The new Manowar. Holy friggin' crap! This stuff is so over the top, so bombastic, its insane. At parts, its absolute genious. Yeah, it drips with schlock, the spoken word oratories and choirs seemingly from Valhalla itself are just, whoa. There are some real rippers on this disc, but you have to poke around to find them. Mixed in with lots of grandoise speeches of war, and orchestral soundings. I like.

New one just came out on the 3rd. A good grab, through all the cheese.
CLASSIC AC/DC offering. One I no longer own. I may need someone to burn said offering? Perhaps for a burning of the new Manowar Cd, maybe....hmm.

I'll probably buy the Manowar CD because I'm a sucker for reading all the dopey shit in their liner notes, but that doesn't mean I won't burn AC/DC for you!

We'll chat! But good luck with the liner notes...they are written in some archaic style, and a code is provided for the reader to decipher it if they so choose....no joke! Its page after page of things I cant figure out.

Good old Manowar. Good to see they're getting even weirder in their old age. Dungeons & Dragons meets metal.

Hey, Al, get on burning that Lightfoot for me, posthaste! I was swaying to the sounds of "Carefree Highway" on my MP3 this morning, on the way into the big city. As for me, burned up a few Adam Ant tunes for the player last night. The song "Wonderful" is savagely underrated, and could bring a tear to a stone statue. Such a sweet ditty, and I am not joking nor being gay.

"Desensitized" by Drowning Pool, with the second singer, who replaced the guy who died on the tour bus. I usually dont gravitate towards this sort of band, its cookie-cutter metal for the most part, but for a genre with tons of generic bands, this band does it well. This is a darn good CD, and I have been playing it quite a bit the last couple of days.

Hooray Viking metal! ENSIFERUM - VICTORY SONGS This band mixes elements of thrash and straight up black metal. Abrasive vox for the most part, crushing and quick guitars, and some banjo and other folk interludes. Songs about Viking warfare, and the coolest covers in metal. I would hang this cover on my wall, Danas protests notwithstanding.

I'm assuming that you're talking about the Beach Blvd compilation Domi. Glad you got your hands on that - that is the seminal SoCal punk rock compilation. That does for SoCal punk rock what the classic Punk And Disorderly series did for UK punk.
Ummm, the Simpletones??? HAHA - yeah, heard of them. Maybe someone I know played bass with them for a second at an old Return To Beach Blvd reunion show many many many moons ago...wait, was that someone ME...oh yeah, it was me. I got hooked up with those guys through mutual friends in other bands Rik L Rik, The Crowd, Suicide Door, Das Klown, etc...
Man you pulled that one out of left field Domi...some coincidence.
Love the tune, "I like drugs." - "Yesterday, I went to school dusted...DUSTED....people say I will soon be busted....BUSTED" HAHAHA - love that song as I can relate to going to school DUSTED many a time.

Coop and Tobin, on WPDH, out of Poughkeepsie, online at www.wpdh.com Coop has been a fixture at that station, on and off for years, and has partnered with Tobin (who was an Albany mainstay for years) in the past. Its funny enough. Kricket is the third wheel, she adds a lot to the show and her voice and laugh is easy on the ears. Coop has the most gravelly voice on the radio, its endearing. Give them a try if you are bored, 5:30-10AM, Monday through Friday. Its not a zoo, its just a fun yapfest. I was actually listening to Coop (with then partner "Mikey") on 9/11, and got the news of the Trade Center getting hit from a studio upstate NY.

It's actually 20 Simpletones tracks, released by Posh Boy a few years ago under the album title I Have A Date. I found it on Soulseek the other day. At long last, the complete recordings of legendary pop punkers The Simpletones. The boys from Rosemead, California who gave the world such classics as "I Have A Date", "California" and "I Like Drugs". Includes rare previously unreleased demo recordings. Imported from Germany. Also included:

No surprise there that it's a Posh Boy release...probably the coolest label ever as far as southern California punk rock goes. A LOT of legendary bands who went on to much bigger and better things were part of the Posh Boy stable at some point in their careers.
The Beach Blvd collection I mentioned is a Posh Boy release. Another favorite of mine from them is Hell Comes To Your House. A lot of SoCal punkers owe their legacies to Robbie Fields and Jay Lansford, who was in probably every Posh Boy band at some point. I would still see Jay on occasion when he visits from Germany to do Channel 3 shows...but don't really know what he or Snickers or any of those other guys are doing any more. But I still keep up to date with members of the Crowd.
I would highly recommend checking out The Crowd if you like The Simpletones.
***EDIT*** - WOW, apparently Snickers is DEAD!!! Had NO CLUE!
