Nice to see Billy Jack getting the rub
Ironically enough BJ also was featured in a match and interview on the weekly CWF card featured on 24/7.....

I am ready for a 24/7 update as I went through just about all the stuff I wanted to see..I didn't watch the Sherri stuff and the two PPVs just don't have the time for full 3 hour cards...I like the Shorties, Sprecials, HOF and Primteime stuff....

From JR's latest blog....
The WWE has acquired both Stampede Wrestling and Smoky Mountain Wrestling and both will be featured on WWE 24/7 in the future. I really enjoy WWE 24/7 and I understand more Legends Roundtable segments will be taped within the next couple of weeks or so. I am looking forward to being a part of them.

Fantastic news. Stampede has a lot of historical value, and Smoky Mountain was just plain out of control Southern style wrestling, with Jim Cornette's fingerprints all over them.
They just did update, Cap. Rotated out the latest Primetime and added another TNT show. Added a Saturday Nights Main Event, and a new NWA Saturday night show. I also have not been able to sit down and watch the 3 hour PPVs, per se, but I taped a selected few for later viewing along the line.

Grover DOES get the service. And the difference in price between the television one and the online one is only a couple of dollars, so I would go for the television one.
Cap, is your 24/7 on the same TV with DVR/TIVO? Cause it helps to be able to fast forward through things or watch at your own pace. When I am in the bedroom and I cant move back and forth once I hit play, it drives me up the wall.

So, I called RCN to ask about my internet/phone service that was down, and they had someone working on it.
So, when the guy asked if there was anything else he could do, I asked him to put WWE 24/7 in.
I watched some WCW, and I already got my money's worth. Holy crap, I saw the Midnight Express squash the worst jobbers I've ever seen in my life.

Hear, hear! Good move. You wont regret it.
I too watched that NWA show this past evening. My favorite part is the interviews at the desk. Flair put on quite the show over there this evening, putting his rant on Carlito to shame, 22 years back. Great to see such luminaries as Black Bart, Ron Garvin, Dick Slater, Kevin Sullivan, and light heavyweight legend Denny Brown.
Awesome!

That whole show was awesome. Man, I don't remember the last time I heard the "We'll be right back" music with the little message they would show about the guy who just won.
I also forgot how bad David Crokett was.
The funniest part was Jimmy Valiant coming out to some goofy music, working the crowd over with "FM 100 means music" tights and working a sweat from holding a jobber in a neck hold for 5 minutes and finishing him off with an elbow off the ropes. Talk about the least amount of work possible.
I started Saturday Night's Main Event, and watched a good match between Macho Man and Bret Hart. I'm glad I also have the HBO show 'Extras' to watch, or else I would finish this in two days.

Well, there is like 50 old "new" hours of programming a month, and a lot of it changes week to week. So if you DO see something you consider a must watch, watch or tape it first, cause it may go. I think on Thursdays the sked changes a bit.
You picked a great "first episode" to hop back in on - Crockett was doing the show by himself that week - who the Hell knows what Schiavone was up to - being on his own showed his weaknesses even more. Otherwise his general exuberance for the product was a fresh breath. One funny thing last night was the impassioned speech he gave addressed to Black Bart, dressing him down for his cheating ways.
I HATED Jimmy Valient, although his promo about his dogs at home never needing to wear a collar but he had one ready for Paul Jones was pretty funny.

I didn't think much of Jimmy Valient as a kid, but looking back at it now there is some comedy to it.
I just finished the SNME they had on, and that was funny. Good Hart/Savage match. Bundy never came across as a threat to me so his matches with Hogan were never in doubt. George Steele's promos seem less funny now then they did back then.

So last night I dipped into the MSG card they have up for 9/23/85. Already saw 3 battles from it recently, as they were on MSG Classics a few months back, those being "The Collasal Jostle" with Andre vs Bundy, and a Hart Foundation/British Bulldog instant classic. I think match 3 was Funk/JYD.
Anyhoo, watched a couple of interesting battles from this card. Check em out.
The opener was a scientific battle between vet Les Thornton (a Southern staple) and Scott McGhee, a promising grappler who starred on the Florida circut (even pinning Champion Ric Flair in a televised non-title bout) before going down to a stroke.
I challenge some of you to get through this one. It went nearly 20 minutes of hold/counterhold. Keep in mind the crowd, even then, had no idea who these guys were, and they were a bit restless. That always takes away from the match. All in all, I did like the match, which McGhee pulled out with a cool pin combo. With the exception of some nasty forearms, they mainly kept it to the mat. An interesting match of the likes you will never see again at a WWE show.
Second match was one Balls creams over - two dead guys. Adrian Adonis, who was on his way to blowing up like a balloon, and Quickdraw McGraw, who died just over a month later. Adonis won the match, with his manager Bobby Heenan at ringside even getting in a shot. Funniest part of this was Gorilla and Jesse covering up for Adonis' disgusting weight gain by actually mentioning it could have been intentional to add more power to a snap DDT sort of move Adonis added to his arsenal, where the more weight added makes it all the more devestating. LOL!

I watched both while Rita got ready to run some errands during the day.
Since it was so early, I must admit, my eyes drooped during the first bouts rest holds. Adonis was indeed looking portly.
Which brings me to a funny clip from the "Monday Night Wars" section where the nWo took over the booth, and Teddy Long came out looking quite chubby, as noticed by Kevin Nash who said "A very robust Teddy Long coming to the ring.."
It was also funny seeing how bad RAW could be a times. They had a ton of guys who would end up saving the company, but at the time they were just slopped together. Jesse James coming out singing his country song was gay, so was Justin 'Hawk' Bradshaw branding him at the end of the match with a branding iron dipped in black ink.

As to the old MSG stuff, the rest holds were going on and on, but there were a heap of counters to keep things moving along. It was a wrestling clinic of sorts.
In regards to Nitro, Long was just coming off his "feud" with Nick Patrick, and was taking up the cause of Chris Jericho, who was continually being wronged by the crooked NWO to be ref. Long was indeed looking much rounder. His head was bulbous.
Part of the fun in watching old wrestling is seeing the way characters changed/evolved, and there are not so many as drastic as Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw / JBL.

How about Debra getting catty to Benoit about Woman? LOL! I loved the Horsemen, but I always hated Mongo McMichael. Well, I loved it when he would talk, because he spoke as if he had marbles in his mouth.
Which parts changes week to week? The Monday wars?

Monday Wars is updated weekly. They switch out the Prime Times and TNT episodes pretty quick as well. The territory shows move in and out, seemingly at random. They seem to be up a couple of weeks each, but again, if there is one you consider a must see, see it fast.
Some things, like the Hall of Fame stuff, seem to be on all month. PPVs too. Honestly, there seems to be no pattern I can ascertain about how they move things in and out.

Well, either way since I have time I went through most of it quickly. I hope the Monday night wars are updated weekly, I'd love to watch those again and see the stuff I didn't tape.

Well I finally got the DVD recorder last night....It also seems as if you cannot DVR 24/7 on Cablevision not that it would matter as I would run out of room, so I figure the DVD recorder will come in handy (already copied the TNT episode)...Right now I am copying all the MSG classics that I saved from the summertime......

I can't record it either because it's part of the 'on demand' category. So, there's no real reason to DVR it, just watch and wait for the new stuff.

Grover, you cant record while you watch? I had read only Comcast had a block in place, and that was a glitch they were looking to fix. It was unintentional. I am able to record whatever I am watching. This is going to speed up my grab of a DVD burner, cause I could burn up a lot of this special stuff and save space.
I do like watching on DVR, where you have FF and rewind control.

It's weird I can DVR a PPV (or at least I was able to a while ago) but can't 24/7...but the DVD recorder I think is best way to go for saving stuff....For some reason my recorder stretches the picture just a little more than more normal TV does in widescreen and can't seem to adjust it but it is not that bad....

Well, I would think one reason you could DVR a PPV and not 24/7 programming is cause PPVs have set time slots and time starts, and 24/7 does not. 24/7 can be started or played anytime.

I tape it by recording with my VCR remote as it plays on the DVR. Use your VCR/DVD remotes.

A heap of programming has switched. A couple of "new" PPVs, including this past Survivor Series. A new episode of Prime Time, a new Diva special for all you hornballs, and another Legends Roundtable. Most importantly from my standpoint, the debut of World Class episodes on 24/7, including this debut gem from 1982 which featured the first appearance in the fed for Michael Hayes. Have not watched yet, but I believe this series of episodes is hosted by Hayes and Kevin Von Erich.
