I beleive a preseason game will be played in PR, not exactly sure when. But figured with the season less than a month away, the new guys, and the return of the greatest goalie since number 35 and all is good on broadway, the Rangers needed a thread. Shanahan, Cullen, Ward, Hall, Jagr, Prucha, Hank, no Poti and the Rangers re signed Pock, I'll be the first, no olympics and no injuries = Rangers get out of the first round of the playoffs.

No injuries? They already lost Jed Ortmeyer most likely for the entire season due to a embolism(sp) in his lung.

[glow=red,2,300]DAMMIT!!![/glow] - I didn't know about Ortmeyer's injury....
Is Kevin Weekes still going to be the backup goalie? He's hot and cold so I'm not totally sold on him yet. I don't know what to expect from these guys this year after that season-ending meltdown.

Yeah JW, the playoff chances rest solely on Jed F'n Ortmeyer. I like him, he did good, but his replacable. Persoanlly, I have no clue why Ozolinsh is still on the team but Sykora is gone, I thought he did better overall than druggie Ozolinsh. When I say injuries I mean losing Jage a week before the playoffs or Hank for a month cause of the olympics. Yeah Jed Ortmeyer is the reason for the Rangers success.

Well so far the blueshirts are 3-0 in postseason. A solid 3-1 win against the devils and even though it was rookies in the line up, Hank had a shutout against the devils the very next day. Tonight Prucha had two goals and Al Montoya looked pretty good. The new additions are fitting in well, the core guys from last year are playing good. They look good all around really, I really can't fuckin wait for the season to start. Only 12 more days.

Tonight in preseason action the Icelanders on Long Island take on the Broadway Blueshirts, The New York Rangers. The Rangers are unbeaten in preseason, and the islanders are in shambles. It should be a great game. Petr Prucha has been red hot in preseason scoring 3 goals in 3 games. Will it continue against Dipietro?
10 days and counting until the season opener.

LOL @ "in shambles." The Islanders are 0-2 using different line combinations in each game. They looked shoddy the first game, and much better in the second after Mike Dunham put them in a 3 goal hole. Tonight will be a better test for both teams.

The Rangers A hardly had any of their veterans in but either way, a third period collapse like that will always do a team in. Thankfully it was only preseason.

Oh, I see, James...before when the Rangers came in undefeated and the Islanders were in "shambles" it was something you jumped all over, but now "it was only preseason."
What a goof you are.
I took a lot more from last nights game between rivals in the Garden than skates against the Bruins in Nova Scotia when both teams still had 50 guys on the roster to choose from for the games.
Islander hockey!

oh ok so the Rangers should worry being 3-1 and the Isles are what? 2-2 now? To be honest thw Isles are the one hockey team I do not watch. Don't want to. As long as they are below the Rangers I don't care if they bring back Billy Smith, Clarke cockcucker Gilles or Mike bossy. To me, an inexperienced GM, and investing the farm on Dipietro and basically in year two or three of rebuilding? I call that shambles. I consider the Rangers past rebuilding. The team is in good shape and they have to build on last years success, not rebuild from the ground up. Everyone made a big deal when the islanders got to the first round the two years in a row before the strike and each year they folded as soon as Peca got hurt and havn't been consistent since. And Peca is long gone too. You want to make the comparison between Peca and Jagr last year, fine, but as I watched the two teams last night, in my opinion this year as well as last year, the Rangers have a better supporting cast of players around Jarg than the Iles do, um it is Yashin now? Who you have to admit isn't the guy the Isles singed from Ottawa.
The Rangers will have a better season series record against the Isles in the regular season, mark my words.

...um it is Yashin now? Who you have to admit isn't the guy the Isles singed from Ottawa. Actually, they got exactly they guy they signed from Ottawa. Which is the problem in the first place. This guy has always been overrated, with a bad attitude to boot, and anyone who expected bigger and better things from Yashin was fooling themselves.

You know whats funny, for all the crap some of you talk about how good the Rangers look this preseason....well, its certainly not their power play.
As I type this they remain the only team to not have scored a power play marker, with an astounding 0-38 mark of futility.

The Rangers are unbeaten in preseason, and the islanders are in shambles. Ah, how the worm turns. Since that prophetic declaration, the Islanders took 2 of 2 from the Blueskirts. And dominated both games completely. See ya when it really counts.

First off the game that was televised was close until the 3rd. The rangers were only outplayed in the 3rd period. As for last night, I hardly call a 2-1 win dominating. And as for the power play, unless Jagr and Prucha are on the ice, very rarely will you see a pp goal. But like you said, we'll see when it counts. Enjoy the basement fishsticks.

Considering the Rangers were outshot and outhit 2-1, they were dominated. The Islanders also outshot and outhit the Rangers the first time around. As Chris King said last night on the radio call, "its like the ice is tilted towards the Ranger zone."
LOL!
Oh, and what are you guys, 0-42 on the power play now?

After a nice 5-2 win, the New York Rangers quest for the Cup has begun. The new capitan got it started early, the first minute of play, netting his first goal of the season. Also, Brendan shanahan socred twice reaching 600 goals in his carreer. Also King Henrik, the swedish stionewall, \stopped 25 shots and got one of the loudest ovations from the crowd when the players were introduced before the game. The next game is saturday in Philly.

I mean, holy crap. What kind of insanity was that? No excuse for what he did, that was just vicious. Whats funny about the whole thing is just minutes before, between periods, Simon had done an interview about letting the refs control the game, not falling for the antics of Avery and the other Ranger pests out there, and just taking care of business. And then poof, he's off his game, and swinging his stick at someones face.
Well, he'll deserve his suspension, and by all signs it should be a long one.
I am grumpy about the loss, but the Islanders are still in a good place and I am not really worried about it.

As much as I like to try to defend players on the teams I root for, whatever he gets, he gets. The one thing I WILL say is that it looks like he was trying to hit him in the chest, not the neck. But even so, inexcusable.

The penalty was assessed at 13:29 of the third period.

This from a Devils fan...
1) The check on Simon could be classified as borderline clean/borderline boarding in today's NHL.....
2) Simon's response was way over the line
3) He should get at least rest of season and playoffs suspension
4) The puck crossed the line and that was a goal
Thank You.....
