I figured we had a place to badmouth the Yankees radio team as a whole on the other board, maybe we should have one here (a "Michael Kay Must Go thread should probably be started to address the TV team too):
Suzyn Waldman is just slobbering all over Jorge's defense today. You'd think she was his agent.

Well, if you are not a fan of the radio team and plan on doing some bashing, get comfortable. They have both reupped through 2011.

Now that this is done, Cashman can focus on Mariano's extension

I'm pretty sure that anyone who tunes in regularly to the Yankees on TV, is happy to hear Waldman on the radio...

But anyone who sits on the beach every weekend and relies on the radio for Yankee baseball wants to gut Waldman with a butter knife, then hang Sterling with her entrails.

Come on..its fun to go the beach, listen to the game, then come home to catch the replays on YES to see what really happened.

You're really not far off at all. I love to watch the highlights and find out that the "it is HIGH ... it is FAR ... it is GONE!" home run landed in row two inches from the pole.

I had to leave early for a family thing, so I got stuck hearing the end of the game by Sterling. He called Tampa Bay the Blue Jays. What a dick.

Agreed about Waldman. Hearing her on radio is better, for a few reasons.
On radio, we only have half the reasons we use to have for being disgusted. We only have to hear her horrible voice and that horrible New England accent, however we no longer have to look at her witchy-poo mug.
Also, hearing her almost makes the times when Sterling speaks a breath of fresh air.

So, a few days have passed....please tell me some of you heard Waldman's outrageously contrived howling when Clemens popped up in George's box. Its being rightfully panned all over the baseball and media world. Stunningly bad. Just seemed so FAKE to me. She was howling and screaming....forget the fact that she called it the most dramatic thing she had EVER seen in the game. Oh, my goodness gracious!" Waldman gushed in the middle of the seventh inning.
"Of all the dramatic things, of all the dramatic things I've ever seen, Roger Clemens standing right in George Steinbrenner's box announcing he is back!" Oh, and sorry to be cynical, but I find it hard to believe a heap of us knew this was coming, and she, a few feet from George's box and with all sorts of folks walking around back there all day, had no idea this was coming... Its funny...we were at the mall, returning back from buying some Communion jewelry, and just as we pulled in front of the house they came out of commercial in the 7th and she was SCREAMING. Good thing we were pulling over or she would have crashed our car. It sounded RIDICULOUS. www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/yankees/ny-spmedia0508,0,4785549.column?coll=ny-main-bigpix

You know...honestly...if she didn't have such a disgusting accent coupled with about as unfeminine a voice as humanly possible, it might not have been as bad as it was.
She has an atrocious speaking voice. At least John Sterling and Michael Kay are eloquent.

Waldman just gave a reference to "The Bleacher Creatures" putting the kibosh on the attempts to start The Wave.

Well, Sterling is in the booth for life. Apparently Waldman is there cause George loves her, which makes sense as he is apparently totally out of it these days. Its not just here in NY where the broadcast booth is ripped a new one, the baseball blogs around the country get a big laugh out of the Yankee radio crew. Waldman especially is universally shredded.

I just cannot understand how anyone actually likes Sterling. The guy cares more about himself and his catchphrases than calling the game. Hearing him described as the voice of the Yankees makes me sick.

That's EXACTLY how I feel!!! EXACTLY. I mean, you may not like the content that comes out of Sterlings mouth, but at least it doesn't sound like a dying animal.

Whos is Brandon Tierney's sidekick - is his name Jerome?
Anyway, he did a hilarious impression of John Sterling calling Reggie Jackson's third HR of the 77 World Series.

When Booker had his show on 92.3, a recurring character was "John Sterling" calling in from his booth. He would break out into Broadway song tunes, imply amourous acts with Waldman, and ramble on like a drunken loon. All in a very bombastic and haughty Sterling voice. It was worth many a guffaw.
Another zany "baseball" character that has a spot on a show is our friend "Mr Met" who calls in to the Radio Chick, has a smarmy British accent, and is an obvious racist and plain old meanie. He also happens to sound a bit like Chuck Nice doing an impersonation....

Just read on a NY radio board that, according to Yankee beat writer Peter Abraham's blog, Suzyn Waldman went nuts on Chris Russo before one of these Subway Series games this weekend, in front of the WFAN booth. Word is she was howling at him in that banshee voice for 10 minutes, and witnesses said later they swore she was "going to slap him." Apparently she was going off at the laugh Russo and Mike had at her expense, off the staged Clemens hoopla.
So much for her shrugging off all the criticism for her Clemens act, and acting professionally in front of others regarding it.

I was at Shea on Friday night, and for much of the game and postgame all one could here were Mets fans doing their Suzyn Waldman impressions.
