My kids live in La Habra, CA....neighboring city to Whittier, CA (home of the Octo-Mom).
My son gets on the phone with me last night and the first thing he says is, "Daddy....um Daddy....we....we.....WE SAW THE OCTO MOM TODAY!"

My daughter's school has this "Caught In The Act" award for when a kid gets caught doing something good.
There is a bell system at my daughters school - and when the warning bell rings, you need to be on your way to class...not going to the bathroom or getting a drink from the drinking fountain.
Apparently my daughter took it upon herself to "stand guard" at a drinking fountain after the warning bell, and she turned in two kids for goofing around at the drinking fountain after the warning bell.
She got a "Caught In The Act" award for this.
I was dismayed.
I told her teacher that I thought it was HIGHLY inappropriate to award her for this. Further, I told my daughter that HER job at the warning bell is to follow the rule and head to class....not to worry about whether or not other kids were getting to class. I also told her teacher, by standing guard more or less at the water fountain, wasn't she indeed also violating the warning bell rule also by not high-tailing it to class? The teacher won't retract the award, but I urged her to please NOT enforce this kind of behavior.
I need to find the Bobby Brady Hall Monitor episode of The Brady Bunch and show it to my kid.

You should be glad you didn't get a call saying 'your daughter got shoved over for guarding the water fountain'

What a wonky scenario, Cho. Im with you, I would not exactly put that award on a mantle in my daughters room.
Over at her school they had a system that when they were traveling to and from the playground, they walked in single file, holding a rope to stay together. Sure enough somehow she got tangled up in the rope and plunked against a wall. Apparently it was cause someone "pulled the rope." Teacher was very mad at whoever did it. She knew who did, and would not tell - the whole idea of it made her aghast. She does, however, admit to me who did it.
It was Frankie.

I think he is one of the boys she seemingly had a crush on, so I would rather she didnt.
Emma once got split up from another boy in class right in front of Mom cause they were holding hands during a class show or something. Teacher went right over, split them up, and moved them to different places.

HAHA!
My daughter often lets me know that she gets upset from time to time about her lack of girl friends in class.
I talked to her teacher about her overall progress/behavior, and mentioned this....the teacher said that is probably because she is ALWAYS playing tag or kickball or roughhousing in some manner with BOYS. This is odd to me, because I often perceive my daughter as being very "girly" at home....I guess her school persona is quite different.

I was the same way. I used to always have to be April O'Neill when we played Ninja Turtles because I was the only girl :-(
