I figured, despite Balls' love of 90210, it really doesn't need it's own thread. We can discuss all the old Spelling classics here.
One bonus I got moving out to Port Jeff was the addition of SoapNet to my channel line up, which provides me with much guilty pleasure. My DVR box is busy with both Melrose Place AND Beverly Hills, 90210 in the afternoons, and it really floors me at what complete cheese this stuff was... but I have to admit that I love it. I am feeling quite nostalgic, as I cruise through season 6 of 90210.
A bit of trivia I had forgotten, or never originally picked up on... Dylan's wife never would have gone to meet her father in his place (and been gunned down in the rain by her Daddy's henchmen,) if she hadn't turned her little doe-eyes on her new husband, who went soft and promised to continue scouring his property for the little kitten (named TROUBLE) who was lost in the rain.
Another note, on Dylan's leaving town after his wife's murder... when Brandon comes to see him off, he's looking all tough-guy and stoic, packing up his bike... and there is the cat carrier strapped onto the back of the motorcycle. I think this was supposed to make me sad, but I burst out laughing... but maybe only because the cat's name was Trouble... just like Nettles Dave's cat...

Dylan's wife getting shot was definitely a top ten moment.

You too Balls? I am/was a big 90210 fan.
I think it's one of the few shows that jumped the shark, then came back.
Definitely jumped the shark when they all went to Hawaii, and brought back Noah...the Dylan wannabe. I could just hear the writer's meetings now...."Hurry, ratings are slipping, we need another good-looking tough guy who talks like he's on ludes!"

You know, I never watched Twin Peaks. It passed on by. But the two books I have read by Mark Frost (he's the creator, isnt he?) I enjoyed very much. Many tell me I missed the boat on Twin Peaks. Sigh.

Dallas was the best primetime soap ever. JR is still one of my heroes.

I never watched Dallas, but I was a big fan of its spin off, Knots Landing, so I may DVR Dallas off SoapNet when it rolls around to the beginning again...

Watching DVR'd 90210 episodes....
I love the whole Kelly-Colin-Cocaine storyline... poor, poor Kelly is disturbed in her perfect life by her daddy running out on her [again] so she tries some coke that she just happened to have lying around... within a week, she becomes a complete coke slut, and gets sent off to rehab... meanwhile, Colin tries to quit and his dealer stops by with the cheesiest "you know you want to... it'll make you feeeeeel good..." getting him to give in AND go for a ride... which turns into an OJ-style police chase...
... and like the Ginsu knives... theres more!
Kelly comes home from rehab & invites her homeless runaway rehab roomie to move in! Psycho Tara is possibly one of the most utterly ridiculous characters to ever hit primetime... chsing away Kelly's med student love interest... keying Val's car... coming home with a hair dye & cut just like Kelly... and the horror of OVER FEEDING THE FISH!!!

Melrose Place definitely ruled during its heyday. The turning point into what made it great was when Michael Mancini turned heel. He quickly became my favorite character on the show.

Melrose Place was a show that starred Heather Locklear, and she WASN'T the hottest chick on the show.

Yesterday there was a Back To School With 90210 special on...I don't remember now...one of the cable Fox stations....and I watched.
Man, the first episode ever is hilarious! Some of those outfits were brutal. I hadn't remembered that Dylan WASN'T introduced on the first episode. Also love the fact that Brandon and Brenda rolled up on West Beverly High in a brown Chevette. Sweet ride Brandon! Also, I thought it was amusing to see how Kelly was first introduced as a dingy blonde superficial character who evoked nothing but apathy....considering how they turned her character into the perpetual bad-luck victim in later years.
MAN, that show kicks ass!

I would also like to point out that TJ Hooker, one of the greatest cop shows in history, was an Aaron Spelling brainchild.

I always hated TJ Hooker....that's because, in the 80s, there were two types of people: Heather Locklear people and Heather Thomas people. Therefore, my allegience was always with

Knots Landing was a spinoff? I never knew that!
This board is not only entertaining, but educational!
My favorite Aaron Spelling show was Charlie's Angels. The Love Boat and Fantasy Island were up there, too.

I was always a huge 90210 fan, and did watch that and Melrose Place religiously. Now, looking back I don't really understand what was so great about Melrose Place.
