Blake is the beat box guy.
The women were MUCH better than the men--at least based on this week's performances. It's really going to be Lardass Lakisha or Lt. Hooks for the title this year--at least based on pure talent. Those who have seen Police Academy know what I'm talking about.
I like Hooks more, because Lardass Lakisha screams a bit too much. Both are better than Fantasia. Either way, this looks to be the least talented top 24 since Season 3.
There were some singers that were better than they showed, but the bottom line is last night I was giving mostly 7s and 8s when the night before, I was giving mostly 6s and 7s. I even gave out 2 9s last night (to the previously mentioned).
The chick that Simon said sang like she was 40 years old was actually very good, but Simon was right--she sang like she was 40.
As much as I hate that she was a background singer for a big name, I am forced on pure talent to go with Lt. Hooks. She has a powerful voice but doesn't scream.
If I had to pick who I want eliminated, it would be Antonella Barba and Amy Krebs. I don't think both will go though.
Barba is really hot. She'll survive on her looks. But as hot as she is, she's no Lisa Wilson or Katharine McPhee.
Gina Glocksen was good. But something about her personality pisses me off. My gut tells me she's a bitch.
Of the women, if I had to choose the top 6 based solely on last night, and solely on talent:
1. Doolittle (aka Lt. Hooks) 2. Lardass Lakisha 3. Jordin Sparks 4. Sabrina Sloan 5. Haley Scarnato 6. Gina Glocksen
Stephanie Edwards was also really good, but she bored me a bit.
I also agree that I would pick 8 women and 4 guys if there wasn't that stupid restriction.

Lakisha, far and away, paced the field last night. She carried the day and was in the proverbial "different league."
Too many of the girls were interchangable to me. Some things stand out. The bitchy girl, Glockson, was my second fave of the night. She will end up turning people off with her cocky attitude, just as Mikalah Gordon did. She needs to shut up and sing, quite frankly. Speaking of such, and addressing your point, Cho - I agree that Simon's teletubby snap back to Chris carried the day in that little insult exchange.
Antonella was terrible, and has to go. Most of the voters are women, so the looks dont matter as much as you imply, on the female side of things.
Fantasia makes a triumphant return tonight to the Idol voting edition, where the hopes and dreams of 4 are crushed for this year. Looks like a few of us are in agreement the Hindu and the barefoot guy need to go on the mens side. And yeah, I too think it should end up 8 women and 4 men if it went that way, if not 9 women and 3 men. Thats how underwhelming the men were.

Glocksen is not as annoying as Mikalah. Mikalah was nails on a chalkboard annoying. Glocksen is different. Just not likeable to me. I don't know if cocky is the word I'd use though. But there's just something about her I don't like.
Maybe the "just shut up and sing" thing is right though. Glocksen chose the toughest song of both nights, and pulled it off very well, but she shouldn't have made faces and comments about the "note."
I don't think Lakisha was far and away better than the rest. I really think Doolittle is better. Doolittle is a bit more controlled, and is every bit as capable of belting as Lakisha. Lakisha seems one dimensional--loud.
But based solely on this week, I do think it's a two horse race between them. The only drawback to that is that their styles are very similar.
If Antonella stays, then it will be solely on her looks. Honestly, she shouldn't have even made the top 12. When they brought the two women in last week, the one who got booted was significantly better.
The judges did a terrible job this year picking these 24. It's like the screening judges were looking harder at finding bad singers than good ones.
I'd have to think a bit about who I would put in the top 12 if there was no 6-6 requirement. 9-3 isn't unreasonable. But I also think that a lot of the guys were simply better than they showed. I just don't get why people keep doing ballads when no one likes them.
Song selection is very important.

So check this out - remember how FOX-5 was teasing the "the pictures Antonella does not want you to see" story during IDOL? I did not stick around for it, and besides, I figured it was just pics of her as a kid picking her nose, or a junior high kid with glasses and braces. But no....
Pics of her on the toilet, flipping the bird or what not. Pics of her and her friends topless, and groping. All those kinds of naughty shots that come back to bite these girls in the ass.
Not sure if this is going to blow up or not, but it was fodder in all the normal circles this morning, and the first Idol chatter i heard when I got in in the morning. Apparently, and I have not done this yet, if you google her name you can find these shots.

Given that the shots were likely on the web, I did a search for her name on Yahoo and found the pictures before the show was even over. They really weren't that big of a deal. Pictures of her giving the finger? Like I haven't seen THAT before. Her on the toilet? Not really that big of a deal. It's not like she was crapping. Not really revealing.
The naked shot was really not that big of a deal either. Her own hands were covering her boobs, so it's not like we saw anything.
All and all, it was nothing all that earth shattering. She deserves to be voted off because she just isn't that good. I'm still shocked she made the top 12.

Frenchie Davis got the boot for topless pics of her surfacing. Maybe it is a different story because I think she actually "modeled" topless. It doesn't matter anyway because if Antonella is not gone tonight than it is only a matter of time.
I don't think Gina is as annoying as Mikayla Gordon. I kind of like Gina's attitude a little. Latisha was the best by far and I would say Sabrina was second. Melinda Doolittle is good but her head bothers me and I can't get past that.
And by the way. I LOVE BLAKE!!!!!

I wouldn't even consider the shot topless. It barely falls in the NSFW category. Her hands are covering herself.
Antonella is not making the finals, even if her looks get her one extra week.
I can understand the no neck issue with Doolittle. But she does remind me of Hooks.
It's a lousy talent pool.

It's not just the no neck thing. It is her whole head. She has a doofy smile and her head is huge looking. Thumbs down to her head.

I think this would be better if MC Serch bought his White Rapper Show role over to the Idol Elimination show.
He could be like, "Paul Kim, give me your sneakers....oh, wait, you dont wear shoes or sneakers.....anyway, its time for you to STEP OFF!"

I think America did a decent job in sending people home. Paul Kim had to go...that was spot on. I wanted Antonella to go home, but after hearing that last girls last performance, I think she validated America's choice to send her packing.
Rudy should have stayed. He sung that song well, and I can think of two or three other guys more worthy of being tossed...Sweeny Murti being tops on that list...Chris Sligh being another.
So far my favorites are Sundance Head (even though he hasn't done much to prove himself since the auditions), Blake, and Jared Cotter. Of the women: Gina Glockson, Stephanie Edwards, and Jordin Sparks.
If any of those six win this thing, I won't feel that a mistake has been made....inmho.

I don't think it's so much Doolittle's head that bothers me as much as her lack of anything even remotely resembling a neck.

The four people that went home deserved it. But I don't believe that Sanjaya was one of the top 4 vote getters. It's great to make claims without having to back them up. Who in their right mind would vote for that guy? He can't sing, and he's physically disgusting.

Who said he was one of the top 4 vote getters? Did they make that claim?
If so, America is fucked in the head. He's awful.

YES! They said that when there were 2 left, the one that was safe was in the top 4 of the guys. I find that impossible to believe. There is no appeal for that thing.

I think I'll stick with referring to him as the thing. He may be the ugliest contestant in the history of the show. And that's saying a lot, given Medusa last year.
By the way, how funny was it when Nicole got eliminated and when she was starting to sing, Lakisha was about to go on stage and sing too (and dance)? Way to try to steal the spotlight idiot!

Actually, in a few polls I have seen Sunjaya rated pretty high. You got the soccer moms voting for him cause as ugly as we find them, many find them cute. You are rating these guys - why dont you talk to some women and ask them what they think? The girls here at my job think he's "adorable."
And as sickening as this "my sister is better, we cry all the time, I love her, she came up with this song for me" crap is, you KNOW people buy into that sappy stuff. You forget we are just a bunch of doofy guys watching the show and sort of making fun of it through the parts we like. There are 30 million other people there.
He WAS announced as a top 4 guy. That announcement is good enough for me. I am sure he is, I see no reason for the show to make up and fudge numbers. And, again, its a road I dont want to go down.

I tracked the AOL poll, which didn't even have Sanjaya in the top 6. I can't believe soccer moms are voting for him. I can't think any woman would find him cute. He's repulsive. Mirrors crack when he looks at them directly. Babies cry when he is near.
Yes, the sister thing would be something to get him votes, but that many?
Let's not also forget that this guy SUCKED. I actually didn't rank him in my bottom two, so I could see him surviving a week, but he is NOT a finalist.

Where did it have him? 7? Out of 12 guys? That would mean 5 finished behind him, and only 6 ahead. That is still ok. And not far from 4th. Different people answer different polls. What about the IDOL poll, on the show site? USA TODAY poll had Sanjaya 5th. Again, right near the top 4.
Every year there are people who suck who move on week to week. You KNOW this, cause it drives you crazy. Whats the shocker?

The AOL poll only tracked the top 6. So it's possible he was 7th.
Your last paragraph is right. It just annoys the shit out of me. This guy doesn't even have intangibles.
Antonella sucks too. But she's hot, so you could understand her looks getting her votes. Sanjaya is abhorrent to look at. It must take a lot of restraint not to punch him in the face.

True. A portion of the American public actually voted for Hillary Clinton and Marion Barry. Jackasses.
Holy crap Sanjaya was ugly. Thinking back to my initial reactions, he wasn't one of the two worst, but he sure as hell wasn't one of the best.

Forgot to add--Knoblauch figured that maybe the Thing's inexplicable result may have had something to do with VoteForTheWorst.com. For those that don't know, that website is dedicated to endorsing the worst singer possible, and encouraging people to vote for that singer to keep him on the show.
However, these guys did not endorse Sanjaya. They are currently endorsing Sundance Head and Antonella.
So I'm baffled by Sanjaya's result.

The girl that went home...can't remember her name, but the last girl that went home, was by far the worst singer. She was atrocious!!! Worse than Sweeny Murti, worse than Paul Kim and worse than Antonella.

Few points:
votefortheworst.com is my fave website, however, I don't vote for whom they endorse.
I love Blake too.
I've heard women say that Sunjayah is very sweet, this vote for him.
MSB is way too critical of peoples' looks on this show.

Getting into last night's performances, the guys were better than last week, but still not all that good.
Again, Sanjaya was awful. Last night, he was clearly the worst of the night. There was no one even close. Brandon Rogers wasn't very good either, but I think the difference was that Rogers can actually sing, he just made a very dumb song choice. His lack of intelligence may actually cost him his shot.
Sanjaya is getting more annoying. He walked on stage thinking that he was really cool because he was wearing a gay hat. It was obvious he thought the judges and the world was going to go ape shit because he did some old style of song. What a dick. But I bet that lame promo about his grandfather will actually keep him in the competition. He is terrible. I actually think VoteForTheWorst made a mistake not endorsing him. Sanjaya IS the worst.
The judges gushed over both Chris Richardson and Blake, and I really wasn't that impressed with either. Simon nailed Blake's performance. He was better last week, and the song was nothing special with the exception of the middle part, which was damn cool.
Jarred Cotter was just not that good. He's probably the second least talented singer remaining of the guys. It was a valiant effort, but the talent isn't there. I hope he doesn't make the finals.
Chris Sligh probably has one of the top 3 voices of the guys. Another strong performance for the Jack Osbourne wannabe, who does have a surprisingly hot wife.
Nick Pedro was ok. Nothing special, though I thought his song was a lot stronger up until the very end. The last 30 seconds of the song sucked ass. However, I really liked when they showed the drummer every time Nick said the word "fever." For some reason I found that extremely funny. The drummer actually was more memorable than the performance. Plus, I think that's more of a chick song than a guy song. Still, he's also someone I think is better than he's shown. Paula seems to be on his dick about his "Fly Me To The Moon" audition, so I think he should just do a Sinatra song next week if he makes it.
I used to think Phil Stacy was more like Vinny with AIDS. But now I think of him more like Lex Luthor. Either way, a solid performance. He was among the top 3 guys probably. He may not have the top 3 talent, but he has been up there in his first 2 weeks. I don't really like the guy, but he's solid.
Sundance Head--FINALLY--he put on a performance that actually was good. Everyone kept saying how much he sucked since his first audition. But last night, he finally did something good. He was easily the best of the night, and like Simon said, he could even be better. He wasn't as good as DoLittle or Lakisha the week before, but that was definitely the best male performance to date. VoteForTheWorst needs a new candidate.

Balls, you are off on so many levels.
One thing we agree on is the mess that is Sanjaya. But, bottom line, its a long fall from "4th highest votegetter" to elimination. He is a darling of the viewing public, and he will even have the "aw, I feel sorry for the kid" contingent backing him...Hell, a few of them are in my office today. He's safe.
I disagree on Jared. He won't have a chorus of angels peeking down from clouds to join in singing out of wonder and adulation, but to put him on the bottom of some of the fools from last night is just silly. You are wrong on Blake, too, making me wonder if this is somehow personal. I dont know if someone who looked like him took your lunch money one too many times in school, but to dismiss him like you have the last couple of weeks makes no sense, and Dana (and the American public) strongly agree.
Sundance was not the best of the night, that was Blake. Sundance was up there, but again, he stuck with what he knew, and when he has to stray back out of the blues, he may be back into trouble.
You're insane if you think Nick Pedro was "ok." The poll I saw this morning has him right on the bottom. Sanjaya, by the way, is in the middle of the pack. All this said, the second Nick Pedro was done Dana and I looked at one another and agreed, it sucked. He'll be gone. Dont know what exactly you are thinking or watching, but whatever....
You also seem to be stuck on Chris Sligh cause he has cracked some jokes. He was good, ok, but at this point in all due respect I think he can come out and make farting noise with his arms and you would put him in the top 2.
The annoying thing with Chris Richardson is his odd dancing and moving around as he sings. It makes people uncomfortable. And, not sure if any of you are catching this, but Jared has a habit of making "humping" gestures when he sings his songs, and the judges even alluded to it last night.

Jared was off key on half his notes. Don't like him. Simon was spot on with Blake.
It's not that Blake wasn't good, but he's NOT on the level of some of the others and was not one of the best last night. His week 1 performance was simply better. But like I said, the middle of his song, when he did the whole beat box/scat thing, was incredible.
I can totally see Nick Pedro getting the boot. Don't get me wrong. But I still put him ahead of Jarred Cotter, Brandon Rogers, Sanjaya and AJ--at least last night.
If I were ranking for the finals, I think Rogers is better.
I'm not the one stuck on Sligh's jokes. You are. You can't seem to get over that the guy can actually sing. I think you have something against fat people. Terrible.
I will also add that someone making fart noises would be more entertaining than watching Sanjaya.
The AOL poll currently ranks as follows:
Blake Chris Sligh Chris Richardson Phil Stacey Brandon Rogers Jarrod Cotter
