Sorry dude....I didn't go back and check the WHAT AM I LISTENING TO thread.
Make that FIVE 1100 Springs CDs ready to roll.....anyone else?
As a HEADS UP to what is coming your way, here's a c/p of the track listing sheet I wrote up:
Track1: “Long-Haired Tattooed Hippie Freaks” – taken from a live radio show broadcast called Humble Time radio featuring Texas Singer/Songwriters. Track 2: “Something To Remember Me By” – from 1100 Springs first demo CD “Welcome To 1100 Springs” circa 1999 Track 3: “A Straighter Line” – from the recent “A Straighter Line” and “Bandwagon” CDs – a song about addictions and redemption Track 4: “I’m Back” – taken from the self-titled Strap CD, “STRAP.” Strap was an incarnation of a Matt Hillyer (vocals), Steve Berg (bass) band. Matt and Steve are the primary players here…they are my good friends and I have included songs from various points in their musical careers. Strap was a straight up rock-n-roll band with influences ranging from The Cult to ZZ Top – circa mid-late 90s. Strap merch is also available by contacting 1100 Springs through their website Track 5: “Buzz Killer” – intro track from the Strap CD. Track 6: “Folsom Prison Blues” – forgive the poor sound quality. This is a track from early Lone Star Trio rehearsals. Lone Star Trio was a traditional 3-piece rockabilly band - Matt and Steve’s initial foray into music. This track is easily pushing 20 years old from a time when Matt and Steve were about 16 or 17 years old – the time about when we first became acquaintances through a mutual friend Jim Heath (The Reverend Horton Heat) and club promoter/talent manager “Linda” of Linda’s Doll Hut fame. Track 7: “Four Walls” – taken from the “No Stranger To The Blues” CD – 2000 Track 8: “Gone Crazy Blues” – taken from “Welcome To 1100 Springs” – 1999 Track 9: “Hall Of The Mountain King” – instrumental taken from Lone Star Trio’s only full length release. I’m going to guess, from memory that this track is from sometime between 1993 and 1995. Track 10: “Hank Williams Wouldn’t Make It Now In Nashville Tennessee” – from the “Bandwagon” CD. This track pretty much sums up the bands motivation for even existing – an apathy for the pop-stars-in-cowboy-hats that the modern country music scene has turned into, and desire to return to the “glory days” of country music, back to the days of optimal popularity AND credibility with artists like George Jones, Johnny Paycheck, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, etc… Track 11: “I Can Get Off On You” – another early Lone Star Trio rehearsal. This is a cover of a great Willie Nelson/Waylon Jennings tune. Track 12: “I’m Comin’ Home” – taken from the now out-of-print “1100 Springs: Live At Adair’s Saloon” record. This is a cover of an old Johnny Horton tune. This one is a rebel-rouser! Track 13: “Don’t Mean A Thing To You” – taken from the acoustic (mostly acoustic) release “A Straighter Line” – 2001 Track 14: “Movin’ On Up” (aka The Jefferson’s Theme Song) – another early Lone Star Trio rehearsal track Track 15: “No Stranger To The Blues” – taken from the “No Stranger To The Blues” release – 2000 Track 16: “One I Need” – Taken from the “No Stranger To The Blues” release – this is a remake of an original Lone Star Trio track – the LST version was much more rockabilly Track 17: “Raise Hell Drink Beer” – 1100 Springs’ battle cry. Taken from the “Welcome To 1100 Springs” release – 1999 Track 18: “Rock Island Line” – taken from “1100 Springs: Live At Adair’s Saloon” – Johnny Cash cover. This is probably the band’s most popular live song. Track 19: “Sad And Lonesome Song” – taken from “No Stranger To The Blues” – 2000 Track 20: “The Ballad Of Anna Stone” – taken from “A Straighter Line” – 2001 Track 21: “This One Wish” – taken from “Welcome To 1100 Springs” – 1999 Track 22: “Thunderbird Will Do Just Fine” – taken from “A Straighter Line” – 2001 Track 23: “Why You Been Gone So Long” – taken from “Bandwagon” – 2004. This is an interesting song. Matt and Steve got their first break as backing musicians for Texas rockabilly legend Ronnie “The Blonde Bomber” Dawson (probably not a legend to you unless your some sort of country/rockabilly aficionado). When Matt and Steve formed their own band, Lone Star Trio, Ronnie would do this song with them and actually recorded the vocals for this song in an early Lone Star Trio rehearsal. Years, decades, later, Matt and Steve, now fully entrenched in 1100 Springs after many incarnations of bands, decided to re-record this song for the “Bandwagon” release. They took the old Ronnie Dawson (who had died since, sometime in late 2003) vocals from Lone Star Trio rehearsal tapes, cleaned them up and mixed them in with this track.

Let's resurrect this thing.
As noted in the What Are You Listening To thread.....
I went through all of my CDs, and was able to narrow down 242 songs "THAT KICK ASS."
I have made a 2-CD collection, 121 songs per.

242 songs? Wow! Yeah, I'm up for doing something like this again.

Disclaimer - they are on 2 CDs formatted as a DATA CD containing 121 mp3 files each.
These are not audio CDs. Fortunately for me, my car stereo plays MP3s.

I figured that. I didn't think you put S.O.D.'s Ballad of Jimi Hendrix on a CD 121 times! ;D

I am so naive about things I dont know how that sort of thing works.
How do you move that sort of stuff into your Windows Media player, per se?

You should be able to move the files from the CD to the hard drive. Just put them wherever you're keeping the rest of your muzak.

Yes, it's a data disc Tom.
It's no different that storing mp3 files in a folder on your hard drive, only these are stored on a CD, and you can play them on your Windows Media Player right from the disc, or upload them to your MP3 player, whatever.
If you're lucky you have a stereo or car stereo that reads MP3s, so it doesn't have to be a audio-formatted disc.
If not, and if you like the 121x2 songs enough that you want to hear them on your non-MP3 playing stereos, you'll have to convert them to audio CDs using Windows Media Player, which will probably wind up being something like 20+ discs.
Actually Nettles, it's Diary Of A Madman, saved 242 times on 2 discs - ;D

Not sure if anyone likes The Police, but I have a Sting show from 6-13-93. To me, its pretty good sound quality. Here's the setlist:
Blackbird If I Lose My Faith In You Love is Stonger Than Justice A Day in the Life Fields of Gold Synchronicity II Every Little Thing She Does is Magic Roxanne Englishman in New York Purple Haze King of Pain When the World is Running Down Tea in the Sahara > Consider Me Gone (w/Jerry Garcia)

The Police are a GREAT band.
To me, in the 80s, they and bands like Midnight Oil, The Alarm, Joy Division, and early (pre Molly Ringwald) Psychedelic Furs were always a nice bridge between punk rock and top 40 music.

Vin, I have a couple of good ones for you. Jay-Z mixed with Dave Matthews and Jay-Z with Coldplay. It's crazy how they mix the songs with Jay's lyrics and make it sound that good.

At some point I would like to jump back into this, both feet forward. But I wanted to come in and point out one simple face - 9's "ALCOHOL" mixed CD is one of the greatest mixes of music I have ever heard, period.
Damn, this flows, and damn, does it make me want to drink. 9, great mix, great melange of drinking tunes, some cool sounding bands I wish to explore. I have this here at work, its been sadly neglected. I am taking this home tonight and making sure i load this into my player.

Yeah, I TOTALLY spaced on the 1100 Springs Samplers I burned for everyone. I still have them all in my brief case. I just no longer have the list of people who wanted them, nor the addresses.
