My tastes are eclectic. In the last couple of days in a couple of bursts I got through a 2 hour documentary on the PBS channels about the history of the Adirondacks. It was a good piece, with some great shots, and some interesting stories about the folks and folklore of the area. From rustic furniture makers to the chefs at the famous "mountain camps" it was a nice historic watch.

DVRd a John Fogerty concert on VH1-Classic. 2 hours, entitled "Coming Home" or some such. I throw a bunch of these concerts on videotapes. Played this tonight as Dana, Emma and I played a family game of LIFE, and as we are now winding down.
John Fogerty is good enough stuff. Although Centerfield is a corny song.

I steered way clear of that show, with no regrets.

You find humor objectionable?
EVERY show doesn't have to be the McNeil/Lehrer Report.

I watch some comedy. Some of my favorite shows include staples like Reno 911 and Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia. My favorite show of all-time is a comedy, Sanford and Son.
PS - not a fan of McNeil / Lehrer report, and dont and never watched.
Just dont find Office type shows funny, and from the previews The Factory looked as appealing as Ugly Betty.

Well, at moments, Factory can be as irreverent as It's Always Sunny... give it a shot, nothing to lose.

I didn't DVR this crap, but I couldn't think of another generic TV thread to post in.
Just saw this reality show were some contestants are competing in various challenges to become Puff Daddy's personal assistant. How many TV shows are going to be based on winning the right to be in Puff Daddy service in some way or another. Who the fuck is Puff Daddy...the guy is a clown. What's next...who gets to suck Puff Daddy's dick? Shit like this annoys me and makes me embarrassed.

I'm with you 100%. Problem is, people love this stuff, eat it up, and keep these shows rolling along. What kind of world do we live in?
These shows suck.

Since the Hip Hop generation is so big on "RESPECT" and he/she disrespected me, etc...
I purposely call Duddy by a name he no longer wishes to be called as my signal of disrespect toward him.
I just dissed you Puffy!!!!! Word!

We gots a doozy planned for Sunday evening, DVRd tonight. 3 hours worth of....THE PUPPY GAMES.
Yes, puppies going at it in "Olympic style events" complete with over-the-top commentary. I flipped it on a bit during baseball / football this eve, and it was very zany. I dont mind the concept with the family, but it may be a bit much, especially at 3 hours. We'll see.

No. And for that reason HBO is concerned, the ratings were lower than LUCKY LOUIE's, for crying out loud!
Its been a ratings bomb, and wont be around long. Dont get attached.

I'm Tivo'ing "The IT Crowd" - a brit comedy about some IT nerds who work in the basement of a corporation. Pretty funny show, and it has that campy feel of "The Young Ones" at times. On IFC: www.ifc.com/on-ifc/itcrowd/

So in the last couple of days I realized I once again get TCM (Turner Classic Movies) - I could swear it was part of a primo pack recently. Anyway, I DVRd a couple of films. Not classics like Casablanca or Citizen Kane, but oddball flicks about pirates and some western fare. Tonight I watched WESTERN UNION. Vance Shaw gives up outlawing and goes to work for the telegraph company; his brother Jack Slade leads outlaws trying to prevent the company connecting the line between Omaha and Salt Lake City. Lots of Indian fighting and gunplay.
While escaping from a heist of a bank, the outlaw Vance Shaw helps Edward Creighton, the chief-engineer of the Western Union that is surveying the Wild West and had had an accident with a horse. In 1861, Vance regenerates and is hired to work for the Western Union with the team that is installing the poles and cable from Omaha to Salt Lake City. Vance and the engineer from Harvard Richard Blake flirt with the gorgeous Edward's sister Sue Creighton and she chooses Vance. However, his past haunts him when the outlaw Jack Slade steals the Western Union cattle disguised of Indians Good film, I planned on watching half and then going about my business, and finishing up in the next day or two, but watched all the way through. I especially enjoyed the performance of Randolph Scott, who I found out was sitting on around 100 million bucks when he died, due to a series of "canny" investments.

Man v. Food will feature L.A. on Feb 18 and Adam Richman will visit Phillipes - alleged birthplace of the French Dip Sandwich. I've talked about this place on here before - phenomenal sandwiches.

Tom, I watched The Art Of War.
Good stuff. I really liked the parallels between the concepts from The Art Of War applied to victorious military operations, and the failure to heed The Art Of War contributing to military failures....like Vietnam. Very interesting.
I could have done without the campy 500 B.C. China reenactments.
