It wasn't really that busy. It was the first show of the season. Questions can not be answered in the first show. It has to set things up.
Not a big fan of that kid "West" though. What an ass.

I was saying as long back as last year that this show is too cute for its own good. The writers seem to be a bunch of "hey, look at me" sorts who are writing for awards, and not audience satisfaction. The rumored drop in ratings will reflect this. The show is too convoluted for its own good. Look, I can figure it out, but I dont need to. I will say it again, this show takes WAY too long to get where it wants to go.

Well, the bloom is off the rose. Ratings for week two were nearly 20% off the debut episode. People are jumping off the poop deck. Again, story is too busy, too many things are going on without much happening. On top of this, a review I read put it really succinctly...."people want to watch Heroes BE HEROES. Watching them at home = not so fun."
Also, these Mexicans fleeing Lord knows what are going over like a lead balloon. Like Dana quipped to me in the car this morning, its like the writers simply inserted them so they could pull some more powers out of their ass. "Hey, lets write in someone who can do this!"
Another funny note from a review was "what, did they pull out all the leftover plots and sets from The Black Donnelly's for Peter's new adventure?"

I agree that I don't like the fleeing Mexicans. But other than that, the show is fine for those of us that have the intelligence to follow the plot.
They do need to move some stuff along, like Peter getting back into the fold. The Hiro plot is a fun one.

Yeah, the show is so "fun" and treasured by people "with enough intelligence to follow the plot" that one in five viewers have already bailed. Lets see how gruesome these numbers get as the show continues to slog along at its meandering pace.

Season premieres are always higher rated shows. That doesn't mean much. Heroes was also the top rated show in its timeslot in the 18-49 group this week.

So this is off of tvguide.com - some idiots query, and the resulting response. Both make wonderful points regarding my contentions of a slow trudge towards whatever the Hell it is they are moving to.
Is Heroes Off to a Slow Start?
Question: Scattered. Slow. Confusing. This season of Heroes has been downright awful, telling too many stories with too little progression and too many plot holes in each episode. Last week alone, Matt, Claire, Suresh, Hiro, Peter, HRG, Angela Petrelli, and Maya and Alejandro each had their own storyline and little-to-no interaction with any other character. We still haven't seen Niki and Micah or Sylar this season and many of the actors signed in guest roles over the summer, including Kristen Bell, have yet to make an appearance. I understand that Heroes isn't the type of show to kill off favorite characters (even if they fly into the sky and explode) for lack of nerve or whatever, but wouldn't it have been smart to clean house at least a little before the start of the new season? When second occurrences of superpowers are popping up in the show's 25th episode, isn't the ensemble a little too large?— Ken
Matt Roush: Far be it from me to defend a show that most of its fans seem ready and willing to accept, no matter its inconsistencies and unevenness and the way it skitters all over the map most weeks. But "slow"? Hardly. Scattered, yes. Confusing, but of course. When hasn't Heroes been a complete jumble? (Maybe the "Company Man" episode, still a series high point.) But I agree that the last thing Heroes would seem to need is to add more chaos to the mix when it can't even service many of the characters it has already established. I guess that's part of the show's "charm." Time/space continuum issues and logic aside, I have enjoyed the Hiro/Kensei storyline in ancient Japan quite a bit, although I really got excited when Kensei was struck by all those arrows. How daring. Until he suddenly healed and it wasn't. Once again, it looks like Heroes is making up rules about characters and their powers whenever it's convenient. And people (and Emmy panels) prefer this show to Lost? Whatever. Still, Hiro is fun. And his dad is dead! For good, it appears. Hmm. Also liking the Claire-and-family storyline about trying to keep her powers under wraps in a new high school, while the flying stalker classmate looks on. HRG working at the copy store is a riot, part of the season's trend of trapping characters (like Chuck of Chuck, and Sam and pals of Reaper) in dead-end jobs with merciless supervisors. But once again, it is absolutely a fair criticism of Heroes that it has overstacked the deck with an abundance characters of unequal interest (can't really say I've been missing Niki or Micah, who appear to be back this week). This isn't so much an embarrassment of riches as it is a puzzlement. But again, what else is new?

So check out how much a disaster Heroes has been. The creator pretty much came out and acknowledged "mistakes were made" and the show needs to be "fixed."
So what they are doing is, in the middle of a writers strike, is SHORTENING THE SEASON and cutting up the episodes already filmed to rush to a season finale. The season finale is now going to be in JUST FOUR WEEKS, on December 3rd.
What kind of show gives up original programming to get the Hell out of the season? This one.
I have to laugh that they are going to try and tie up this mess in the next four episodes.

Seems people are progressively getting down on this latest run of HEROES. Im kinda keen on this season, but folks are bailing.
From earlier this week on tvsquad.com...
Ratings for NBC's Heroes are falling each and every week. The most recent episode was down 11% from the previous week's numbers.
I gotta tell ya, I don't get it. I'm really loving this season, but TV critics left and right have given up on the show. Sure, it's completely ridiculous and over the top, but if you remember the first season wasn't exactly a PBS documentary. The show has always been comic-book crazy, so I wonder if the writers strike had a bigger impact on the show than we all thought. Or maybe people have just gotten tired of the show, not because of any massive drop in quality but just because they're watching other things, not into sci-fi as much anymore, or don't want to follow another show with a continuing storyline and a lot of characters. I don't know, but I do know that the show is a ton of fun to watch, and even if there is a lot going on, it's a great ride.
It probably doesn't help that the ratings for the lead in show, Chuck, are down 15%. Wow, if these two shows go away, what other hour-long shows will there be left to watch on NBC? I'm not sitting through The Biggest Loser or Knight Rider, sorry. I wonder how My Own Worst Enemy will do in the Monday at 10 time slot when it premieres next week?

There are plotholes this season big enough to drive a truck through. I've already talked about them with Tom, but don't want to bring it up on this board until some of the people working to catch up, say they are current.

Two Heroes Producers Firedwww.tvguide.com/News/Heroes-Producers-Fired-35149.aspxHeroes has lost two of its own - from behind the scenes.
Co-executive producers and writers Jesse Alexander and Jeph Loeb, who have been with the show since its 2006 inception, were fired due to creative differences, Variety reports.
NBC brass is reportedly unhappy with the series' direction (lest we forget, this is the season of "Villains") and the frequent overruns on Heroes' already large $4 million-per-episode budget.
The double axing is the latest blow to the once white-hot drama as it finds itself struggling with tepid ratings and fielding grievances from critics and fans alike this season.
Alexander and Loeb were the right-hand men to creator/executive producer Tim Kring. It is unknown if they will be replaced.
What do you think of this major shakeup? Is it all downhill from here for the show, or can it start anew?

So the total scrap and revamp is still under way here. Now they are likely to get rid of "serial programming" which means stories wont continue from week to week, with an ongoing storyline that ties in and wraps at the end. If this plan comes to fruition, and series creator whatever his name Krieg is pushing for it, each episode will stand alone like a weekly episode of Law and Order SVU or something.
Folks, we are ready to bail, and that would certainly be the last straw. I am actually enjoying this season, but I agree with most in that there are too many characters. Ratings are down drastically, and this idiot is actually blaming THE FANS for that.
Well, as Dana said in the car today, FU right back, we just wont watch your show.

Bail if you want, but I judge a show based on quality, not what the ratings are. The show was hurt badly by the writer's strike on top of a poor second season. But this year, it's been much better.

So says you, and I agree to an extent. But you know who disagrees? The thousands of people who tune out week after week, to where the shows ratings are down over one - third. People are HATING this show.
Too many characters, trips back in time, cute plot twists simply to say, "hey, look at us, we tricked you!" Balls, the fact that the creator of the show himself is yelling at fans of the show and trying to make it where each episode is not tied into any other should tell you this is broken, and bad.

Actually, that's not true. The general buzz is that the season is actually much better, but because of the slow start to this season, combined with the writers' strike and the long layoff, people stopped watching. This has happened with a lot of shows, not just Heroes.
There ARE too many characters, but the storylines are decent.

Balls, every week less people watch then the week prior. That is a sign of people losing interest, and jumping off a sinking ship.
You know, kind of like what happened with that disastrous Hogan Celebrity Wrestling show.
