Hey folks. Just popping in to wish the tidings of the day to those so inclined. Balls is quite conspicuous by his absence in wishing his Santa fans a Merry Christmas.
Anyhoo, what did ya get? I will be back later with an exhaustive list of my spoils. Wife treats me well. I also have some cool Emma Christmas tales, her awe and wonder at this magical Santa Claus is a joy to watch.
Enjoy your holiday!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a very lovely necklace and some excercise equipment which is just what I wanted among other things like books, dvds, a bracelet and watch, some sweaters, several gift cards. Woo-hoo!
Oh, and I got to rip apart about twenty toy boxes. Those twisty tie things suck ass. I don't even untwist them at this point, I just rip them off. Stupid toy companies.

Girl, Interrupted (I love Angelina Jolie) and Annie (the original- which was my favorite when I was Em's age so I want to watch it with her) also the HBO series Band of Brothers. I also got a digital camera a few weeks ago which I first said would be part of my present but then I decided, nah, I'm just getting it.
Emma cleaned up pretty nicely, she got a couple of gift cards, "Puppy Grows and Knows Your Name" two games for her handheld Leapster video game, a V-Smile (which is like toddler Nintendo), a Barbie Island Princess playset, a Barbie with a horse, some My Little Pony stuff, a big Polly Pocket doll that you can put "make-up" on and stuff, three Webkinz, Shrek the Third, Sponge bob Operation, Guess Who?, Moon sand, Aquadots, the wrestling action figures and ring, an art desk, some little kid card games, a Barbie puppy w/ a vet kit, a computer game, an Easy Bake Oven, some Littlest Pet Shop stuff, snow boots, sneakers, clothes, lip gloss, nail polish...... and so on......

Corrent me if I am wrong, but I think the aquadots were recalled.
Was it because of the Chinese and tainted lead? If so, we ignore those recalls. My daughter does not put this stuff in her mouth.
I got heaps and gabs of stuff. A watch was the centerpiece. A couple of CDs off the wish list. A DVD copy of one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, Big Hot American Summer (is that the name??) - a couple of stylish shirts for work. A handful of rocking tomes to read, which I shall discuss in further detail throughout the day. And two must-have wrestling DVDS, the complete collection of WSX offerings, and the WORLD CLASS DVD from WWE. World Class was a promotion I held very dear.
My stocking was full of a heap of goodies, like Nascar ornaments for the tree, some 2007 TOPPS update cards, some candy bars. My wife did a wonderful job setting me up with ample fare.
My Secret Santa (hey Laura!) got me the singlemost funniest book I think I have ever owned, and I can say that only 10 pages in. More on that later too.
I think I did just as well as my daughter!

I know the movie you are talking about. Camp movie. It was a solid flick. I wouldn't call it one of the funniest movies ever, but you have been deprived. Isn't it true you haven't even seen Caddyshack?

Balls, just do me a favor. Watch it again. Movies like that age from viewing to viewing, and are even better next go-rounds. Oh, and how could you go wrong with this camp flick...there is even a cool "montage."
As to Caddyshack, I have indeed seen the movie, and own my own copy. One of my favorite flicks. You may be thinking of Animal House, in regards to what is looked upon as "classic comedy" that I have not viewed.

Tom, I think that the aquadots, when eaten, are basically a date rape type drug. Eve if Emma doesn't put things in her mouth, friends, etc. may, and thus be drugged.

A) those chineese can't be trusted, always trying to get us with some shit. B) kids who put foreign(no pun intended)objects into their mouths are dumb, and their parents are bat shit crazy. As long as any kid knows not to do that, they can play with whatever. I find it hard these days to believe any parents, especially Tom and Dana, don't precaution their little ones to not to do stupid shit like putting strange things in nthier mouths. Kind of unrelated, but my grandma was saying how back in the day they use to eat raw chop meat before knowing how that's really not the best thing to do. These days people are smarter and more aware of the dangers with putting anything from food to toys in their mouth. an infant, k sure, but still unlikely since infants shouldn't be out of sight. But kids 5,6,7 and up, know a thing or two about a thing or two, I think.

I got a nice day with my kids and watch my little girl go ape shit after being inundated with one High School Musical gift after the other. I'm almost tempted to have her send Sheriff Tom a thank you card for the High School Musical for Wii suggestion - she loved it.
My 3 year old son was enamored with the Fisher Price Power Wheels ride-on battery-powered bright orange Tony Stewart/Home Depot race car - he drove that thing into the ground.
I got a nice bundle of Cuban Seconds (cigars), a 1GB mp3 player for my 14 hour flight to Japan this Friday, a plaid Yankees hat (I like it, I know it's very Puff Daddy of me, but I've admired this cap for a while), Superbad, Bad Brains, and Velvet Underground DVDs, a framed reprint of the Edward Hopper painting "Nighthawks", lots of sweets, and a bitchin' pair of black Vans (look like Chuck Taylors but they have velcro ... do you guy have Vans on the east coast) which I like so much that I blatantly disobeyed the "Business Casual" dress code at work today and wore them.

"Oh, and I got to rip apart about twenty toy boxes. Those twisty tie things suck ass. "
Tell me about it. Those goddamn things are the bane of my existence. I dread Christmas mornings for that very reason. Why the need to fasten down a $10.00 toy to a 19 cent piece of cardboard with 39128493859485 wire twist ties strong enough to tow a car with.

Good score, old chum. Hey, here were the 3 tomes waiting under my tree Christmas morning. First two were wish-list items, and the third was a Dana exclusive! Relive meek Dr. Donald Blake's transformation into the legendary God of Thunder in this collection of the Mighty Thor's earliest classic adventures! With his mystical hammer Mjolnir at his side, Thor sets out to bring justice to Earth. Collects Journey Into Mystery #83-112. Starred Review. Ferling, professor emeritus at the University of West Georgia, caps his distinguished career as a scholar and popular writer on the colonial/revolutionary period with arguably the best, and certainly one of the most stimulating, single-volume histories of the American Revolution. Exhaustively researched and clearly written, it stresses the contingent aspects of a war where victory depended on making the fewest mistakes. Despite chances to end the war in battle, by negotiation or by international conference, Britain failed for lack of manpower, the decision to wage limited war and an ineffective central government—and above all, comprehensive underestimation of American military effectiveness and political resolve. America's cause, ironically, nearly foundered on reluctance to support a standing army, and a government that wasn't strong enough to plan and execute a concerted war effort. That popular enthusiasm never broke owed much to a stable French alliance and to George Washington, who was a good diplomat, a better politician and an excellent judge of character. Steadily growing into the responsibilities of commander in chief, he achieved legitimate iconic status by the war's end. Ultimately, Ferling demonstrates that independence was won through the endurance of the American people and their soldiers, who held on for that last vital quarter of an hour. Baseball and ghost stories are as American as apple pie. Haunted Baseball combines both in this fun and freaky collection of otherworldly yarns. Assembled from baseball players, stadium personnel, umpires, front-office folks, and fans, the tales told here explore the spooky connection between baseball and the paranormal. We learn of the Curse of the Billy Goat that still haunts the Chicago Cubs, of hidden passageways within the depths of Dodger Stadium, and of the spirits of legendary stars that inspire modern-day players at Yankee Stadium. We hear why Johnny Damon believes in ghosts and how the memories of a 9/11 hero inspired Ken Griffey Jr. to hit a home run against the Phillies—a team against which he’d never even gotten a hit! There are the stories of how Sam Rice settled a decades-old baseball controversy with a message from beyond the grave and how the late Roberto Clemente had premonitions of his own death in a plane crash. With a wealth of anecdotes that have never before been told, the authors present an entertaining and eerie look at our national pastime.

They have Vans on the East Coast, but I've mainly seen them without velcro. Vans rock.
I had a pleasant Christmas. Clothing was the order of the day. I guess it always has been, but the funny thing is that when you're a kid, you hate it, and when you're a grown-up, you really want it. Got some other knick-knacks as well, including a pimpin' Broncos Santa hat, a Yankee one as well, and the pair of White/Blue/Orange Starbury II low tops that I have wanted forever but couldn't find a Size 13 at any of the Steve and Barry's I had been to in this great land of ours. Other things like getting my car insurance paid made this a Merry Christmas indeed.
And more to come! I am going up to see Amy on Friday, and we will have our Christmas then. I am very excited about the gift I got her. I don't think there's any chance she'll be on this board in the next couple of days (or ever), but I'll wait until next week to describe it all the same.

It was a light Christmas here. Although most of what I wanted, I got throughout the year. When you are married with kids, the gift thing isn't quite as cool as it was when you were a kid. Any gifts that I would have gotten come out of my paycheck, lol.
Anyway, I got a Gator's pullover, a White Castle oven mitt, a Got Tebow? t-shirt and a Coach Leather passport holder (from the MIL, and I hate Coach)..... and also a Gator's headcover for my driver.

My wife and I raid one anothers wish lists, which still leaves quite an element of surprise and the fun of picking out gifts, as you are only getting a certain percentage of what you want. Keep in mind there are still over 150 items on my Amazon wish list.
We also pick out some surprise gifts, and thoughtful sort of fare as well. I am already missing the idea of presents under the tree. For the first year, Dana and I wrapped our gifts to one another and put them under our tree. It was fun to see them there for the last couple of weeks. Emma of course was left out somewhat, although she knew she had a full stocking, and her stuff was coming from Santa.

Love the Vans. I have rocked, almost exclusively either the Vans "old skools" (they're called that NOW anyway, I wore them when they were revolutionary...hahaha) .... ...or black or white lo-top Chucks since I was 12 or so ...back in the day when Vans were still called "Van Doren"...and that's all I ever wore. To this day when I say that I need new shoes, the wife knows that we are headed to the Vans store. Glad to see the greatest pair of kicks ever made has made it's way to the east coast. These are my new Vans:

I still have an old pair of the Jeff Spiccoli model (slip-on black-and-white checkered). They're actually not in bad shape. I might have to bring them out of retirement.

Tom/Dana - got any shots of Emma and her gifts...any other parents out there gonna share the experience? I was telling my Dad today how when I was a kid I NEVER understood the "gift of giving" but now that I am a Pop, that is the best part of Christmas by far. Here's Mickey (yes, his name IS Mickey..not short for anything...Mickey) sporting his racing car:
