace pitcher is worth more than a AA SS--especially with a WS MVP, and his being 25 years old at the time. That trade was a massive advantage for Boston, and Rarmirez has been good there.

They also got Anibal Sanchez. The man has already thrown a no-hitter (yes, I know, so did Wilson Alvarez at that level). The Marlins got about as fair a trade in return as they could hope to get. Do you honestly expect to get an ace pitcher for an ace pitcher? Who knows what Sanchez will be? 10-3 a year ago, and he was injured this year. The trade was pretty good.
And please don't bring up Lowell. Most people know the Red Sox didn't even want the (perceived at the time) over-priced Lowell, but they accepted him as a throw-in. They stepped in shit and came out with a new pair of shoes there.
So no....Balls didn't make a good point. Shocker.

Sorry, but Sanchez is not Beckett.
Sanchez, at the same age Beckett was when he won a WS MVP, pitched 30 innings, got demoted, has shoulder problems, and had season ending surgery on June 21.
True, he is young and has time to recover, but he also may never be the same. Either way, Beckett was a 25 year old ACE with a WS MVP and the Sox completely ripped off the Marlins, shocker.
I admit that Lowell was coming off his worst year ever, but he's a career .280 hitter, who averages about 20 HR a year. That's some throw-in.
Ramirez is a good player. He's lived up to his projections so far. That's the only thing stopping this from being an outright awful trade. You don't need a superstar SS to win a championship. You do need good pitching.
Given the choice between Beckett and Sanchez, it's a no brainer.
I was right about this trade then, and I'm right about it now.
And Boston just won a championship thanks to this trade.

The Marlins weren't trading for a championship.
They were trading to dump salary.
The point of the trade was for the Marlins to cut salary and get good young talent in return.
- Salary dump......CHECK
- Good young talent in return.......CHECK
Is it so hard to understand why this was a good trade for the Marlins, according to their objectives? Apparently so. I mean, it sounds so friggin' simple to me, but hey...different learning levels, I guess.

So basically, a major league team allowed itself to be Boston's farm because they are incompentent.
They got one good player, one potential injury bust, and traded an ace and an above average 3B.
The point of baseball is to win championships. If a team can't compete and has to cut payroll to the point where they are giving away their talent, they should be shut down or sold.
This is the kind of trade that Bowie Kuhn would not allow in the best interests of baseball.
People were trying to sell it as an even trade back then. They were even trying to talk smack when Beckett had a bad year.
Yet Boston just won a championship thanks to Beckett.

Yes, the Marlins got good talent, but Boston raped them still. The fault of other teams is them not having a Hanley to send to Florida.
I bet the Marlins could have got more from Boston if they played hardball.
p.s. Lowell was a toss in. Nobody wanted him.

I'm sure he was, but he was still a solid player for his whole career. It's not really a shock that he went back to normal.

Yes, I was shocked. I never thought he'd put up these type #'s. I just hope they don't let him go & sign GayRod. If he demands a 3+ year deal however - seeya.
To be honest - I thought he was one of those guys on roids & would never put up power #'s again after they started cracking down.
