Both of whom are better than a guy who hits .158 and is out of shape. It's not reaching at all. This isn't the steroid Andruw Jones. This is tubbo Andruw Jones.

LOL @ tubbo. I didn't want him here, either, but thinking we're fine with Melky and Gardner isn't exactly sound.

for what he signed with, it was worth a shot to see if he could beat out melky and gardner. if he couldn't then cut his ass.

I thought Andruw was worth a shot, until all this shit came about with A-Rod. Yankees can't get involved with another questionable player and steroids!! We've had too many issues and off season events surrounded by players admitting or getting caught with roids. This is about 3 years in a row that we've had a player at the pinnacle of this issue. Yanks need to start towards righting the ship in regards to "stand up" guys. I'm not saying to try and buy-out A-Rod, but need quality guys. Hopefully, Tex and CC turn out to be those guys.

People are already starting to speculate about Tex.....after all he was part of that same Texas Ranger "culture" they are trying to blame the ARod thing on. There are a whole handful of guys on that 2003 club that have flunked tests, or are known abusers. Tex best watch himself. All I'm saying is lets not start naming "quality guys" without reason to know for sure they are. People were calling A-Rod one too.

It's never been alleged with Tex to the best of my knowledge.

I did not say it has been. But the problem is he was on a team with a whole heap of guys who have come out as users. Even ARod blamed the "culture" of that clubhouse for part of his problem. Also, go back and review - Tex sure put on a lot of cut from before he came in, and through his early career. Just sayin.

And that's why these tests need to be made public. It sounds like Tex is guilty by association. But didn't he HATE ARod?

Maybe he hated A-Rod, but liked Caminiti, who was also on the team.
Who knows. Just sayin.

Selig F'd this up big time..He should just come out and say we messed up during this period, it is what it is and we are moving forward....I could care less if every Yankee or a Red Sox was juicing 5 years ago........majority were doing it so it is much to do about nothing in my eyes......

Every single player is under suspicion anyway, so what's the difference at this point? And again, I'm not defending Pay-Wad, but I'm waiting for Eckstein and Sojo to be named at this rate.

And, again, why were you guys not saying all this stuff when it was just Bonds being raked over the coals?
ARod is done and buried, his legacy is smoldered. Deal with it.

Abreu to the Angels for 1 year, $5 million. Wow. I think he slightly underestimated his value.

Actually, we're both wrong. What I meant was that Abreu OVERestimated his value. Shows what we know. Have to tip my hat to the Angels on this one. That's a great signing at that price. May his defense haunt them.

There are two sets of values:
1. If the Yankees want you. 2. If the Yankees don't want you.
If he signed with NY, I bet he would have gotten a 2/25. They like to pay double/triple what anyone else would - for some reason.

The Yankees may have only SLIGHTLY underestimated Abreu's value, by offering ZERO......only slightly though.

What would CC have pulled in if it wasn't for NY? How about Arod? They'd both be at least $50 million lighter in the wallet. NY has no clue basically. They know they have to overpay guys to get them to come play for that circus act.

The Dodgers land the O Dog for a year to man the 2-bag abandon by Jeff Kent.
DAMN! I was hopeful that, as long as he was unsigned, the Yankees were going to find a way to make it happen!!
Damn Cano!

I know the WBC gets a lot of slack from people, but I love it. Is anyone else watching it?
It was exciting to watch Yu Darvish pitch for Japan. Now I'm watching the rebroadcast of NED and DR. Cincinnatti's Edinson Volquez has been really solid this post season but is getting pretty knocked around right now. Young pitchers getting frustrated and not correcting themselves? Say what!

Ive been reading about Darvish for a while in Baseball America, I would have liked to have caught that tilt. I actually saw him pitch on YouTube of all places.
Im going to watch a little of the WBC today. I have no problems with the WBC.

Cincy isn't even as high on Volquez as they once were. He's not their number and may even be slotted behind Arroyo.

Bonson's definitely a number 3 guy. Assuming that Aaron Harang can make up for last season they'd probably put him at #2 behind Volquez with Homer Bailey or someone like that rounding it out, maybe Cueto?

Post by Chris on Mar 9, 2009 12:59:52 GMT -5
Well, according to Arroyo and his conversation with Baker, Harang is number 1, and Voquez and Arroyo are a toss up for #2.

I'm sure it's possible. But Harang will really have to show he's better than '08 to make it to #1. I personally wouldn't put him there, but hey!
