Jeez, the kid said he never hugs his parents, but then hugs some dude he's known for 3 minutes
That is because that was a guy and his mom is a woman...I said that the minute it happened.... ;D

I also was shocked they crammed last night into one show..I thought it would be at least two and the whole part at the end with the 3 rooms was a bit rushed.......I guess after tonight I bid adieu to Idol until next season though I am sure I may check in from time to time on commercials of other programming I will be watching at that time to see what's up....

Interesting choices from the top 24. Some good choices, some bad ones. I can't believe the smoking hot Cindy Crawford lookalike made it over the other chick at the end. All she has is those looks. She's just not that good. I'll be surprised if she makes the top 12.
What a shock about the two professional background singers making the top 24. I don't like it, but I will admit that they are talented enough to make the top 12.
The hindu guy should not have made it--especially over the guy who ended up being cut at the end. I don't like the hindu guy, especially because I think the only reason he made it was because of the novelty of having a hindu guy.
Paul Kim was pretty good, though I don't like the underwear/barefoot superstition.
Sundance Head is getting funnier by the minute, and he's not even doing anything funny. I think he'll make the top 12, but unless he changes things around, he's not winning this thing despite being an early favorite. Still, he gets points for being unintentionally entertaining for no reason whatsoever.
Chris Sligh will have to fuck up royally to not make the top 12. He has both talent and likeability.
The beat box guy is going to be interesting. He can sing and the beat box thing was really cool, but I honestly can't say how good he is because I don't remember.
Gina Glocksen is pretty good too.
I don't like Lakisha Jones. Too Nell Carterish. Why is it they pick some fat chick every year and laud praises on her? Stop with the fat chicks. She'll make the top 12 because fat ugly chicks with talent usually do. Plus, I can't stand her, so she has to stay just to annoy me. I bet Tom likes her.
Should be interesting.

Bailey Brown kinda reminded me of Kelly Pickler. What's Pickler up to these days?

Pickler is most likely giving some record execs head in hopes to sign a deal.

Um, Pickler already has an album released called "Small Town Girl", its gone gold, and she was the best selling debuting solo country artist last year. This for an album not released until Halloween, with most of the year over... Her debut album landed at #9 on the Billboard Top 200 and topped the Country Album Chart selling 79,000 copies in its first week. On top of this, the album was critically acclaimed. She will also be opening up for Brad Paisley, a country monolith, in the coming year, and starring in her own sitcom being developed by 20th Century Fox. I would say she is doing pretty well for herself. Here is her stunning video for "Red High Heels." www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vk084ULrMnQ

Wow, I had no idea Pickler was doing well. Elliott's album will be out soon, will be interesting to see how he does.

Pickler was also on just now, singing away during the pre-race for the Busch series race at Daytona today. Her hair is all short. She also recently had stints filling in as a cohost on The View, so she's making the rounds.

It's #11. It started off #2. And that's the overall charts. Pickler's album never hit higher than 9, and is currently at #84.
So like I was saying, she's nowhere near as good as McPheever.

In numbers sold, Pickler outsold McPhee for the first week. The ranking means nothing.

Ok, couple of observations.
A lot of sleepy crap tonight. Its amazing that after all these years people still dont realize that stuff does not work unless you nail it in awe-inspiring fashion.
Ok, my favorites tonight were Blake (who was excellent) and as a sleeper, I liked Jared. Sundance I liked, but I am biased towards the song, and looking at it from the outside - not a good pick. But I liked it.
Sanjaya has to go. Enough of his story, enough of his sister picking that song, which was a disaster in the making for him. Paul Kim and his bare feet have to go as well. He was terrible. In fact, a bunch of guys were terrible. 2 of them have to go, I think 4 or 5 are worthy of it.
Oh, one more thing - it was only a matter of time before Chris' wit went from funny to grating. He went for one joke too many. Simon did not even bury him, and he went for a teletubbies joke that crashed hard. And it pissed off Simon. It was a shot (irregardless of the fact that teletubbies made a lot of people a TON of money) - you can see after he made the crack he got all nervous, and his voice was cracking in further comments. Painful to watch for him, I know all about bombing jokes.
Well, thats that. As long as Jared and Blake stick around, I'm cool. I hope Sundance stays too. Overall - bad show tonight.

I wouldn't call ANYONE "excellent." I have never been so underwhelmed by so many singers in a row. Chris Sligh was in the top 2 on the night, bad joke notwithstanding. But on a scale of 1-10, I only give Chris' performance an 8. Most of the performances were 7s and 6s. Paul Kim was the worst of the night, getting a 5.
Simon echoed a lot of my thoughts, and I was actually thinking the same thing when Sanjaya was singing, "I don't want to bore you with this." I was bored.
I listened to these guys and tried to compare them with other talented singers from Idol--people we actually hear on the radio today. Garbage. There were no Taylor Hicks', Clay Aikens, or Chris Daughtreys here. Not even close.
I can't see any of these guys winning anything based on the performances last night.
There had better be at least one decent female, or this will be the worst season ever. It's shaping up to compete with Season 3 for that honor.
Sanjaya wasn't as bad as the judges made out, but holy crap is he annoying. He's like a male Mikalah Gordon. The more he sang, the more I wanted to punch him in the face. He also looks like a hindu Leif Garrett.
I enjoyed the judges ripping him apart, even if I do think they went overboard. But that said, I really hope he gets eliminated.
Blake is decent, and what I liked was that he was smart enough NOT to beat box with that performance. If he chose to do that, he would have been ripped by Simon. Instead, that decision actually got him some praise. He should make the finals.
I was not impressed with Sundance. He was out of tune the whole song.
Bottom line is this--the show was boring and underwhelming. The chicks had better be better.

I wont dismiss this whole class of clowns on one show, like you are doing. Again, a lot of it has to do with bad song choices. I am sure next week will be a step up.
You're insane if you think Chris was an 8 of 10, and I dont even think he was top 2. Again, you are being blinded by someone you think is funny - you "fell for it" and its ridiculous.
As to Blake and his beat-boxing, Simon rightfully told him to shelve it, but Randy was sort of coaxing it on. I agree in that he needs to stay away from it, especially as his singing voice is strong.
From all accounts, Kim is gone. Question is who goes with him. I hope Sanjaya goes, but I doubt it.

Thing is, bad song choices are a sign of stupidity. It's rare that these people will suddenly come back with something good.
NONE of them were worthy of winning this competition. They all were mediocre at best. If you take the best of all the seasons, not one of them would even make the top 24.
All those auditions, 100000 people, and THIS was the top 12? Awful.
I admit that they've done better in previous auditions, and possibly could have a shot at redemption. But holy crap they sucked last night.
Sanjaya has to go. He's almost like a Hindu Jonathan from Who's the Boss.
Yeah, Chris is funny. But he also outsung the pack yesterday. But that's not saying ANYTHING because the pack sucked. I'll admit that the 8 was generous. I only gave him that 8 because I was giving out 7s to the rest of the boring pack.
Talent shines. Last night, no one shined.
Compare this to say, Bo Bice's first performance in the top 24. Immediately he established himself with Drift Away to the point where I remember it 2 years later. 2 years from now, all I will remember about last night is that 12 guys were boring.

I think Paul Kim and Rudy Cardenas are gone tomorrow. I agree that Blake was very good and I wasn't totally impressed with Chris Sligh. I also thought that Chris Richardson was pretty good.
I think that Randy & Paula are hypocrites. Blake was in a no-win situation with Randy. Since he didn't do a beat-box, Randy wanted to hear it. However, if he broke into a beat box durinmg his song, Randy would've said he needed to break away from that and not be a one-trick pony. Paula does the same thing. Sometimes they say that people should stick to what they do best, but when they do, she & Randy tell them that they are being one-dimensional and need to show a different side. It confuses the hell out of the contestants.
Simon is the only one that has a clue.

Sanjaya has a face that just says, "punch me." Thing is, I can't see the first Asian AND the first Hindu being voted off in the SAME week. I doubt the producers will allow that.
I think a LOT of these people are better than they showed last night. But that doesn't excuse last night. The group was terrible as a whole.
I really hope the women are better.

Camera work, lighting, order of singing--all factor into it. Do you really believe that Sanjaya was one of the 12 best men out of 100000? I bet if you took a random Yankee Stadium crowd, and made them all sing, he wouldn't make the top 12 of THAT list.

I said nothing in regards to how they profile people, the order, the lighting, the band, or any of it. It goes on, I dont care, its a tv show, they present who they want, how they want.
I am talking about voting numbers, or rigging eliminations after the votes come in. I dont want to hear it.

Just caught up on the men tonight:
My fave Sundance did not sing well. However I think he's safe given that Sanjaya and the barefoot Asian were horrible. They should rightfully be the ones to go. Is it just me or are a lot of them men singing in an annoying high pitch, "breathy" tone?

Who's Blake - is he the kid from Long Island, last name Cotter?
He's a good singer, but the best thing about him is his attitude. He's always able to gracefully accept compliments, and take Simon's criticisms positively without being snotty about it.
Speaking of snotty, am I the only one who thought Simon came away with the better insult on that exchange with the fat Chris - telling him he could BE a teletubby?
