Extending vacation one more day, so I can be around for Emmas first day of 1st grade on Tuesday, and her journey to this new district. I took a day off later in the year and swapped this off. So Wednesday Im back till mid-October. And I plan on returning to the board hardcore, so get ready to start posting.

What ever will you do next year, when you might actually have to go 6 or 8 consecutive weeks without taking any vacation time???

Looks like I'll be in L.A. for the Yankees/Dodgers kick next season. Until then, no vacations

Well, Im sure you folks are thrilled to hear Im having another go-around in regards to vacation. Week of the 16th thru the 20th. With a 3 day week Thanksgiving week, got a nice streak of working only 3 out of 16 days.
Ill be popping on and off the board, as Im not going anywhere...Emma has school this week, and Dana shares only one of my days off.
This is my last week of vacation for 2009, and I believe my 10th. Next year Im back to only, sigh, 5 weeks, as normal.

Just put Emma on the bus and grabbed the newspaper. Im going to check the regular websites for a bit, then watch wrestling tapes till about 11. Thats when I will retreat outside with a cigar and a couple of beers. Then I may watch one of the dumb movies I have backed up on the DVR that Dana has no interest in (Phantom Racer with the dead racer come back to life comes to mind) until I get Emma off the bus at 340.
These vacation days are tough hauls.

Well, Im sure many of you will be happy to know that my vacations are over for 2009. At the end of this, when the rubber met the road, I pulled 10 weeks off. Plus a couple of scattered days. Now Im back to , gasp, 4 or 5 weeks off for 2010.
One of the hazards of so much vacation is how backlogged and frantic actual work days are. You may have noticed my lack of presence around here, and some days I have not been able to log on AT ALL! But Im trying to rectify this, and will be back in a groove at some point, hopefully soon.

Well... My vacation is over. =( It was beautiful and perfect right up until about half an hour before I got to the airport, when some guy clipped the side of my car. But aside from that one mishap, it was fantastic Lots of driving, lots of smoking, lots of laughing. no worries. The best. Now, just waiting until the next time off.... Christmasynewyear.

Going anywhere warm, or just taking mental health time away from the office?

Both. Going to the Bahamas. But fear not, for I still hope to return to Turks in the near future.

Way to travel on Christmas!
Im not on vacation, but you can call today one. I called in, due to sketchy roads, Emma being off today, and revenge for shovelling for 2 hours yesterday morning only to see the plow came by again last night and forced me out for another hour to get rid of what they dumped in front of our driveway.

I can't think of a better day to fly when you're Jewish. As long as no snow storm screws up the flight (which can happen any day this time of year), it's a good day to go.

Hell, I"m not Jewish, but I'd be up for travelling on Christmas. I used to work next to a Jewish guy, he was looking for something to do on Christmas, I said, go to AC..... he was like, really, do you think they're open? I said they only close if they can't find enough Jews and Muslims with gambling habits....
Oh, and for the record, I'm about to work my last hour for the year.

Well, new year. King of Vacations has to remember how to work for a stretch. Aside from the odd day off here and there, looks like my first vacation this year wont be until later June.
This after a whopping TEN WEEKS plus off in 2009.
I do accrue over 5 weeks over the course of the year, so by the end of the year I will end up taking almost 30 days off, but its certainly not 50.
Sigh. Well, it was fun while it lasted.

Well, been on vacation these last few days, which explains my utter absence from the board. Not much going on this time around, as we are dealing with our cat battling his health, and Emma has / had school all this week but Monday. Dana and I did spend some quality backyard time the last couple of days, where the grill was kicked, and I enjoyed some cold beers and a couple of cigars. Actually, enjoyed the beers is a stretch...not much a fan of these Blue Moon Spring Ales.
Not much planned the rest of this vacation either. Did our planned shopping excursion yesterday for some stuff for the backyard, and a heap of bargain books at Borders. Getting set to put Emma on the bus for the morning.
As to the cat, he is positive for Feline Leukemia and really there is nothing that can be done for him. We've sort of been advised to enjoy him while we can and he is in no pain / absolute discomfort. He is eating and drinking little, and much more lethargic than usual. The only energy he really shows is on a couple of trips we have allowed him outside this week. We are considering a trip to the vet by the weekend, but know that once we go there, he wont be coming back. Tough haul.

Well, its not exactly a "vacation" - till the week starting June 28th, anyway, but Im off today. Forced day off to make sure Emma gets on and off the school bus, as her normal watch has important plans elsewhere.
So basically from when I put her on the bus at 8:45 till I pick her up at 3:30, I have the day. Dana is also stuck working. Im going to grab the paper, have a leisurely read, and then watch some backed up DVR fare till 11AM. At that point I retire to outside, for a couple of beers and a cigar. Then I wil either watch a wrestling shoot interview or research for tonights MLB draft until I get Emma.
Looking forward to tonight. Draft coverage kicks at 6PM, and Dana is bringing home pasta dishes from Spasso's vaunted "Pasta Night" so dinner will be easy tonight.
Dont get many off-days like this, so looking forward to this one.

Well, its been a while, huh? Vacation starting for me at the dawning of this day.
One week. Sadly Dana is working just about all of it, so its Daddy-Daughter for the most part. But on top of that, its an escape from work. To say things here have been overwhelming is quite the understatement. This past week what should normall be run by a staff of 6 or more was run by me and one other person. So that explains my absence from the board as well.
Ill be on and off next week. Lets keep the discourse going. I will be sure to describe any and all capers Emma and I wrangle up.
