Justin ...... I don't know what I have to do to get you to bet me a bottle ..... should I give you more than the 100 points that your team is ahead of mine Let's bet head to head.....PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS..... and that goes to Larry also..... the only one of the the trio with balls is Tom.... at least he bets... Justin how many times do I have to tell you the same thing This must be the 4th or 5th time .... As for the trade I don't care either way.... I really think that Doumit may turn out to be special this year but I accepted the trade anyway.... like I said I don't care ...... as a matter of fact if my protest counts make it the 5th and kill the trade allready..... what do you think that Milton is trying to help me?

Why would I do that? I've already invested enough money in this league. Why would I bet more? I've already had one pitcher go down for a month and a half. Who knows what will happen to my team. No guarantees.
Except for one: Your team fucking sucks.

They say over the course of a season of MLB, there are enough games so that a player ends up exactly where he should be statistically. Given enough time, a .300 hitter will hit .300, a pitcher will have the right ERA and Ks, and so on.
Maybe that's what's happening with Laura's team right now. After a horrific start to the season, she's having a very good session. She's still in a huge hole of course, but she's actually less than 5 points behind Suzy for the session lead and actually has a shot this session.
Suzy has expanded her lead on top of the standings by another 100 points since the start of Session 4 just one week ago.
Tom and Justin are also competing for this session.
I'm sure the league would like to see someone else win some money, but only time will tell how badly.
Suzy--395.67 Laura--391.33 Justin--367.33 Tom--345.33 Knoblauch--318.67 Neil--294.67 Pops--287.33 Jose--285.67 Evan--284 Milton--237.33 Larry--235.33 Capone--231

While pondering the irony of someone calling someone else gay and, at the same time, discussing their testicles...
I'm not sure why my manhood is being called into question. I made a statement that seems to be holding up pretty well thus far. If I'm wrong, prove me wrong. But your team, as it stands now, fucking sucks. I'm not saying my team is the best by any stretch. But your team is garbage. You want to bet? Ok....I bet you don't win the league. There you have it. Take it or leave it, Testicle Boy.
ETA: Your team still fucking sucks. One-year wonder.

I'm guessing that Jose is looking for another bottle cause he owes Milton a few drinks for at least trying to help out his sorry team by donating him players.

Justin .... as I said NO COJONES..... talk the talk, that's all you do... the only 2 time champion..... wow.... not being sure if you can beat a sorry ass team like mine..... again weak or gay.... you pick You see, in the other side of the puddle you back up what you say, specially if you say it everyday, obviously that is not the case here.... make all your stupid statements "I'll bet you you don't win the league" ..... I told you a few weeks ago I think Suzy is going to win this thing and MY TEAM WILL BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR 2 TIME CHAMPION.... that's all .... your team against mine..... my team really, really, really, really sucks.....YOU GOT NOTHING TO LOSE.... I'M GIVING YOU THAT BOTTLE....PICK THE NAME !!!! Larry same shit applies to you.... and you should know how it feels to be second to last.... ISN'T THAT WERE YOU FINISHED LAST YEAR ? You too pick the bottle or shut your mouth..... And by the way you right about testicle boy.... I have 2 of them, not too big not too small, but I never, never back down from something I say...... And Tom (As I said the other day...the only one of the trio with balls), before you open your mouth why don't you look at the numbers..... Drew wouldn't make OF and I got 2 catchers with as many points as Paulino...... Justin ..... I almost forgot ..... you made the comment that made me actually put some effort into the league year.... while Tom was figuring out who was going to be in the league you said "I hope Jose is in the league, he is EASY MONEY".... thanks Justin

And you were easy money for 4 years. It's about time you actually sacked up and paid some fucking attention. Or maybe last year was a fluke. Sure seems that way so far.
How are you doing in all-time earnings, by the way? Two-time champion may be malarky, but I know I'm way on the positive side of the ledger.
That's another reason I won't bet. I've already taken too much of your money over the years.
And way to be carrying 2 catchers. Just one of the many reasons your team is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasuraaaaaaa!!!!!

What a difference a session makes. Laura has made up a tremendous amount of ground on Neil and Jose and actually is only 106 points behind 11th place. Not a major accomplishment of course, but considering she had been well over 200 points out at the start of the session, the talk of her relegation may be premature.
Good thing she has Pujols.
Neil gets the booby prize last night, with Wakefield leading his team to a -6 overall. Fairly tight in the overalls, as 100 points separates 3rd through 9th.
Capone is getting the hard luck award. I think he set a record for most guys on the DL at the same time. It was at 7, but now it's at 6.
Geez.
Suzy--425.67 Laura--411.33 Justin--374.33 Tom--363.33 Knoblauch--354.67 Pops--323 Evan--308 Jose--304.67 Neil--288.67 Milton--261.67 Larry--256.33 Capone--243

Justin maybe you should quit next year (if you don't finish last this year) before you give it all back..... We all know that fantasy sports is 90% luck, so all that proves is that you were lucky twice and I was lucky once.... when I selected Papelbon with the 25th round?? pick last year, I didn't know he was going to be such a great closer, so it was luck. The same way you probably lucked out with some of your moves the years you won, so I don't really want to hear it.... And the ultimate proof that this is 90% luck.... I (not you) HAVE WON THE LAST 3 LEAGUES IN SECTION 39.....2005 football, 2006 Baseball and 2006 football. And I couldn't name you 1 wide receiver on half the teams in the NFL. Back to Back to Back and if Suzy's team gets like 6 players on the DL at the same time who knows? And by the way thanks again for saving me some of my money..... And I think Basura is your middle infielders last name .....lol

I did not play Section 39 football last season.
But know that head-to-head football (or baseball) is a lot more luck than a yearly baseball points league is. I mean, shit...I won my playoff semifinal last year in my money league with fucking Ron Dayne as my feature back. Head-to-head means anything can happen any week. A yearly points league is a much better indication of how good someone is at this thing we do.
But baseball? Nah...it's a lot more research than you think. You don't get lucky twice. I must be doing something right.
You did good research last year. You were on top of pickups, you drafted well, etc. It's like you didn't even do your research this year. Like the first four years. Blows my mind. But hey...thanks for the donation.
I didn't luck out with moves the year I won. I won the first year, because I knew how to play fantasy baseball better than anyone else, because I had been playing a long time. As people got more experienced, it became more difficult. The second time I won was not because I got lucky on a move. Luck had nothing to do with getting Brad Lidge and Johan Santana.
I know what the fuck I'm doing. And you? You draft Bernie Williams. 'Nuff said.
And by the way...I could go without winning so much as a session for the next few years and still end up on the plus side of the ledger. Stick that in your huevos and scramble them.

So here I am, with some sort of infintessimal chance of pulling of a session with my team of slackers, and all night I am ahead of Suzy, but she has Rich Hill and Jake Peavy on the mound, going against each other...
I closed the window for a couple of hours and just checked back... Suzy has lapped me and has some ridiculous amount of points & I click on her team to see who threw a perefect game, and she has Rich Hill tossing TWENTY-FIVE innings...
I don't even get any help when the live stats go all screwy. Some people just got it all this year.

"Eggs" is, indeed, the literal translation for "huevos." However the term tends to mean something else in Spanish slang.
And I'd like to congratulate myself for having the huevos to bench Mike Mussina this week in favor of Jorge Sosa. Mike Mussina was rocked by the Red Sox to the tune of a -8 on my bench, while Sosa's stellar performance vs. the Braves garnered me a cool -7. Ok, terrific.
That said, I think I actually like my chances of maybe pulling out this session. At the very least, I'll still be competitive with 4 starters left. Certainly helps that Suzy got 3 points combined out of Hamels and Hill.

Just a reminder that I'm going to need people to e-mail the overall standings on Sunday. Sunday's the only day I need because it's a session ender.
You can't just cut and paste the standings on the main page this year. Kind of a pain in the ass, but Yahoo doesn't show fractional points. You need to click on FULL STANDINGS, and cut and paste THAT.
When I update the overall standings during the week, I do that, and just delete all the categories that are not the totals.
So far Suzy's volunteered to help, but I'd like to see backup in case she gets caught up with something else.
If I don't get accurate standings for Sunday, the session will be considered over as of Friday morning--the last day I post an update before I go.
I'm still hoping I'll get some computer access while I'm down there, but it's not a guarantee.
On to the night...
Capone and Jose both got 88 points on the night. Neil and Evan got the low scores with 22. Things are happening in pairs.
Kudos to Larry, the heavy preseason favorite, for climbing back into third place after a dismal start of the session. Tom, who came in second in 2005, is in 5th place right now, but he's also climbed back in the hunt after a horrible couple of weeks.
Suzy--465.67 Laura--439.33 Tom--404.33 Knoblauch--402.67 Justin--401.33 Jose--393 Pops--376.33 Capone--331.33 Evan--330 Neil--310.33 Larry--309.67 Milton--289.33

That's ok. There are 12 people in the league. I'm really going to make an effort. It depends on a buddy of mine bringing a laptop and figuring out a way to steal free internet. It worked 6 months ago.
The worst that will happen is the Session 4 ends 2 days early and Session 5 begins 2 days early.
I'm confident more than one person will step up though, and 50-50 that I'll get online for a bit that day.

|
Post by IronHorse4 on May 23, 2007 8:53:35 GMT -5
I will send them.
The session should not end Friday regardless.
And by the way, Tom should do it as well, since it's his league.
I really don't understand why this is an issue.
Balls, regardless if you get online or not that day, the session should be on schedule. You'll have the results. I'll take care of it. I already track the standings daily on an Excel spreadsheet anyway.

I don't think it's an issue at all. But I have to remind people to cover it. The only potential mistake would be not clicking on Full Standings. I don't know why the main standings round the fractional points. They never did that until this year and it's annoying.
I'm sure Tom will cover it too. He's also well aware of the situation.
Just making sure everything is covered while I'm gone.

I cut-and-paste the full daily points standings on an Excel spreadsheet every day (with additional columns displaying hitting and pitching points). So we're fine.
