2 things:
In the 1990 All Star Game, Greg Olson appeared for the NL representing the Braves, and Gregg Olson appeared for the AL representing the AL.
The second batter due up in the 9th (who was pinch hit for) in Len Burks' perfect game was Danny Ainge.

Today, July 12th, 2010, is the 40th anniversary of Doc Ellis' LSD-fueled no-hitter.

The greatest accomplishment in the entire history of sports. I love how he at times when the catcher would throw the ball back sometimes he said it was the size of a pea and other times the size of a soccer ball or something. The best is when he dove to the ground like a comebacker was going for his head and it was a lazy bloop to the infield, I only saw some of the game footage on youtube but what I saw has me laughing.
Oh and I just read a story that Brian Wilson is being fined for the shoes he wore? Get the fuck out of here? Shoes are the reason a guy gets beat by a pitch? The manager of the Marlins was the asshole complaining to the umps and the National League fined the guy a grand or something I think........what an asshole move. That's really fucking lame.

James, it was a grand because he wore orange cleats. I think they dinged Pedro a few years back when he was with the Sux for a red glove.

Which is why I wondered how a color of the cleats beat the batter.

a red glove is a bit more than orange cleats. Although... only getting fined a G isn't really a big deal, relatively speaking.

I could careless about the money, I can get a g in a day hustling. But how does it get implied the color of a glove or cleat can be the reason a pitch beats a batter? I hate Pedro. I'd test the limits of madness if I have to come up with a top list of my most hates people ever, Pedro, Manny, Farve, that damn Sasquatch, The Nazi's and the damned Apache just to name a few. But I won't sit here and say the color of his glove is the reason he got guys out.

I don't think it's that he "got guys out with an orange glove" as it is so much about rules of uniformity. Posada got in trouble last year for writing 15 on his mask in honor of Thurman Munson. Similar to how Peyton manning was once fined for honoring Johnny Unitas, by, if I remember right, wearing high socks
