This is tight. This is a "fan-cam" view of the Angle video from the arena that night of the big surprise. Watching the crowd pop, after a few of them were predictably chanting Goldberg, will give you a goosebump. I miss being live in a crowd, reacting to something like that. This in itself is a vindication for TNA. www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFQh-XMbILA

TNA's ultimate goal is to go up against Raw on Monday nights. That is the working plan. It could happen as early as early next year. A lot depends on the ratings, if the ratings in Prime-Time solidify, SPIKE would be more open to moving TNA up against Raw, live, 2 hours a week. The sources I have are convinced its a matter of when, not if.

It does make sense, and if a few more people jump, there will be the star power. It would be basically a rehash of WCW.

This show is worth the watch. It was taped a week ago, the spoilers (what I remember of them, I gave them the once-over) looked good.
Tonight you will see Kurt Angle's in-ring debut for TNA vs Abyss, Christian vs Rhyno in a barbed wire steel cage match, a 3-way between AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Chris Sabin, Samoa Joe vs Jay Lethal, and Team 3D vs The Naturals (w/ Shane Douglas) In a Tables Match.
Also, LAX are threatening to torch the American flag in the ring so all sorts of hoopla should ensue, the "former" James Gang continue their declaration of War against the WWE with some video, and in another TNA/MLB crossover David Eckstein is shown in a taped interview with Jim Cornette.

Watched the Road Dogg declare war on McMahon. It just seemed like a bitter ex-employee rather than something exciting. Not exactly Scott Hall entering Nitro.

Well, they've been there for a few years now so it couldn't be. It was more along the lines of trying to win some disgruntled fans over, which is starting to happen. Fans are pretty fed up with the WWE's direction, so TNA sets up this prime time special with a decent amount of action, hoping it will boost PPV sales too.
Tumbs up to the cage match tonight.

It felt like I was watching a copy of a copy. It was ok, but it felt second rate. Like they're REALLY going to attack HHH.

Balls, forget about that part of the show. Overall, the show was a breath of fresh air, and the fastest-moving 2 hours of wrestling put on this year.
And the majority agree, with over 90% of respondants in a poll on the Torch website giving the show a 7 or higher on the 10 scale...that has not happened for any wrestling show in years.
The only question is that once TNA does nail down a permanent second hour (they go back to 60 minutes next week) how will they keep this pace going.
Great wrestling show. If this was on against Raw weekly (and that is the longterm goal for TNA) I would watch this, and tape Raw.

Without that lame Road Dogg/WWE feud stuff, what I saw was decent. Nothing blew me out of the water though.

It was a solid set up show, and at the same time it showed casual WWE fans that they do it right. They did a good job of showcasing their talent as well as solid segments shwoing the X-division and who each wrestler was.
Balls, if you have a DVR I suggest you start to record it. There's some solid matches you might enjoy.

I may, but I admit that the Road Dogg/Billy Gunn thing was really lame. They should worry more about establishing their product than talking about the competition.
Seems also like a haven for rejected WWE Divas.
I still think Christy Hemme was arguably one of the hottest chicks in wrestling history.

So, if she is one of the hottest chicks in wrestling history, what is wrong with TNA bringing her in? And Gail Kim is one of THE top womens WRESTLERS in the business. The WWE let her go cause they are not into women "wrestling" so TNA was smart to scoop her up. They have a much more minimized focus on the women over there. They also have a couple exclusive to the brand. How is having Hemme a bad thing.
Who cares about what those two idiots did in the ring regarding a war with WWE? That was one small part of a very detailed, and very good, show.

I'm not impressed with Gail Kim, and who cares if she's a top woman wrestler? She probably sucked someone off to get her spot. The whore.
Nothing wrong with TNA bringing in Hemme. Not sure why the WWE let her go, since she was a hell of a lot better than most of the divas they have now.

Who knows. She doesn't do much aside from interview people and announce what's coming up later on in the show, so she probably told WWE she didn't want to take bumps and they told her to take a hike.
And the New Age Outlaws thing was bland, but it was a small part of a large and great show.

Actually, if I remember the story on her, she was a pain in the ass backstage. I also think there were travel issues, that dont come into play in TNA. And she DOES want to wrestle, and is training as such. She should step up into managing soon, as she does not want to stand there holding a mic, and shows more personality doing just that than most divas do roaming around ringside pretending to be managers.

Ahh, well there you have it then.
Either way, I don't see hwo you could not be impressed with the product last night, especially since WWE has been so bad as of late.

I hated Duke the Dumpster. Boring.
I was once seen on WWF TV in the front row "throwing my hands in the air" for Men on a Mission though. But they sucked after they dumped Oscar.

Well, as they grow they will chnge their style. There's no way around it. They also went through cycles where it was boring, just as the WWE is going througha boring cycle right now.
What's important is that they might be able to get bigger and better, and give the WWE serous competition. Then, Vince will stop being lazy and make a better effort with his product, and then we all win by having more than one good wrestling show.

BaseBrawl of champions at TNA event
Catcher A.J. Pierzynski of the 2005 world champion Chicago White Sox picked a fight with World Series MVP David Eckstein of the 2006 world champion St. Louis Cardinals during the TNA pay-per-view Turning Point on Sunday, Dec. 10 from Universal Studios Orlando.
Pierzynski had a shoving match with Eckstein. Pierzynski's pal Dale Torborg, the strength and conditioning coach for the White Sox and formerly the Demon in WCW, slugged Eckstein's brother, Rick, a minor league coach.
''Dale and I were a little upset that they got the big entrance, yet we just got introduced from the [seats]. Plus, they got the [entrance] music, and we didn't,'' Pierzynski said. ``It was a little disappointing. We got a little jealous, so we took out our frustrations on them.''
Pierzynski and Torborg tore Eckstein's new inspirational children's book, Have Heart, which led to the pull-apart.
''As a kid, I always enjoyed wrestling,'' said Eckstein. ``All that went down. Wow. That was unbelievable. Things got a bit heated with A.J.
``When you step into the ring, you're stepping outside your comfort zone. I can handle playing in front of 45,000 [baseball] fans, but going out in front of the TNA Wrestling fans who always want to see action, I was nervous.''

With Raw off on Monday, Feb 12th due to the silly dog show, TNA will be offering up a 2 hour taped edition in that normal time slot. Let the war begin, somewhat so. Its a good move. Many folks are attuned to grappling on a Monday, and no Raw is leaving a hole. Last time the dog show came around, Raw was broadcast on Sci-Fi, but apparently Sci-Fi is running some sort of marathon this time.
A live show would have been preferable, but outside of us hardcores that does not matter much to people. The show would be rebroadcast on Thursday during TNA's normal timeslot, which I think is a bit of a flub. They should have a new episode Thursday, stemming off of a "cliffhanger" Monday night.
Eventually the plan is to go head to head with Raw on Mondays. It will happen, methinks.
