Balls is taking a stance in a joking fashion now. Time to exit this debate.

They also picked possibly the highest rent district in the US. They should open another one in Connecticut.

From the Torch...
Jim Ross posted a new blog on the revamped jrsbarbq.com discussing this week's news topics. Ross has many nice things to say about Owen Hart after he would have turned 43 years old earlier this week. He doubts Owen will ever be in the WWE Hall of Fame, however. "Owen Hart deserves to go into the WWE Hall of Fame but unfortunately I feel that his widow Martha would never cooperate with such a thing," he says, "which is unfortunate especially for Owen’s children who would see so many people demonstrate their love of their dad."

Sadly it's true, she'd never do it. Too bad, if he were inducted I'd make the trip to whatever city the ceremony would be in. I wouldn't love heels as much as I do if not for Owen. And for the record, he is the King of Harts, Owen was a zillion times better than Bret. In the ring and especially on the stick.

The freaking chauffeur of Vince Sr is in it and Pete Rose, so JR should just shut his mouth

What I think he's saying is that without the cooperation of Owen's immediate family, the WWE would have a hard time making it "touching" and "ceremonial" enough to do. I mean, who would accept and such? Hitman Hart may not want to get into the middle of things - there was a heap of acrimony between Owen's widow and Vince, Vince may not want to touch it.
One funny thing about James Dudley - the HOF who everyone agrees should not be in there. Not only is he in there, on 24/7 when they do the HOF specials his name is on the scroll, and its prominent. You would think they would keep it on the hush after this time. One thing I did not know about him was that aside from being Vince Sr's lapdog, he was a "manager" who accompanied black wrestlers to the ring in one market, I think DC.

I agree that Owen was better than Bret. Owen was one of my all time favorites. Bret? Never.

And Steve Austin will be inducted by......Vince McMahon! This was out a while ago, but just being confirmed. I like it, those two had a Hell of a run together.

Probably the best choice. Only the Rock would even compete, but they went with the right call.

So the updated list is Cowboy Bob Watts, Terry and Dory Funk, Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, and Stone Cold Steve Austin. I know JR is inducting Watts but I forget the rest if someone wants to help out. Good list so far, I like it, a lot.

Talk about lowering the bar a bit - apparently Koko B Ware is going to be added to this years class. No kidding.

Yeah that's a joke, no Savage and Bruno cause of the grudge, but Koko fucking B Ware. At least we know he won't be on the USA portion of the ceremony.

Well, simple mental math would tell you that, with the rate they were putting in guys, they would run out of viable candidates. They should have kept it to like, two or three inductees a year, and not shot the load by bringing in gaggles of grapplers. Funniest part of the Ware thing is that Honky Tonk is inducting him, when most would say Honky should be the guy on the induction end there. To his credit, Honky, when asked a few weeks ago about the Hall, flat-out said his name and legacy could not compare to the people going in this year, and he was not deserving. I watched Ware's shoot - most of you would not know this, but his best work came well outside the WWE, and he had a good rep. I enjoyed his shoot. He cried at the end, talking about the fans and the life wrestling gave him, so expect tears from his speech (and maybe some from the crowd, not undestanding how he is being let in) This tells you that in the next few years we will see all kinds of loony names going in. Oh, and dont blame the WWE for Bruno, they have the door open for him anytime he wants to come back. Thats on HIM. As to Savage, rumor has it he boinked an underage Stephanie....if you were her Dad, would YOU invite him in?

Whether Honky Tonk Man deserves it isn't the point. He DEFINITELY deserves it over Koko B Ware. The Hall of Fame needs to hear the Honky Tonk Man sing. The Hall of Fame needs to see the Honky Tonk Man dance. The Honky Tonk Man is THE greatest intercontinental champion of all time.
But they elect Koko B Ware? Are you kidding me? BARRY HOROWITZ deserves it more than Koko B. Ware.
But GREAT to see Finkus Maximus getting his due.

The Stephanie/Macho Man comment has my head spinning.
Kudos to Fink for making it. Nice video montage they had for him yesterday on ECW. Brought back some good memories.

Congrat Fink!! Now this is an honoree I can get excited about.....The voice of my teenage years and all those monthly shows at MSG...nothing was better then the anticipation before the final match when he would announce the next month card with a dramatic flair!!!
Maybe he will pave the way for the voice from my childhood Joe McHugh......

I have not seen ECW yet, its a tape for later. My best Fink connection is hearing Big Tone Capone doing a bellowing impersonation of him, walking down the MSG steps, after wrestling events. Crowd would go haywire.
Joe, you knew nothing of these sordid Step / Savage rumors?

The Capone/Fink impression was ALWAYS funny. But Capone is one of the best people ever to go to any wrestling show with--but I'm sure it sucks if you don't know him and don't like that kind of chicanery.

Mind you, I have not seen it, but many of the pundits strongly disagree, as it was totally played for laughs. They showed him in his red underwear, in slap fights, all kinds of campy antics. Considering Fink himself is "touched beyond belief" and takes this as a big honor, the fact they are treating it so obviously as a joke takes some shine away.
Interesting to note that aside from Austin, every other person on mic this year has been told to keep their speeches to 3 minutes. 3 minutes! You can hardly say hello in 3 minutes.

One thing I agree with Captain about was when Fink announced the next month's card at MSG. There was nothing like it.

Read in a few places that Koko's name was originally bought up only as a joke of sorts, and everyone was shocked when Vince went for it as if it were a real suggestion.

So who thinks Austin really asked Vince? I have a feeling Vince put himself in there, but it is a good fit with all the history between them. You never even really see Vince at the ceremony so I guess it should be cool.

From the UK Sun for what it is worth...
WRESTLING icon The Ultimate Warrior is being tipped to enter the WWE Hall of Fame, despite a series of very public fallings out with the company. It was always thought that Warrior was on a list of people — also including Macho Man Randy Savage and Bruno Sammartino — who would either never be asked or never accept a HOF invitation.
However this year marks the 20th anniversary of his famous WWE championship victory over Hulk Hogan and relations between him and Vince McMahon are said to have thawed.
They recently came to terms after Warrior filed a legal complaint about the company's negative Self-Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior DVD.
The 2010 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place on March 27 in Phoenix, Arizona, the day before WrestleMania.
The Figure Four Newsletter reports: "Warrior is all over WWE.com these days.
"He lives in Phoenix, where Mania is being held. It'll be 20 years since he beat Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI.
"Obviously Hogan is on the outs with WWE, the lawsuit is settled and so all signs are pointing to him going into the Hall of Fame this year.
"I guess we'll see what happens. They're likely going to unveil the first name on the night after the Royal Rumble."
In a 2004 interview with SunSport — at a time when he was at loggerheads with Vince McMahon — Warrior told us: "To be honest, I'm not really interested.
"I'm the first guy to step up to defend my career, and how special and credible Ultimate Warrior as a character was, but I have more important things in my life."
He added: "It's not a far reach to say that every person who has ever left the WWE of their own accord but then went and cowered back to Vince, he has used them and totally eaten them up.
"That's the way he operates, and there's just no way I can go back to the WWE.
"Especially with the creative direction of cultural degeneration they've been on in the last five or six years.
"It's not an easy thing for me to say that I'll never go back — because I do miss the money, success and thrill of the business — but that's the truth."

I wonder what kind of shape he is in, and if he could work a match. Of course, one can argue that he couldn't work a match even in his prime...
