Mail? Dave, are you kidding? You live what, 3 blocks from the fuckingCablevision store? WALK over there and demand your DVR!!! When I was in Hoboken, I always just walked in there if I needed something done, because the morons who work in the plexiglass cage are MUCH smarter than the ones who answer the phone.
You have certain inalienable rights, and access to a DVR box is one of them.

Ok, folks, another couple of possibilties, Thursday night starting at 9. I am going to be taping them regardless, for later viewing. If anyone else does, and we watch them at some point, we have a club!
9PM, on Sci-Fi, is ICE SPIDERS. I mean, how dumb is this? Basically, GIANT spiders escape from a TOP SECRET LAB to wreak havoc on a SKI RESORT.
I mean, ummmm....
Then, at 11PM, a more serious movie simply called ICE comes on. Its an end of the world movie, with the sun "burning out" and people struggling to get to the equator to survive.
I think the first one especially fits the bill. Anyone up for ICE SPIDERS??

Alright my favorite thread. Who needs movies trying to be GOOD. I love the worst of the worst. ICE SPIDERS it is, and even ICE look like a good schlock-fest!!! Count me in as usual. A frozen-fest for a hot summer's eve.
Gotta love a storyline about a cold blooded creature causing havoc at a ski resort!! How can it NOT be bad!
Cheers TJ

I knew you would be good to go. I was just hoping you would log in in time. I am going to tape both, but make a point of watching Ice Spiders first, as it sounds the more campy. The other one is probably one of those "we are trying to send a message" preachy movies hidden behind a cloak of scamboogery so not sure when I will get around to viewing it.
But Ice Spiders - I'm on it!

Wow, in setting the DVR for this offering, I stumbled upon it's lead-in movie - Caved In. Another classic eastern European film, this one from the Carpathian Hollywood - Romania. Need more, I'll give you three words: GIANT RHINO BEETLES - Nuff Said. And check out this IMDB review: www.imdb.com/title/tt0468461/Yet this is too much bad movie programming for even me to indulge, these days. So, I'll have to dvr it for another day.

Bad news....hold up. This morning, when I flipped on the bedroom tv, where i had taped these movies, the sound was off. I checked the mute button, and it was NOT muted. I changed the channel, and there was volume. It was Sci-Fi...I rewound a little on the tape, and at least during that part of "ICE" there was NO SOUND. When I get home, I need to doublecheck the first movie, if it taped without sound, I am screwed on this one...
I have no idea what happened, and why. And I am none too pleased about this, as I have been talking Dana's ear off for a couple of days now about these movies.

Yeah, rewinding through it appears the sound died in the midldle of the movie. Have to scrap both of them. My guess is its an issue with the tape, as this is the second movie I taped on this tape that lost sound.
So tonight I am going to try and tape "Insecticidal" which is a movie about two sorority girls plagued by giant bugs in their house. 3AM, on Sci-Fi. And YES, I would rather watch this than "The Bronx is Burning."

I think that was the lead-in to the two ice movies from last week. You can check for replays on tvguide.com in the search option, I guess its called "CAVED IN." I will keep an eye out for it, if it pops back around I will let you know, surely.

Crap! I am bummed I missed this gem. I am sure Sci-Fi will replay it 30 times before the year is out, though.

Hey, you guys have another chance to see the hacker/slasher pic with the Pirate come back from the dead if you read this before 3AM.....on Sci-Fi, its Jolly Roger!

So its leading in to Halloween, and Sci-Fi is chock full of these bad movies. I think I am DVRing "Sasquatch Mountain" for starters. Here's a possible idea for the club.
Saturday night there is not one, but TWO, "Headless Horseman" movies. I think one is brand spanking new, made for the channel. I think thats the one I am going to go with. I dont think I have the palate for two of them. They may conflict with my emotions/fears.
Outside of the club, feel free to partake in the movies offered. That pirate movie is on there. The movie with the werewolves fighting soldiers is on too.

Well, tomorrow night ABC Family Channel has a doubleheader of what could be the latest abomination. There are many things wrong with this attempt to cash in on the holidays by throwing Christmas in the name, and as a theme.
CHRISTMAS CAPER - after a botched robbery, a thief (SHANNON DOHERTY) looks to lay low by babysitting her sisters kids. She also plots a new heist while hoping to get revenge on her last partner. (directed by David Winkler)
Running at 8 and 10 on ABC-FAM, which is channel 49 on my tube. Feel free to partake!

I just set the DVR for this one, but given the title and the fact that 90210 star Shannon Doherty is in this movie, my wife who is a sucker for Christmas movies, will want to watch this one rather than just me DVR it.

Just make sure you have a lot of booze on hand.
We're DVRing it for certain, so we can at least get through it in an hour and 20 minutes, sans the commercials. I'll try to get to it asap, especially now that I know someone else is on board with me.

Ok, got it DVR'd. My fear is that rather than be "Classically" bad like Python v Boa, this will just be painful to watch Shannon Daugherty. The Bad Movie Club is about the real crap-de-la-crap, and like a snob, I need multiple categories of tripe, including poor acting, cheaper-than-cheap effects that would never be considered 'special,' no production value, and little or no plot payoffs at all. Maybe that's why I like LOST - and the Bad Movie Club. If I only wanted one of those categories, I could just see any movie out today. - I leave that to Domi's Downtown Bohemians.
Although I must say, Shannon can really pick a crap-ass script with the best of them. I bet a monkey flinging shit at a wall of choices would hit a better script once in a while.
But I did also notice a wealth of other shitty fare on ABCfamily's lineup. including a woeful looking Groundhog's Day rip-off - 2001's Christmas Do-Over, starring Jay Mohr.

I think the selling point for me, aside from the train wreck that is Shannon Doherty, is the campy "babysitter" angle, and the fact she is a "thief."
This one is a bit out of the box, and its funny you mention the other shitty holiday fare - this movie was the "best" of a bad lot, in terms of fullfilling our "holiday quota."
Some of you should have watched the Sci-Fi original we watched last night, "Headless Horseman." Rather than involve Ichabod Crane, it was a convuluted mishmash of lost teens in a van, inbred hillbilly types, a gooey ooze that needed to be fed heads, and a horribly unflattering "Headless Horseman" who even hopped on a motorcycle at one point.

So we watched this in it's entirity, and I have to say that "Christmas Caper" is not a bad movie, it's a terrible movie. I can't wait to hear what everyone else thinks.

Cool deal, we'll discuss in much more detail after myself and Marc get this one in the books. I can tell you this, it may take me towards next weekend to lock and load it, but fear not - its on the Brown family viewscope.
Thanks for watching, and I apologize. I look forward to watching this with some beer and cynicism.

I actually went through quite the ZIMA phase. Sadly, it was during the magical Yankee run in 1996. I cant believe I fouled that with Zima, in retrospect....but I was having fun at the time. In fact, to this day, if I stumbled upon a Zima and took a sip, it takes me back to hanging out in the park outside the Stadium, rocking the Zimas.
