Of course the judicial system is too liberal. Too criminal oriented.

I think it's appalling that such comitted, hardline republicans and US government loyalists would fudge stories and concoct ways to get out of serving their civic responsibilites. disgusting and hypocritical. But, ironically, not shocking.

That's because Republicans actually work for a living, and have real responsibilities that can't be interrupted.

Also, since most of the people on trial are liberals, let the liberals handle the judging of such. I am tired of the liberals nonsense.

If it's all liberals on trial, you'd think you'd want conservatives on the jury so these maniacs aren't sent out scott free to roam the streets.

It is a catch 22, but then the liberal judges would find a way to let them go on a technicality, so we'll just fight for better gun laws so we can shoot them--that is, when we're not too busy working to pay for the stupid welfare.

Tell them you think you should be part of the "hung jury."

If it's criminal, mention that you feel that the guy has to be guilty. Why else would he have been arrested?

So far, they have called 1-77. I am 130. they said that there are more civil trials today than criminal, so it looks like the racist card may not work.

The jury room I was in had a row of computers with internet access for our use while we were being held prisoner. And we weren't numbers. They called us by name you know cause " I AM NOT A NUMBER! I AM A FREE MAN!"

All you need to do is mail in something with your old Jersey address and claim you still live there. I would not move simply to dodge jury duty.
Oh, here's a confession. I will be 40 this year and I have been to jury duty.....ZERO TIMES!
Not once! Go me!

I got a jury duty notice in yesterdays' mail. Have to start calling in on May 9th.
I live in Suffolk County so that means I can get sent to Central Islip or Riverhead.
CI would be easier because it's 17 miles from my house but it will be my dumb assed luck that I get sent to Riverhead which is 47 miles away.

Nah, not really. I have been bragging about this for years. They keep sending things to the wrong address. And when I mail them my current address, they dont seem to catch on and log it. They are still sending to the Deer Park address - and county - that I have not lived in for over 5 years.

They are still sending to the Deer Park address - and county - that I have not lived in for over 5 years. One would figure that the motor voter law that has been in action for the past few years would eliminate such stuff. I was called to serve in 2006 when I lived in Queens but blew it off. When you blow off jury duty, a note on your subsequent summons will say that you were a no show the last time. The notice I received yesterday doesn't have such an indication...guess changing my name and county might have tripped up the computer.

2 Foolproof excuses to get you out of any case:
Criminal case- Tell them you believe in guilty until proven innocent. I once was asked to serve a case where the def was a drug dealer and I said I didn't believe cops arrest innocent people. I was immediately dismissed.
Civil case- Say you had a similar situation. They tried to put me on a case with a lawsuit for a car accident and I said I had the same situation so I would side with the def. Again, I was dismissed.

I told my manager that I received my summons and she asked if I can bring a laptop with me so I get work done...yeah, like that's going to happen. I could have a laptop but if they think I'm getting work done, they've got another thing coming.
Anyway, if I get sent to Riverhead, I can bring my laptop but not my cell phone (since it has a camera). I have a webcam on my laptop.
Don't know what the laptop policy is for Central Islip.
I will have a difficult time playing the racecard because I'm biracial.
Cases that could get me out: MedMal ...my mom's a nurse and I am pursuing legal action against a doctor and a hospital.
Contractor issues: I had the "contractor from hell" for renovations to my last house, my husband's an engineer and I've spent the last 13 years working with architects, engineers and construction managers.
If all else fails, I'll take bronxmikey's advice.

I brought in a camera phone. And plenty of people had laptops. But that was Mineola. I actually had jury duty the same day as another girl from my office. She got called in at 10 and was there until 5. I got called in at 12 and told to go home. We both got paid for the entire day. I WIN!

Something funny by the way, I was driving in Hicksville the other day and I saw a ten year old kid walking down the street in an Iron Maiden t-shirt. Not something you see everyday in the days of emo and gangsta rap. Good for him.
