SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.
How long can the Yankees keep running this guy out there? How many games doe we need to sacrifice? He is NOT ready!
3.2 innings, 8 hits, 6 runs, another 2 walks, 2 Ks.
ERA is a whopping NINE.
Add this to the crap Kennedy is flinging up there, and the Yankees are basically handing over 20% of their games before they pick up a bat. Enough is enough, time for change.

Something does need to be done. For one, you need to learn better math. The Yanks are NOT handing over 20% of their games if Hughes and Kennedy stink. They are handing over 40%. Idiot.

i was talkin to my father in law right after sheffs bomb. and it looks like both kids come into the game just hoping to make it around for a few innings
they need to be sent back down and work on "their stuff" not just their pitching but their heads.
and i can easily see a trade to get a bronson arroyo or kevin millwood in the near future

Those would be good sort of guys to bring in. Again, the Yankees should have grabbed a guy like Kyle Lohse while he was just floating around, for anyone to pluck. They were very shortsighted to show all their cards, and go "all-in" with Hughes and Kennedy . For Christs sake, I would rather they put Billy Traber on the mound in place of one of those two jokers.

I can not even begin to tell you how pissed off I would be if Kennedy or Hughes were sent off for some douchebag like Bronson Arroyo!
Coming on the heels of retaining these guys in lieu of acquiring Santana or Haren??!??!?!!?! Holy fucking shit!
Don't look now, but Haren is STILL kicking ass on the D-Backs. Hopefully I am not turning into the proverbial Ted Lily mark with this Haren shit, but I really like the guy and wish to hell, now, that we'd sent Melky, Hughes, AND Kennedy away for him if that's what it took (although I still believe he could have been had for much less than Santana).

So we are going to rant and rave because a 21 year old has had a few rocky starts and is not dominating like Cy Young yet? I knew this year would be rocky and was hopeful Hughes could get 13-15 wins with the help of the Yankee O, while he gets experience. Well the Yankee O is spurtering and the growth pains are hurting more but I am still ok with everything as I said I will take a year out of the playoffs for these guys and others to develop....

Hey, idiot, who said trading THEM for Arroyo??? You need to go back to bed, you are flying off the handle.
What the Yankees need to do is demote Kennedy and Hughes (who were 0 for April) and work out a deal for an Arroyo type to fill that backend, or promote Rasner, Igawa, or Steven White as mentioned as a possibility in the paper. I think they should consider starting Traber, as a possibility as well.
But no one is implying to send them out of here to bring in journeymen arms. Holy crap, Cho, its funny you would even think that. Be logical.

Cap, you're another one who needs to wake up. Yankees are 2-9 when Hughes or Kennedy starts, the two combined have an 0-6 record for a team now 14-14, and their ERAs are both close to TEN. Hughes has he worst numbers in major league ball right now, that Matt Morris was RELEASED for doing that kind of work.
Hughes is not even averaging FOUR INNINGS A START!!!!! Forget him not winning, how long do you want these guys to keep killing the pen???
Sometimes you talk like you just started watching baseball this year.

Sorry, I just saw "trade for Bronson Arroyo" and well....you do the math....plus, it was BALLS who said it so the idea might not be that far off (to him) - hahaha.
Point is...it sucks now that this "youth movement" is backfiring so badly. Point is that Danny Haren or Johan Santana should be in this rotation now.

Yeah, because it takes great baseball knowledge to basically predict every player will stink and act like a know it all when one or two of them do.

The bottom line is, the two of them should be in AAA ball this year, not expected to win on the big stage, in the Bronx after all. Anyone who bought into the pipe dream last year when we had to bring in a 45 yo for two months to try and make the playoffs was mistaken. Lohse was available, Colon could have come in (I don't know his stats), but to expect two rookies to pick up the burden was wrong. Mussina is on the down hill and between him and therooks, the bullpen will be shot by my birthday. I said it before, and it might come true. The Rays will have a better record than the Yankees.

The real bottom line is that what we're seeing here is more of the Yankee Propaganda Machine at work....again, just like the Kremlin.
These cats are turning out to resemble much more your typical pretty good drafted pitchers than they do the prodigies they were made out to be.
That's bothersome to me - the fact that if it weren't New York and there wasn't such scrutinity...say these two were Reds prospects, they might have toiled away in the minors until their mid-20s...maybe even late 20s in Kennedy's case.

Cho, I think you are right on Kennedy, but you are a bit harsh on Hughes. Hughes is a baby, he should be in the minors, like other guys of his ilk like Homer Bailey are. He is not polished, but no one denies he has "stuff." Hughes is not just ranked high by the Yankee fanboys, he is held in high-regard throughout the scouting community.
As to Kennedy, I warned you guys all along, going by what those same scouts who glom over Hughes said about him. AT BEST he is a middle-of the rotation sort of guy, in the Jeff Suppan sort of mold. He does not have electric stuff, and constantly has to work at the mind game, trying to figure out how to beat a hitter. He cant just dish. And he does not have a high ceiling at all, which makes patience with him right now absolutely absurd.
Kennedy may fizzle and burn. He is no lock. Hughes may be....but its not now, and by keeping him up here you are not doing him - or the fans - any favors.

Whoa Whoa Whoa.....at least as it stands right now, if Kennedy even dreams of being a Jeff Suppan he better wake up and apologize. HAHAHA!

If this was just the Yankee propaganda machine, they would have pulled the trigger on Santana.

No they wouldn't have. They're saving face at this point. Same reason Kyle Farnsworth keeps getting run out there. Same reason they're playing the "patience/maturation" card instead of copping to the fact that both youngsters are ineffective at this point.

Hughes is 21. Kennedy is 22. Not everything has instant results. No one is denying they have been ineffective, but they are more than just a hype machine.

The thing is, by leaving them in the majors to get the crap kicked out of them, they are losing their market value even quicker.

It's not about market value. It's about making them into real pitchers. Obviously, they aren't there yet, but the hope is it will happen.

so is this season on the yankees dime..??
are they willing to forfeit the season and just let hughes and kennedy take their lumps this year and then hoping they become the tigers version of bonderman and verlander next year.

But Kennedy does not have Verlander or even Bonderman potential. Lets stop overselling him.
And its stupid for a team with a 200 million dollar payroll to give up on the playoffs, at the expense of keeping two kids that are clearly not ready around.

Believe me Balls, if you dont think the Yanks are hedging their bets a bit by keeping the idea of Hughes and Kennedy as trade bait in the back of their mind, then you haven't been paying attention to this team.
Problem is, both pitchers' trade value is plummeting they more they go out there and fail.

So Girardi is starting to get very pissy, this is all wearing on him. From the latest "when is Hughes going down" story on mlb.com... Girardi grew testy in a pregame meeting with reporters in the dugout, repeating several times, "Hughes is in the rotation right now." When pressed and asked if Hughes was expected to pitch on Sunday against the Mariners, Girardi said, "That's the plan. There's no one else here."
Girardi declined to say who he had spoken with regarding Hughes, saying, "These are internal discussions that are meant to stay internal, and that's basically all I can tell you."
He later added, "I don't want to get irritated, but do you want me to tell you when I'm hitting and running too? Things that are internal are internal. I don't know how to say it any other way." BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
