TVGuide.com Readers: Get Rid of Kara!
Nearly 60 percent of TVGuide.com voters want "American Idol" to dump Kara DioGuardi from the judges' table.
Though the newcomer has brought some credible music industry insight to the panel, 59 percent of TVGuide.com voters would rather the show not renew DioGuardi's one-season contract, arguing that four judges are too many.
Among all the changes made to "Idol" this season, the one that has been the most hotly debated is DioGuardi's addition. Earlier this season, the judges' commentary forced "Idol" to run eight minutes long, interrupting "Fringe" and upsetting millions of DVR viewers. A week later, each contestant was only critiqued by two judges instead of the entire panel.
Six percent of voters believe a fourth judge isn't a bad idea, but they would prefer someone other than DioGuardi next season. DioGuardi has fans as well. Thirty-five percent of voters suggest that the new judge has added value to the show.
In an earlier poll, 89 percent of voters said they would rather see Paula Abdul leave the show when given a choice between the singer/dancer and Simon Cowell. Abdul's "Idol" deal expires at the end of this season, while Simon said he intends to leave "Idol" at the end of his current contract in 2010.
Meanwhile, TVGuide.com voters are already predicting which crooners they expect to see in the show's finale (May 19 and 20 at 8 pm ET). Not surprisingly, 39 percent of voters expect the Adam Lambert-Danny Gokey finale that the judges have been force-feeding viewers since Day 1. Still, dark horse Kris Allen is picking up steam, as 28 percent of voters expect to see him facing off against glam-rocker Lambert in the finals.
Allison Iraheta, however, has her work cut out for her. In a season where the men have dominated, only 9 percent of voters believe Allison will make the finals.

Allison SHOULD make the finals.
I like Kara, but wouldn't give a shit if she were dumped. In fact, it may be worth it, because she would be ridiculed every so often like Brian Dunkleman.

She will be the butt of jokes for as long as the show lasts.
She may even be blamed for the eventual shark jump (though I doubt it).
Overall though, this has been a very good season of this show. Much better than last year.

Way for Kara to be a moron & say Danny should have done earlier Aerosmith. Last I checked it doesn't get any earlier than "Dream On" and "Crazy" and "Cryin'" came a good 20 years later. So much for bringing credibility.

HAHAHAHA!!!! I came here to post that exact same thing, Dana.
flipping back and forth between the Dodger game, I caught that remark.
What a MORON!
I also saw the kid sing Whole Lotta Love (is he gay?). As I saw him and his SUPER fake SUPER contrived rock singer persona...almost like he read it in a handbook....all I could think as I looked as his spiky razor cut, dyed black and midnight blue, iron cross necklace, leather jacket....well, it just amazed me how times have changed. This kid is only about 25 years too late. I used to dress like that in high school and get in fights with football players because of it.....now it's trendy and cute.

Allisons going to go, but that will make me sad. Danny has yet to be in the bottom 3, he is not going anywhere. In fact, I think he is winning the entire thing.

If you were the only voter in the country, and got to choose the winner, who would it be?
For me, it would be Allison.

based on who I like, I'd pick Allison. Based on who I think would sell records, I'd pick Kris.

I personally like Allison the best, but she wont win, nor will she sell many records. I think Adam would sell the most records. I think Danny Gokey is really good too.

I think if Adam won, he would completely fall off the map. That's a very specific kind of taste right there.
Kris on the other hand, I could pretty much see touring with anyone. Country, that crappy college top 40, and whatever else. I think he's got that nice guy kind of Jason Mraz kind of thing going for him.

I don't see Adam in movies, though definitely Broadway. He was good enough to make Broadway before this, but now, he could end up with leads.

Adam Lambert (I assume that's the dude who sang Whole Lotta Love) basically ripped off Darby Crash's look 30 years after the fact, so yeah, I kinda dressed like that in Junior HS and HS...basically my every day attire. And don't freak out TOO much Balls...but I also drank and smoked a shitload of dust.

Did AT&T Influence Kris Allen's 'Idol' Victory?www.foxnews.comAT&T may have influenced the outcome of the “American Idol” finale by supplying phones for free text-message voting services at fan parties for Kris Allen, according to a new report in the New York Times.
According to the report, AT&T, one of the shows biggest corporate supporters, is the only mobile phone network that can be used to cast “Idol” votes via text. Citing both AT&T sources and people at the events, the mobile giant provided free texting-services at two Arkansas parties organized by Allen fans after the final performance episode of “Idol.” Allen was later named the winner of the show.
There were no reported AT&T representatives to provide similar services at any Adam Lambert support parties.
Moreover, the texting tutorials reportedly included demonstrations on how to send power texts, an act that sends up to 10 messages with the press of a single button. Power texts can have a substantial effect on voting results.
“American Idol” warns against power texting on every episode, noting that the use of “technical enhancements” can render votes invalid.
A representative for FOX Broadcasting denied any unfair advantage however, describing Allen's victory as completely legitimate. In a statement to FOXNews.com Wednesday, the rep said, “FOX and the producers of 'American Idol' are absolutely certain that the results of this competition are fair, accurate and verified. Kris Allen is, without a doubt, the American Idol. We have an independent third-party monitoring procedure in place to ensure the integrity of the voting process. In no way did any individuals unfairly influence the outcome of the competition.”
A spokesman for AT&T said via statement, “In Arkansas, we were invited to attend the local watch parties organized by the community. A few local employees brought a small number of demo phones with them and provided texting tutorials to those who were interested.”
Final voting tallies for Kris Allen and Adam Lambert have yet to be released.

Kind of stupid--what possible interest does AT&T have in Kris winning over Adam?
Plus, odds are the margin of victory was in the millions. Very doubtful AT&T changed the outcome.
On top of that, since they never release the vote totals, if there was a conspiracy, they just need to announce someone else.

Just shows how shady those cell phone companies and their employees are.
Likely this is much to do about nothing. Although, if you wanted to play conspiracy theorist, a company would probably more want to be associated with the more wholesome Kris Allen.

Except that the company really isn't associated with anyone from American Idol. But I do agree with you about one thing--cell phone company employees are really shady people. You have to be some kind of depraved individual to get a job at a cell phone company.

Lets not make this out to be more than it was. Im sure it was not a Corporate conspiracy that started from the top. Sounds like this instance could have simply been workers in a retail store with "inside information" how to skirt the rules, who happened to have liked Kris Allen, and sought out "Kris Allen Viewing Parties." And someone blew the horn.

I read a pretty interesting article that poses a theory about what happened and that how hometowns actually make a big difference. Basically, if you are from California, which obviously has its share of talented performers, someone like Adam, while impressive, isn't going to excite too many natives. However, a guy like Kris Allen, from the midwest where celebrities don't come along everyday, is going to mobilize and excite the locals, who will come out in droves to vote for him. Here's the article: www.tvsquad.com/2009/05/27/heres-the-real-american-idol-voting-conspiracy/
