This thread may contain spoilers, so proceed at your own risk.
Dusty Rhodes was your first offical entrant announced for this weeks class. Enjoyed the angle that played out on Raw. In fact, makes me think that Umaga, and not Khali, may end up being Vince's guy at Mania.
Anyhoo, word is the next two announced entrants would be none other than......Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler!
Hey, never gave it much thought, but that is simply for not seeing the forest but for the trees. And the fact that the two are essentially "active" to me, on there week to week. But when you think of it, these two are very worthy for any wrestling Hall of Fame.

Let's hope this is a "parting gift" for the once great JR.

See, I'm all for a change too. Ross is old news. Hell, I would even be open to throwing Todd Grisham in there. Lawler needs to go too, come to think of it. Parting gift sounds better and better.

I got no problem with Ross and King going into the hall, Lawler moreso. both have had long carrears in the biz. i dont relly mind them doing RAW and dont think they should be replace cause there's no one worth bringing up. Todd Grisham? are you fuckin kidding me?that guys sucks , so does Cole for that matter.JBL is doing a Fine job on SD! though.

Yeah, thats my point - Ross is so bad nowadays that even Grishman would be a fresh voice. And Grisham is just a painted suit nowadays, if you hear him on commentary or when he did some announcing on Heat and other projects, he was ok. Actually, I liked the Dean Malenko lookalike Steve Romero better, but I think he's no longer around.
I have heard some speculation that Lawler going in is preceding an announcement that WWE has bought the Memphis wrestling library (oh, my, 24/7 will get even better...) but who knows. I am not sure how much of it is in Lawlers claws anyway.

I wonder if JR will plug Skittles during his acceptance speech....That being said I don't think Cole is that bad and kind of like the interaction him and JBL have.....
That being said as an obscure pick (for some) on a personal level I'd like to see inducted is Mil Mascaras and for him to get his due as the first great Mexcican "luchadore" type wrestler...I followed him on Channel 9 in the early 70s, pre WWWF days, as IWA champ, then when IWA was bumped off kept up through the magazines and and his occasional Florida, WWF, NWA, and Channel 41 Wrestling from the Olympic (Chavo Classic and Piper's old stomping grounds) apppearances....He was my first farvorite wrestler as a young kid.....

I think they are already in. I'll try to confirm. I can say this, on 24/7 they have the HALL OF FAME section, and when I first got the channnel, the Valient Brothers were featured in that section.

Both would be great HOFers, and as long as Ross wants to announce, he should. And I think that Owen needs to go in ahead of anyone at this point.

Owen is a lock, but at the WWE's pace. He's a bullet in the gun they will pull out when they want to do another tribute sort of thing. As for The Samoans, Cap, they are rumored to go in as early as this year.

Samoans are long overdue.......They were vital in the start of Hulkamania as I am sure Balls well knows.........It was Backlund vs. one of the Samoans (I think Afa but not sure) in a rare Saturday morning TV appearance by the champ (very rare back in the day)..Of course as the match broke down and Captain Lou and the other Samoan entered the ring and all 3 began pummeling Backlund......queue the Hulkster who rushed the ring and cleared house and made the save and Hulkamania was born........Shortly thereafter Backlund had the Persian club "accident" lost to the Shiek at MSG and than Hogan took his place the next month at MSG when Backlund still had not recovered from his "injury".......and the rest was history..

You know one thing I was thinking about as I was watching 24/7 is that there are no referees in the WWE Hall of Fame. I think there has to be room for a few since they are often a big part of the story and action of a match....A couple I think that should make it are Dick Whorley (did all the TV matches), Dick Kroll (did all the big MSG matches), The Hebners (of SNME fame), Nick Patrick for WCW and Johnny Red Shoes Dugan a favorite of mine from Wrestling from the Olympic & NWA.......On the bubble....Bill Alfonso for his Wrestling from Florida and ECW work.....just short for me..Gilberto Roman (he always made me laugh), Joey Marella didn't have enough quality years (the T. Munson of referees), Charles Robinson ("Little Naitch")

Hey, good call. Dont forget "Scrappy" McGowan (who is actually working some in the WWE developmental Deep South promotion)
Ah, I too immediatly rung to mind Whorley, Kroll, and especially little Gilberto Roman. Nice!

"Head referee" Dick Kroll as Gorilla used to refer to him...Roman made me laugh as he always had a flair, even when he was counting people out - the way he waved his arms when counting, then at other times would be so clueless.....Dick Whorley was old school and took no crap from anyone....Don't forget Billy Caputo (I think he was from Staten Island) but he was a boob inb the ring..often the victim of the midgets...

Induct the old guy with the hearing aid that used to escort the wrestlers down the aisle at MSG for years. He always looked like he'd rather be anywhere but working a WWF show

WWE is starting to reach out to other territories and feds, especially now that they own the footage and are making money off of it. It also is a way for Vince to placate those who have hated him for years for "running them out of business." Its a happy scene, all around. Verne Gagne preceded Nick in, and all this continues with the Von Erichs to come, and other legends around the wrestling world.
Tommy Young was a very active ref, sliding and jumping around the ring to make his counts and reprimand the heels. His career ended when he ended up on the wrong end of some sort of exchange between Tommy Rich and Mike Rotundo and screwed up his back.
Some trivia for those who may not have known, or forgot...Nick Patrick is the son of a wrestling legend....the mighty masked ASSASSIN!

Good call on Tommy Young..forgot about him....
Don't remeber the masked ref from the Olympic but have many thoughts of Old Pork Chop, Black Gordman & Goliath and Java Rouk (aka Johnny Rodz).....the best was a young Piper frustrating the Guerreos.....though I didn't understand Spanish I loved the announcers as they would get real animated in describing the action.....
Yes remeber the Assassin...didn't he on occasion put something in his mask than deliver the headbutt for many a victory?

I think that guy was a lackey for the NY State Athletic Commission and I think they had their hand in Vince's (Sr. & Jr.) pockets back in the day and would get many cushy jobs in return for the licensing.....This I think was a big reason why Vince came out with the whole "sports entertainment" angle so they wouldn't have to be treated as an "athletic" event and be under the thumb of the commission.....

back in the day,the NYSAC had an age limit on garden cards,i think it was 14 and they also would not allow masked grapplers at MSG...the few who wore the hood(black demon & el olympico to name 2)wore a mask that exposed their face...until they finally landed mil mascaras

It really shouldn't be called the WWE HOF anymore, even if they do own the thing. I don't think Bockwinkel ever wrestled in the WWE, except for that match with Mr. Backlund.

In the early-mid 80s I did see Tiger Mask wrestle at MSG on a few occasions, as well as The Invaders all under the hood...

Of course it should. They run it, fund it, maintain it, and pump out the ceremonies, promotion, and nod to the entrants. Stop worrying about stupid stuff.
As to Bockwinkel, one of my all-time favorites. A sneaky champion, tons of class, and a great promo guy.
