Well, to get ready for this Sundays extravaganza, I am prepping up by listening to the audio recaps of Summerslam 2005 and Summerslam 2006 this morning/afternoon on the Torch. Bringing back some memories, and getting me stoked to hear this years on Monday morn as I ride the rail into work, after having seen the battle the night before.
While this years is lacking the "oh my gosh!' sort of battle like Hogan/HBK, it looks like a solid card and I cant wait.

Oh you mean Hogans best match ever due to Michaels beinbg a bump machine? I barely remember the match.
Yeah, no special attraction match, just seeling it based on their own merit. On paper, it looks good but I can see this thing going off the rails pretty quickly. The only big selling points are the returns, and to be honest I'm only waiting for one return and it's not happeneing on sunday.

I really hope Orton takes the belt. I agree it's a pretty solid card.
HHH returning is a decent match, even if he will obviously be put over.
I don't care too much about Khali/Batista since I'm not a major fan of either. Would love to eventually see Mysterio v. Khali for the comedy.
When does Big Show get back? He'd be a good rival for Khali. Either that, or a good tag team partner.
I never liked Mysterio and am saddened that he's coming back. I don't care about that match at all.
The triple threat match for the IC title is annoying to me. I hate triple threat matches. Never liked the concept. But it's a way to get the belt off Umaga by having Mr. Kennedy beat Carlito.
It's a decent card at the top and it should be a solid PPV.

Funny you of all people dont remember the match, when people call it one of Michaels' best peformances. Most of the accolades from that match come from what YOUR boy did there, not mine. Nonetheless, I will throw it on off of my Hogan comp. DVD over the weekend, to get some Summerslam vibes.
The returns are the only selling point? What about the diva battle royal?

I think we saw that already on Smackdown before Rey was put out of commission.
I know HHH will get over and probably to chase Orton for the belt but I hope it doesn't mean the end of the King Bookah character....

Shit! You're right. They did square off when Mysterio was champ and Khali squashed him. I forgot about that.
At some point King Bookah will have to go away lest he get stale. Bottom line is that if King Bookah ends, Booker will come up with something else. He's comedic gold no matter what.

One of THE funniest things Booker ever did was when he was feuding with Austin. Austin was chasing him, and somehow they ended up in a Church. i dont remember how it got there. Anyway, Booker was running and there was a statue of a Saint in an epic pose. He stopped, looked both ways, and crouched down by the statue, making the same sort of overblown pose. Then he thought better of it, and ran away.
Hilarious.

I hope it's good. They haven't really done a good job of building the Orton-Cena match. They are making Orton just look like another opponent for Cena. I still hope Orton wins. I don't hate Cena with a passion like most people, I do enjoy booing him however, but that's because I'm just tired of him being champ. Don't really care about Batista-Khali.
I hope the triple threat is good. They can either be really good or really crappy. Let's hope for the former. Mysterio...eh.
Booker and HHH with their mic skills and comedic tastes would be a great feud for the next few months. I am pumped to see him come back. I hope King Bookah never gets old. When he said Tazwell on Monday I lost it. He is gold.

What's funny is how you, of all people Tom, can't pick up on sarcasm. Didn't I say he was a bump machine and carried Hogan to his best match of his lackluster carreer? I forgot the ending and will not use MSBs link to refresh, those are the brain cells I'm glad are dead.
My problem with this years card, is the endings are too predictable. I mean, does anyone think that all 3 major titles won't change hands sunday? The booking for this ppv has been the worst I've seen in a long time. If the action isn't top notch this card will tank.

I wouldn't be surprised if the CM Punk- Johnny Nitro (I refuse to call him Morrison) match is the best match by leaps and bounds. Too bad they'll only get like 8 minutes.

Shawn Michaels hit the superkick on Hogan. It looked bleak for the Hulkster as no one gets up from the superkick. The ref went to count, 1-2, and by some miracle, Hogan kicked out. It was as if the power and energy of the millions of Hulkamaniacs coursed threw Hulk's veins.
When he got up, Hogan looked like he had a new life. Try to punch Hogan as he might, it was as if the Hulkster was impervious to pain.
Within seconds, Hogan hit the big boot and leg drop, and was once again, victorious as the crowd went wild.

I think Orton/Cena is going to be the best match. Morrison / Punk may get a bit of time, they even went 15 minutes on ECW TV.

I think it would really be awesome if Orton takes the belt. The heel promos alone would be great, and it would be a good setup for Cena to pursue the belt again.

Orton WILL take the belt, because HHH wants it back as a face, and having a huge face take the belt off a huge money making face like Cena will much up future plans. This way, HHH can beat a hell and get the pops and Cena can still be touted as the top banana.

HHH hasn't had a run as champ in a long time. If Orton gets it, I hope he gets a decent run--not some one PPV and done thing.

I would hope if he gets the belt, he would get it until AT LEAST Survivor Series. I'd truly hope for Wrestlemania, but that's a lot to ask for.

Oh yeah I remember, Michaels was going to go over and and a month later have a dramtic rematch inside the steel cage. This way, both guys get wins and two times the pay days for Hogan. Then, at the last minute, the man "inpervious" to pain opted out of the rematch cause of his knee. Where HBK on the other hand, has had numerous matches throughout several years even at the top, with literally, no tissue on his bones, just knee cap on bone. I remember than ending now Hogan proved why he's a peice of shit, no work ethic lying ass, two move master cocksucker. Even Trips bashed him in WWE magazine for it. That's why I say fuck what people have to say about the clique, no one pulled more backstage malarky than Hogan, master of manipulating and backstage poltics. Fucking asshole. I look foward to HBK coming back and having the match of the night every night. Something Hogan has never done consistently in his mediocre carreer.
Sorry for the rant, Balls enticed me, back to Summerslam.

Balls enticed me,
Eh, I think you mean INCITED you. You "incite" someone to fight. You "entice" someone into your bed.
Are you two arguing, or humping?

The bottom line is that Hogan never lost to Michaels. HBK could never beat Hogan. Hogan was too damn good.

HBK cooulnt beat Hogan cause Hogan pulled malarky, Michaels promos alone whipped Hogan, the walker? Fucking great. Him as a heel for a month was the best, and the promo after SS bitchslapped that cockstain Hogan. Why don't you pull that one up on youtube?Pretty much a shoot letting Hogan know he's shit compared to the legacy of the heartbreak kid.

HBK couldn't beat Hogan because he just couldn't stand up to the power of Hulkamania. HBK could wrestle for another 1000 years and he will never have the great legacy of Hogan.

-McMahon backstage told Coach that Batista proved he was an animal. Regal brought in Mae Young and Fabulous Moolah. Vince asked what the meaning of it was. Mae said she wants relations with him so she can have his basard son. She dove onto Vince and tried to dry hump him. She had to pulled offf of Vince's lips. Vince growled, "Get her out of here, dammit!" She was dragged out of the room. Vince gagged and caughed. Coach told Vince she was strong as an ox. Vince said, "You wouldn't believe the taste in my mouth." Coach offered him a Tic Tac. Vince smiled after taking one. He said, "It may be a little kinky, but I kinda liked it. It turned me on." Coach said that was disgusting. Vince said, "I guess you've never heard the expression, old chicken makes good soup." Ross said he's never eating chicken soup again.
LOL!

Was it a good PPV? I read the results online. I suppose the matches could have been good, but I pretty much didn't like anything that happened.
I'm tired of Cena as champ.

Here is my initial take. I will have more on it tomorrow, but I need to get some rest.
I echo the statements of quite a few people on the wrestling boards...nothing stood out, but it was a fun 3 hours. Nothing wrong with the show. Watched it with Dana, we both liked it. The wrestling was good. The annoying thing to me was HHH posing for 5 minutes both before and after his match. The Batista/Khali match was really bad, and I usually give those matches praise, and see the light in the dark. They just did not do a good job, and the DQ ending was bunk.

At this point, get the belt off Kahli if all they can do is have bad matches with terrible endings.
The first half of the Cena/Orton match sounded terrible.

Status quo my butt. This card looked terribly predictable going in, and the WWE threw a curveball. Its about time everything on a card was not done by the book. One of the best parts of this show (and its the going take on most of the wrestling boards) is the fact that the guys "who were going to win" did not.
