It was status quo in that no titles changed hands. Everything is as it was before the PPV.

No, and no.
By the way, William Regal, Teddy Long, and Coach dancing with Cryme Time while Vince stood by flabbergasted and disgusting was worth the $40 alone.
Again, we dont need to see title changes every PPV. It was fresh in that this is the first Summerslam I can surely remember where no major titles changed hands. Good job, WWE.
I was also happy Beth Phoenix won the Diva battle royal, cause at least she is credible.

I agree title changes aren't a must in every PPV, but Summerslam should have had at least one, and a card like that could have just been an ordinary Raw.
Have the wrestling boards come up with any ideas as to who the bastard son is?
I kind of laughed when Kane came out, given that in the storyline, Paul Bearer's his father.

I understand you saying that from afar, but if you saw the card and how these matches played out, you may have felt differently. The "surprise" we had when Umaga won clean over Kennedy, and Cena scored the win over Orton was enough to have us talking. It did the right thing. Predictability is one of the worst things in wrestling, and WWE showed last night that you can not count on anything.
Word making the rounds is still that Kennedy is going to be "the bastard"

Cena beating Orton really isn't that much of a surprise. He's beating everyone, and we're getting the old indestructible champion--except like it or not, there is a strong contingent of fans that really can't stand him.
WWE.com mentioned that the crowd was split at the Meadowlands. Orton had a lot of people rooting for him. I'm disappointed because I really thing Orton taking the title would have been a fun run. Cena's run as champ is stale to me. HE isn't stale, but as champ, I'm tired of him. Hopefully it will happen soon.
I suppose Umaga cleanly beating Kennedy is a surprise, but Umaga is another wrestler that needs to lose his title.
If they want some unpredictabilty, have a major title change on Raw tonight.
The bastard storyline will be entertaining, but the payoff likely will not be as good as the setup.

Believe it or not I think Kane vs. Finlay which was a throw away was the best match on the card.....

Yes, Cap, but Kennedy had "Kennedy" in the name well before this idea was an inkling of a thought. Thats just one of those "happy coincidences"
I agree that the Kane/Finlay match was very strong. I enjoyed it, it was a good opener. A funny thing I am reading is that after the show Cena got his hands on one of those dumb "If Cena Wins We Riot" signs, and stood in the ring beckoning fans to come in and give it a try. Good for him.

I was there last night and here are my thoughts.
Cena-Orton: I was rooting hard for Orton. I really like him even though I know a lot of people don't. I thought the match was one of the better ones because of the way the crowd was split. I like Cena don't get me wrong. He's the best out there and is definitely the main event guy of the company. He's amazing on the mic and he's above average in the ring. He knows how to work, except that WM match where he totally no sold his knee. However, I am sick of him always overcoming the odds and winning. He's beaten every established main event comeptitor aside from Taker and Batista. I would love to see Cena-Batista at WM24. That would be a great match I think.
Batista-Khali: Sucked ass more by the ending than anything. I can live with the slow pace because Khali isn't someone that's gonna be doing a shooting star press anytime soon. I just hated the DQ finish. They could've done that on Smackdown. I want decisive winners on these big PPV's.
HHH-Booker: The crowd was huge for him including myself. His entrance was awesome. I really hope that our next closer after Mariano comes out to King of Kings. It's such an awesome song. Match was what it was. It entertained me.
Rey-Chavo: When did the Silver Surfer come to WWE? I didn't get that at all. Rey looked fat. He got a bigger reaction than I thought. I find Rey entertaining but never knew how much he connected with the audience. Never really got it. Match was good though.
Triple Threat: Boring.
And about the Cena Wins: We Riot" sign...Yeah good job John. People are really gonna throw shit and tear down the ring at the Meadowlands. If Cena won at Hammerstein last June you don't think they would've burned the place to the ground? Cmon Tom, wake up. Good for him for standing up to it sure. But no one was going to do anything.

I have to say that when Finlay made his initial appearance I was like "you have to be kidding me" this guy was boring in WCW but he has become one of my favorite Smackdown personalities........I think he deserves some sort of title run (either US when MVP moves on or tag with someone)......

Thus making him the man even more. so yeah i couldnt really watch much of this Card, as i was pretty busy. what i did see ,Cryme Tyme Regal AND teddy long singing "money Money" was funny as hell. Regal is gold.I'd have to agree that the crowd was split 50/50 on cena vs orton with Cena's fan being more young and female than orton's fans who older dudes.just seemed like a bunch of dudes who want to see a new champ.Balls how can you dislike Cena and be a Hogan Fan?Hulk was THE Champ that would never lose. I found it funny how Pissed the Orton fans were as they left the Arena, still chanting Cena Sucks as the little kids went wild.i saw a guy who had to be a lil younger than me, scream at a little girl Cena Sucks.Girl quips back then why he won?" with nothing left to say he goes "its staged kid". what a dick how you gonna tell a kid its fake?sometimes wrestling fans are the biggest weirdos and fags in the world

Hahahaaha. That guy got upstaged by a little girl. Good. What an ass for yellin in her face. Although I woulda taken it further and said that there's no Santa Claus because the Easter Bunny killed him and then took his own life.
Little more on the card, what the fuck with Punk/Morrison? Like I said before it could've stole the show but they only got 8 minutes. Punk should have that belt right now. He's the only reason I watch that shitstorm of a show. He's one of my top 5 favorite guys out there right now and people should be taking notice. The way to do that is give him the belt.
I've recently jumped on the MVP bandwagon. I haven't watched Smackdown regularly until about a month ago but this guy is gold.

Cena is no Hulk Hogan.
Though I will admit that toward the end of Hogan's run, before his heel turn in WCW, I was tired of Hogan. It took a long break, and the return to the WWE to really appreciate the man. Plus, that match with the Rock was one of his finest.
It's fun to be a Hulkamaniac. No such fun with Cena.

But it's ok when Hogan does it.
I'm glad Triple H is back. Two reasons, he's fun to hate and I like the way Regal says Triple Heych. The Kahli/Batista match = gay.
My man, Mr. Kennedy, not beating Jamal..... oops, I mean "Umaga"= gay.
Mysterio's silver body paint = gay.
Regal dancing to the Cryme Time song = priceless.

I know I'm way late on this, but how many fucking matches only went 8 minutes? Fucking horrendous, as was most of the action. But for me, summerslam was worth it cause DX isn't done. Please, no one say to me the crotch chops were meaningless.

Be that as it may, HHH is already being ripped apart for returning so soon to the Junior High school humor that flunks on SO MANY levels. Its just bizarre that someone who comes out to Motorhead and acts so big and bad then makes cock jokes. People are hammering this, rightfully so. Yeah, James, lets bring back DX so they can wave around rubber roosters.
Yay!

It wont be anytime soon, and there are rumors that he may never be back fulltime at all. He certainly does not need the money, and as much "heart" as he is rumored to have, the injuries are taking a toll. Bottom line, if you are waiting for him to come back, dont hold your breath.

I started to groan with disgust when HHH started his whole cock thing again.
And I hope HBK doesn't come back full time. Him at 75% is still better than half the roster but I'd rather see him on a part time basis well rested than him going 75% every week.

I agree with Grover, but one thing I know is, Michaels has been wrestling through pain and injuries when I was still watching Ghostbusters, and fact is 4 years got taken off him in his prime, of course he's comin g back and he is going to want to main event again. And I totally agree, the cabana was terrible and HHH needs to fucking wake up, or stop being whipped around by Steph. Just more proof, the guy who took HHHs Mania spot, is the only one who gets it and can deliver every single time, be it a skit or match. And i my opinion, if anyone should take the belt off Cena, it should be Michaels, the crowd wants it and he deserves more than a month run with the strap like when he first came back in 2002.
My only thing is this, if he does come back, at 75% and not a full schedule, he's going to have to run with some group, otherwise every match will be him doing promos for 4 weeks straight then doing the job on ppv just like with Hogan. I know Nash is in TNA, I know Hall is laying low, but where the fuck is the kid after MTV thing failed? Bring him in, do a DX or clique thing, HBK doesn't have to do the cock segements and can just do the wrestling, and the crowd would fucking pop for that shit. Then they just need to bring back the Rock and Bret Hart and the clique can keep them down again, lol. Ok wishful thinking, but you know what I'm getting at. Bottom line is HHH sucks by himself.

I don't know if the crowd wants Michaels to take the belt. But I do think there are a LOT of people who want to see Cena lose. I'm really disappointed they didn't give the belt to Orton.

Hall is laying low? Uh, yeah...not by any choice of his own. He has called WWE looking for work, and thankfully they are NOT INTERESTED. He is out of shape, and yesterdays news. Even TNA wants nothing to do with him right now. As for Nash, thats not happening either....he is old and frail, his wrestling is done. Even is current contract with TNA is a peformers deal, and not a wrestling deal. The WWE does not need him to stand around cracking jokes.
And as to Kid, the guy is a waste, he is drug addled and that is the LAST thing the WWE needs right now. The guy is a known heroin addict. You wont see him in the bigtime again.

DX got really old, and the best thing that could have happened was HHH tearing a quad.
Nash is fine in TNA, and he never really was a good worker anyhow. He just stands around being funny, and that's fine. I think Nash would make a funny addition to an announce team, but knowing him he would probably want even more time off.

I knew Kid was fucked up but I thought he was clean, last torch talk I read he was. But it makes sense they don't want him now, with all the shit they're going through.
Balls, ask yourself this, where was last this past years Mania? Not exactly one of those cities where you could expect a half and half crowd reaction for Cena is it? If it worked for Taker, it could for HBK. Of course Taker got hurt so it's not the best example, but if HBK wokred a less schedule, hangs on to the belt for two and a half, maybe 3 months, what fan wouldn't want to see that, with the exception being the ham'n'eggers on this board? Plus to be fair, who doesn't expect Cena to retain ever title defense? Summerslam was different cause for one thing it's Orton who's gotten a monster push lately, also Summerslam, any of the major four ppvs add an element to a title match other ppvs don't and lastly, the crowd was divided in half for Cena(expected in NY/NJ area), and that always makes Cenas matches better than they are. If Mania this year was any indication, doesn't matter where it is, the crowd would pop huge in East Bumblefuck Kentucky if HBK got the strap off Cena. HHH, not that much. Anyone else, doubtful. Orton at Summerslam would have been nice cause of the crowd, but that's why they didn't have the belt change hands, Ortons a heel. If Cena drops it, they don't want a replica of ONS when RVD beat him. Have you been hanging out with Sean Waltman?
If anyone said they were suprised or thought Orton had a chance is fucking lying, Cean was walking out with the belt. And if you didn't know it going in, you should have known after Kenndey got beat clean. There was an inkling, but that's it. And after the last raw before SSm it was even more obvious what would happen.

Yeah, after Kennedy lost clean I raised an eyebrow. Going in I figured they would give Orton the belt so HHH can grab it at Survivor Series, but, if word that HHH wants it at WM is true, I'm sure Orton or some other heel will win it around Armageddon or Royal Rumble to drop it to Hunter come WM
