Just saw The 300 over the weekend. Liked it. Didn't expect it to be as good as it was.

I watched Running with Scissors on DVD last night. Maybe I'm a sap for anything about writers, but I loved this movie. The acting of the main kid bugged me a little bit but overall, I can't say a bad thing about it. Def worth a look.

Happy Feet: A Review
My husband and I rented Happy Feet recently for the kids to watch.....kids under 10 years old. I was very surprised by the content of this flick. The music bored me and the song selection was inappropriate for young kids. Such as: "Let's Talk About Sex", and "I'll Make Love To You". The chase scenes were violent and scary. I also felt it had too many heavy plots vying for main plot status. One plot was that it was okay to be different and touched on religious topics. In one scene, Mumble, main penguin, is seen as different and the elder the penguins refer to his dancing as "pagan ways" and send him off for attempting to dismantle the unity of the group. Another plot was on environmental issues.....which is what I think they should have stuck with. One theme I think should have been excluded altogether was on mating/sexual relations. Young kids definitely do not need sexual content in their movies. No snaps from me, "Hated it!"

It's pretty funny how much more discerning your eye gets when viewing with kids, isn't it!
I realized this when watching Beverly Hills 90210 with my 7 year old playing in the living room at the same time...and realized that as tame as I find this show when watching alone, it was entirely inappropriate for my kid and I immediately switched of to The Suite Life of Zack And Cody! HA!

I saw Blades Of Glory. This was not a movie that's going to alter your list of favorite movies of all time, but it has it's funny moments...and worth the price of admission.
But what's more interesting was the preview for the upcoming Adam Sandler/Kevin James movie in which they are NY Fire Fighters, pretending to be gay, so they can "unite" and take advantage of some clause in the NYFD pension plan.

I watched "Duane Hopwood" this weekend - really good movie about a divorcing alcoholic pit boss' (from Atlantic City) struggles.
Probably the first decent movie role I've even seen David Schwimmer in....also stars John Krasinski (The Office) and Janeane Garofalo. It's a much milder Leaving Las Vegas vibe - but really good nonetheless. Check it out - netflix.

I concurr on Blades of Glory. I laughed quite a bit during that movie. Will Arnett is one funny dude. I highly recommend Arrested Development just for his performance as GOB

After a disappointing evening of Yankee baseball, followed up by a disappointing evening of Kettley's Near Beer softball in the Newport Beach Adult league (even though I had a solo dinger to break a tie)...I am settling in now for a little Tenacious D And The Pick Of Destiny...I'm only about 5 minutes in he's praying to Dio after a spanking from his Dad...and I'm laughing my ass off!
It's all about THE D!

I watched Sixteen Candles for the first time the other night. It was Mothers Day, actually. I am a good Dad and Husband. For what it was, the movie was fine. It was an easy 90 minutes. Not my style of flick, per se, but compared to a lot of the hogwash I read about on here, I would pick Sixteen Candles off the shelf again.

You never saw Sixteen Candles, back in the day? I love that kind of John Hughes fluff... they are not too long, light & really leave you feeling good at the end...

Currently watching Blood Diamond. Quite possibly one of the most boring movies I've ever seen, and quite possibly the worst acting job of DiCaprio's otherwise stellar career.

Saw Pirates 3 last night. If you're a fan of th series you'll like it. And as far as threes go, it hold up there. I thought it was better than Spidey 3 and I loved spidey.

I watched Speak last night. One of those teen coming of age stories I like. This has Kristen Stewart in it as a high school freshman who was raped the summer before and is alienated from everyone at school. Sick part is, Kristen Stewart was only 13 filming the movie. Did I sick or sexy? Kristen Stewart is easily one of my new favorite barley legal peices of ass.

So Dana and I saw Spiderman 3 this weekend. Not only was it my favorite of the Spiderman films, it was one of my favorite movies of all time. Dana felt the same way. I had heard the negatives, I knew it was long going in, but it did not drag, and I enjoyed it. Sure there were things I could pick apart, and other things that made me groan, but it was good fun.
It gets my highest marks.

Mentioned elsewhere, but I caught Strangers With Candy a few evenings ago.
One of the funniest movies I have seen in recent memory. I was literally crying at certain points and had to pause it. I used to watch the show on Comedy Central and found it funny, but I did not expect the movie to be so fucking funny.
I believe, though, that it is one of those films that you either 100% love or absolutely hate.

I had my complaints about Spidey, the same as others, and found myself enjoying Pirates 3 more than Spidey, but I agree with Tom and Dana Spidey 3 is better than 1 and 2. My friends, cousincs etc all feel the same. Sure there were those hokey parts that made me say what the fuck is this, but break it down, Spidey 3 had more of everything. Better villians than the first 2, instead of working to win MJ over, Peter Parker has to work to keep her as compared to the first two, better action and fight scenes etc. Please don't be a mark and say the first Spidey was the best and don't be foolish enough to say number two. Three wasn't just better on enjoyment level, but logically too. And if Jake Gyellendouch has to step in cause Tobey I think I'm a serious actor doesn't do a fourth I'm going to cali to fight the both of them, and then fuck Kirsten Dunst in the mouth, if she's not Mary Jane again cause she thinks Marie Antioneete makes her credible, well the she deserves a drink from the toilet. Thinking of this crap gets me really mad.
Silver Surfer better kick ass.

How are you a mark to think that the first two are better? That's a ridiculous statement. The third movie dragged in spots, and tried to do way too much.
The Venom storyline could have carried the whole movie by itself. And what is it with every single villain learning that Peter Parker is Spidey? I'm tired of that.
The New Goblin storyline wasn't very good either. It took away from the movie.
Sandman is now the Uncle Ben shooter? Way to pull that stupid plot out of your ass. That was just as bad as having Jack Napier be the one who killed Bruce Wayne's parents.
Venom alone should have been this movie.
There were plenty of flaws in that movie. Don't get me wrong--it had its good points too and I don't think it sucked by any means. But it was easily the worst of the three.
As for Silver Surfer kicking ass, in theory it should, but a good comic book movie is the exception, not the norm, and the first FF movie was not very good.
I don't know if Galactus makes an appearance in this movie either, which will hurt the storyline.

Well to be fair, Doc Oc only found out cause asshole Parker took his mask off.
The third had better drama in it, 3 villians who kicked ass, and I don't disagree, all three of them could have been a solo villian for thre next 3 movies, but it added more of a "what if" factor instead of "I wonder how spidey will solve this one". 3 def dragged at some points, but if you look overall at the movie it takes nothing away, so going by that it stands alone as the best one. You said yourself Venom rules(who knew they kid from that 70s show could pull it off), that gives the nod to spidey 3 hands down.

I guess one of the biggest problems was the Harry Osbourne plotline. It was just not needed. Drop him from the movie entirely. Either that, or drop Venom.
It wasn't just Doc Oc finding out. Hell, an entire subway car full of NYers saw him without his mask. Seems like in every superhero movie, this stuff is happening.
Batman told every hot piece of ass who he was.
I don't mind when people who are supposed to know find out. Obviously, MJ knows in the comics and would know in the movie. But all his enemies? They should be fighting on just who gets to kill MJ and Aunt May.

The train thing didn't bother me, cause it was showing that the city cared about spidey cause a young kid was saving lives and taking a beating doing it. And how can a train full of people, which could only be a hundred and change in one car max, make a dent on a city full of millions? I think you're nitpicking.
Bruce Wayne did that cause he was a laides man, that was part of persona. He used it to get pussy. If you had a bat car wouldn't you tell every hot peice of ass you were batman?
I too agree the new goblin thing was rushed, but you got your wish cause if they do more, harry is gone. But I can see why, if they do more they have tons of villians they could use so i see why they'd get Harry out of the way. But I find it hard to believe Eddie Brock/Venom is done. He wasn't even in half the movie as Venom, I think they'll use some malarky angle to get Venom in some more.

Bruce Wayne: Ladies Man was a disguise designed in part so that no one would connect him to Batman.
Bruce Wayne really wasn't a playboy. He was dedicated 100 percent to being Batman. It was his focus and his life. Everything else he did was to further his goals.
And if you or I were one of the top 5 richest men in the world, we wouldn't need a batmobile to get hot chicks.
Another issue I have with movies like these is that they keep killing the villains.
I didn't like it the first time it happened with Joker. Just because a villain is alive doesn't mean he has to be used again in the next movie. No need to kill both Green Goblins and Doc Ock. I didn't like the deaths of Joker/Penguin/Two Face either.
The Batman movies (before Batman Begins) were not movies to pattern after. They weren't good at all.
The train thing bugged me because people shouldn't see his face. If he kept his mask on, the only thing that would have changed was "he's just a kid." They could still convey the feelings the people had for him.
Venom can definitely get back in the action. But I just think that this third movie tried to accomplish too much.
