OK, here's another one of my dumb ideas.
A bunch of years ago Grover and I were at the spearhead of a bad movie club. We would go to those ghetto video stores that had bargain bin VHS movies for $2, and get the worst movies we could find, and watch them. Drink beer, laugh, play the worst parts again.
What say a few of us watch bad movies here and there, and then chat about them on this thread. I found a great place to start. You dont need to watch the movie now....tape it, DVR it, TIVO it, whatever. Maybe try to watch it in the next week or so. We can do this now and again. Suggest movies possibly, but for now let me pick and we wont do it too often as we all have too much to do as it is.
Sci-Fi seems to be running a snake marathon Saturday. At 9AM, on SCI-Fi (ch. 48 by me) has an awful movie called Python vs Boa. This sounds bad on SO MANY LEVELS. I bet its boring, as well as stupid. This is a six-packer for sure...
GENETICIST TEAMS UP WITH A HERPITOLOGIST TO PUT A STRANGLEHOLD ON AN 80 FOOT PYTHONS KILLING SPREE BY BREEDING A 70 FOOT BOA-CONSTRICTOR
Anyone up for giving this one a gander?

I think the best time to do this is during the summer, when there are no TV shows to catch up on. Don't know if I'll be doing it this weekend, but I shall likely participate in the future.

Dont tell me about "best times." Its 90 minutes out of someones life. People can do it if they want, or not, if they dont. I am starting this over the weekend, and if I have to talk about it with just my wife at home, I will.
I'm not looking for people to report back to me on Monday with their opinions on it. Anytime in the next few weeks they can revisit the thread and comment on it. There is no set timetable. In fact, maybe we can even consider watching an hour at a time, and speculate on what will happen.

If I'm gonna get up at 9 a.m. on a Saturday, I expect Jessica Alba in a bikini, not two snakes.

Don't you people read? Tivo the thing.
I WILL be up at 9, thanks to my daughter, but if you think I will be watching that at that time, you're crazy.
Just tape the damn thing.

Your brother made me sit through 12 hours or however neverendingly eternally long those 3 Bored of the Rings movies were, and you are suggesting that I voluntarily sit through a bad movie? I sit through enough of them by the force of others or by accident.

Alcohol helps, Laura. Or at least it makes this kind of movie funny. I mean, a snake bred to fight another snake? Gold!
Lord of the Rings, though....nah, those cant be salvaged.

i 've heard this movie was pretty bad, i may have to check it out, the movie in question? "Leprechaun in the Hood"
let 's see what we got,He's been in the country side, he's been downtown, he's been to Las Vegas, he's even been in space, now that evil Leprechaun is in DA HOOD! Three young rap artists are looking for a break. They need money to buy some music equipment so they can go to Las Vegas and enter a contest. They meet up with a local pimp named Mack Daddy who agrees to "hook them up", but later declines. The rappers want to get even with him so one night they break into Mack's place and steal alot of his jewelry, gold, and even the medallion off an ugly looking statue. Shouldn't have done that! Because without the medallion, the state transforms into the Leprechaun, who goes on a killing spree once again looking for his missing gold, once again! And the song says it all, "there's nothin' scarier than a Lep' in the hood!" . sounds shitty

You're the man. You wont regret it. Well, actually, I am sure you will, as will I and anyone else who has gumption. I mean, they breed a snake! To fight ANOTHER ONE!
How can this go wrong? Well, except for dozens of ways.

I will get in on this.
How much time do you plan on giving us for discussion before assiging a new movie?
FYI Tom - I actually like this idea. I used to be in a similar club, with a membership of 1! I would get my hands on the worst, low budget Kung Fu flicks, get drunk, and watch them...occasionally I'd have a guest viewer, but mostly it was just me, a 12-pack of The King Of Beers, Bruce Li and a pack of jungle Kung-Fu fighting gorillas. I still have the evidence in the way of a massive collection of bad Kung Fu flicks on VHS.

Thanks guys. I think this could be a hoot. No rush on the next movie. A couple of weeks, at the very least. Maybe a month? Feedback is encouraged, let me know what we want to work with. I mean, I could even give each dumb movie its own thread, and people can come on as soon as they finish it, even if its that weekend, and revisit it when someone else watches and posts. If you have not watched yet, simply avoid the thread till you do.
Cho, that was exactly how that all started for us. Trips into the cheezy video places, dominated by Kung Fu stuff. I saw a couple of those drunken master type movies, and went from there. We got the videos for like $2. One I remember is DOUBLE TROUBLE, with this pair of bodybuilding twins. It was a comedy, a term I use loosely. On a lesser note, I watched a horrible Lifetime comedy romance called Au Pair with Big Tone Capone (Anthony G) and a case of beer. We had found the nanny character "cute" but secretly just wanted to watch a stupid movie and riff on it.

I am getting psyched for this. The woman is gonna be away for the weekend, so I've got the couch all to my self. And I found this great review on IMDB B Movie? This ain't even a Z Movie to me This movie is just an sick joke of cinematography. It is so much of a shame to my native country Bulgaria that we agreed to be part of this disgusting kind of so called movies. So many and so talented and promising Bulgarian actors works here if not for support roles than as mutes in order to earn for a bread, because their salary is about $3-$10 per day. It sucks big time. Your boring tasteless and inept dumb movie excuses sucks big time. Please please God save us from the American "cinema" which is made only for the sake of money.

Double Trouble was a classic when it comes to bad movies. I've seen it many times when I was in college. It was one of those movies that always seemed to be airing the day after a big party when everyone was just lounging on the couches rather than going to class. Another bad movie that I remember was "Lambada (the Forbidden Dance)".

I think sufficient time has passed to comment.
Like the teaser said, this was a fine production from the republic of Bulgaria.
I thought it was funny that most of the extras were locals, so if you didn't know, you'd think half of Philadelphia were Slavs. I think the effects could have been cheaper, but not by many Rubles. Also I think that all professional women, like scientists and FBI agents should wear belly shirts and should get drenched in water every 20-25 minutes.
And if there is one thing better than a genetically engineered 80 foot snake, its TWO genetically engineered 80 foot snakes. And if there is anything better than an 80 foot snake its a 80 foot snake thats also a webcam? Will technology never cease to amaze?
I also would like to commend the roomfull of monkeys who came up with this barnburner. And don't think I didn't appreciate the irony that the climactic slither-off between the title characters Boa and Python, takes place in a nightclub emblazened with poor renderings of Cobras! It's called symbolism, duh.
I won't spoil further, as I am sure the taste I just gave was enough to entice you to give this gem a shot. But soon or later, I'll detail further some of the cinematic mastery of this picture.

I made it clear that there was no urgency on anyones part to drop what they were doing to get this done. From my original post on the matter...
You dont need to watch the movie now....tape it, DVR it, TIVO it, whatever. Maybe try to watch it in the next week or so. We can do this now and again.
