Funny you say that, cause in the two articles I read mentioning possible spinoffs, both of them affirmed it he would be the focus.

This is a great show, and it's a damn shame it won't make it.

There is no way there will be a spinoff on Jason Street.

True. If the parent show can't get ratings, a spinoff sure wouldn't. What would a Jason Street show be anyway--a special episode where he learns out to point?

Well, in a case like that the only reason a spinoff is considered is its a lot cheaper to make, you get a smaller cast and you are not so ambitious on scenes, like filling a football stadium with extras and renting out Buddys used car lot and such. I should have added that any spinoff ideas were killed off, but Jason was the focal point which shows how much the creators/writers thought of the character.

The link says that only retards can't get this link to work. It also basically says that NBC is trying to work out some sort of way to keep FNL on the air, even if it involves sharing episodes with another network, like they do with Law & Order.

At the end of the day, like the link, it wont work. The show costs too much money to produce, and the ratings are terrible. And that is on a big network, start moving around the show or playing games with a cable station with less a draw as it is, its a waste of time, and spinning wheels.
Wonderful show, no doubt, but its beyond saving. The public just didnt buy into it. It happens. From what I have been reading, and I even heard from Minka "Lyla" Kelly on an interview she did for FUSE Music Channel, she is looking to take other projects, as the cast was pretty much encouraged to start looking for work.

That happened last year, and even if the show comes back, Lyla doesn't bring much to the table other than the fact that she's hot.
Really hot.
But anyway, the idea would possibly have the show air multiple times during the week on multiple networks. NBC would get the first airing.

How the Hell does that make sense? No one watches the ONE offering of the week, why would people suddenly choose to watch it cause its appearing on a cable network on another night? ITS TOO LATE FOR PEOPLE TO JUMP ON BOARD. This will not build a new audience, people wont know whats going on and what the storylines that have developed over the seasons are.
This wont happen.

So this is dumb. The show will be returning....on DirectTV, exclusively, until Season 3 runs its course. Only then, at the beginning of 2009, will the show appear on NBC. So while DirectTV is bailing everyone out and keeping the show afloat, they will run it themselves for the Fall 08 season.
Of course the bloom will go off the rose, the spoilers will get out, and people like me probably wont wait around for the return. I may very well end up throwing my arms up in frustration and saying to Hell with the show.

I just tweaked Balls with this news - Derek Jeter's latest conquest is Minka "Lyla Garrity" Kelly. A known Metssuckballs fave. They were spotted cavorting in a local hotel this past Monday, and now the news is out that they are dating. I wonder if Jason Street is mad.

I think I consider her the third hottest person of the shows I watch (behind Smallville's Erica Durance and Lost's Evangeline Lilly), though I reserve the right to change my mind.

This will make Balls happy....less Street when FNL returns. From tvguide.com.
Friday Night Lights regulars Gaius Charles (aka Smash) and Scott Porter (Jason) will be spending some time on the bench, having been bumped to recurring status for Season 3.
As reported by EW's Ausiello, exec producer Jason Katims had to make this tough call in part due to budgetary reasons, but is committed to bringing both players' stories to a proper conclusion. FNL returns Oct. 1, on DirecTV's 101 channel.

I am thrilled with this news. At least about Street. Not too happy about less Smash though.
Makes sense since they are graduating.
It would be awesome if Street gets killed off.

I read elsewhere that each of them will be given "four episode archs" to wrap things up. And there is still talk of a spinoff series revolving around Street, and at the very least I think that lends credence to the fact that he is probably not being killed off.

There is no spinoff series around Street. That was never floated.
And I also read about the 4 episode wrap ups.
I agree Street probably won't die. He'll likely leave town.
I hope he gets hit again, and suddenly he can walk, and as he starts to run across the street to tell Lyla, he gets hit by a truck.
That would be funny.

Maybe that girl he knocked up will decide she doesn't want to keep the kid after all and he'll be all upset because it may be his only chance of ever having a child and he'll kill himself.
That's how I'd write it. ;D

Holy crap, Balls, it was only a recurring plotline, which involved people trying to talk the gung-ho Street out of his wishes to be a Daddy. Do you not remember the conversations between Coach and Street about responsibility and reality?
What were you doing while you were supposedly watching the show, whittling?
