That would be a fun match to watch. When UT slams the casket, there would be a chuckle, if not a guffaw.

Here's something oddball about Taker and his casket stuff. I remember a match between Taker and the Texas Tornado. It was leading into one of Takers casket matches. During the match Paul Bearer left ringside and came back pushing a casket. Taker ended up dumping Von Erich into the casket.
What was odd about this is it went down on TV a couple of weeks after I believe his brother Mike died.

LOL @ Heenan on Primetime referring to Okerlund as an "Adolf Hitler lookalike."
If you missed the Primetime offering before this one, you missed classic footage of Howard Finkel dancing to "Turkey in the Straw" with the Gobbledygooker in front of a bored/befuddled/angry crowd at Madison Square Garden.

Speaking of this Primetime, LOL @ Heenan dropping the racism. When Monsoon asked what he thought of the Jumping Bomb Angels he goes 'They put too much starch in my shirts.' LOL!
Another funny thing was during the BJH/Hercules match, Herc has the full nelson on and Billy Jack is losing it. Ref lifts the arm once, twice, three times, but on the third one Billy Jack lets it drop. So, the ref goes for a forth, and that one drops too, but Hayens raises it and the ref holds up his hand and goes 'TWO!!"

LOL at Hennan saying he ran into Judy Martin before their match with The JB Angels and he said "I thought she was going to the bar for a drink" because Judy Martin said "she was going to go to get a nip"

80's wrestling racism is great fun.
How about the commentary during that match? Poffo was nutting in his pants describing the Angels and the build of their legs.

Here's a couple of my favorite racism in wrestling moments.
Once, during the Horsemen fued with JYD and company, Rocky King entered the fray, and Arn Anderson snapped during an interview, "where I come from, Rocky King, we dont even talk to people like you!"
And how bout Don Muraco doing a promo during his feud with Rocky Johnson where he was pushing around a mop singing slave ditties.

You can't beat the latest TNT offering when they are showing highlights of Mr. T boxing against "Boxing" Bob Orton. Of course things break down and Orton is holding Mr. T down and Piper is whipping him with his belt and Jesse The Body starts telling "McMahon this is like Roots II".....Also Piper saying he plays Sun City was a nice touch......Extra bonus is highlights of The Haiti Kid appearance and haircut on Piper's Pit....

So this is a fun offering of Prime Time. August 87. Sir Oliver Humperdink's first WWE appearance. In a suit - a regular suit - and not that crazy patchwork thing complete with wand he would be sporting soon enough. He gets into it with Bobby Heenan here.
Main event of JYD vs One Man Gang - Bill Watts must have been having a fit. The clincher on this one was your announcing team of......JAKE ROBERTS AND DON MURACO! Jake showed that dark charisma of his, he could weave a tale. Muraco sounded like crap, really. His voice was shot, why he was out there (cept to push his program with Bob Orton) was beyond me. He was painful to listen to, and was dotted throughout the show. So was Lanny Poffo, doing some color commentary for some of the matches.

Highlights for January on WWE 24/7. They will have a feature on Chief Jay Strongbow, the Legends roundtable has Mick Foley, Michael Hayes, Pat Patterson, Tazz and Jim Ross in what is many people's favorite show. They also have the 1988 Royal Rumble (the one from Hamilton, ONT) and 1994 Bash at the Beach with Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair. They also have the very first episode of Raw, and here's one for the charts, and they even call it "Black Saturday" in their own promotion, which is the July 14, 1984 episode of World Championship Wrestling on TBS when WCW took over. For the record, the term "Black Saturday" was coined by Mr. Mike in a cartoon in the Observer. They also air the first episode of ECW on TNN (now Spike) with Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn and Tazz vs. Rhyno.

Watching the Meadowlands card from 12/10/84 right now. A few matches in. Taped George Wells vs Charlie Fulton off it last night. Fulton was a heck of an imposing jobber type. Very underrated in his craft.
A funny aside on this one - joining Gorilla on commentary - HOWARD FINKEL. Finkel was just, well, Howard. He knows his stuff, but sounds very goofy. I dont know the real story behind this, wether or not he was filling in for somone who could not get there in time, or if he was trying out as an announcer. On more than one occassion he mentioned how "thankful" he was for the opportunity to join Gorilla on commentary. The ring announcer for the evening was Gary Michael Cappetta.
Ken Patera just put Jim Powers out with the swinging neckbreaker. Monsoon and Finkel sound very concerned. Bobby Heenan is coming out next to battle none other than SD Jones.

Another fun tidbit from said show was a live Pipers Pit. First he had some jersey folk come out and bandy stuff about. I swear I had seen this before, at this point I have to think I saw this card live as it unfolded almost 23 years ago on MSG. JYD was then supposed to be the guest, but he had been beaten down by Mr #1derful in the match before, so his "friend" Sal Bellomo came sauntering out.
Piper was at his snide and offensive best here, questioning how the two could be friends as they were "not even the same color." He then called Bellomo a "stupid wop." Soon enough Piper, Ace Orton, and Orndorff began circling and harrassing Sal, and JYD (with bandaged bloody head) came running in for the save, swinging his chain.

saw a bit of this Meadowlands card. really liked the first few bouts didnt get to finish it . the charlie fulton ve gerore wells was fun as was Bobby the brain weasealing a win from SD jones. something that i'm sure only i would get a kick out of, is seeing vendors in the crowd, and trying to figure out who they are. i spotted a few guys that actually still work in that place, I think im gonna ask them about this card they wont remember but it will make me laugh. fuck , i did the same the when i watch this past years Summerslam, only to find out i am all over that card which amuses me

I am backed up enough on time and wrestling that I cherrypick most of those cards. I watch essentially half. Tape a few matches as I watch, and flat-out fast-forward some of it. Guys I dont like. I actually felt guilty first time I did that. But, bottom line, 24/7 puts up about 60 new hours of stuff a month....you can watch a couple of hours a day and hardly get through it all.
On that card I watched and taped like 4 of 8 matches, I guess. I usually look around the crowd and wonder how many of them are dead.

So last night before turning in I put on the MSG card from March of 1980. What a treasure.
I wanted to be sure to do this, as it featured an appearance by Kerry Von Erich in the Garden. He battled board favorite Jose Estrada in a good match. It was fun to hear Vince talking about the young up and comer with the famous Von Erich lineage, and see him at this early stage.
I watched half the card last night, with minimal fast-forwarding. I had fun watching Bulldog Bob Brower, who I had read about but never saw in action. What a dumpy guy, who just looked like a grumpy bully. And I got to see Bruno battling Larry Z...after reading so much about that heated feud, and hearing so many tales of such, I had never seen a match between the two. This was a heated and spirited battle. I remember reading about it in the old Apter mags, with a tagline like, "BRUNO : - "I tried to kill Larry Z!"
Match ended with Bruno choking Larry out, and the ref had no choice but the DQ Bruno and give Larry the duke.
Last match I watched before flipping off for the night was Bob Backlund defending his gold against the big Samoan, Sika. Fun stuff.
