It wasn't Jardine. It was a guy named Heath Herring. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_Z6g4kpA6MIf you could find a youtube clip of the punches you're talking about, I'd love to see them. I can't see someone throwing a more devastating punch than that simply because of Brock's size and strength. Not that there can't be a KO by a lighter weight, or a similar connection, but what got me was that it was a shot from a monster.

You're right, sorry I always mix up those two ugly fucks.
To me it still wasn't the greatest punch in history, the guy didn't get knocked out, so he got flush, but not hard enough to knock him out. Chuck got knocked out, the shot Evans caught Liddell with spun his goddamn neck around. He was sleeping before his ass hit the ground. Brock can knock someone out with ease, no doubt about it, I'm personally not gonna jizz myself for a punch that didn't even knock the guy out. There's been better punches thrown that have done the job right away.
Something about it though makes me think he's strong, and he can knock people out, but not the way other guys can. I've seen him connect huge shots, like the one you're obsessing with and it didn't end the fight. I don't want to say he doesn't have knock out power, but I've never seen someone out cold from him. The shot with Couture, temple shot, wasn't the best punch ever, but did the job. He's big and strong and can hit hard but I don't think he can knock someone out cold. Not like Rashaad Evans can. He has knockout power, BJ might be getting knocked out by him soon. Brock is more of a mauler, these guys are finesse and pick their spots, and makes it count.
And I'd look for videos, but I'm computer stupid and don't know how to post them on the board, so when you're home alone sitting by the computer look up Fedor, you'll see some kicks that put Brock's right hand to shame.

Fedor has officially challeneged him, the company he works for wants to do a co-promoted event since there were talks of Fedor vs Couture. Dana has no reason to co-promote, but this might make Lesnar crack, he's scared of Fedor, he yelled at reporters for bringing him up during press confrences for his fight with Randy.
Balls look up Fedor Emelianenko so you can see why even Brock is scared.

It's amazing the chins these guys have. For him to NOT get knocked out is unbelievable--almost miraculous, though I guess the fact that he wasn't moving TOWARD the punch, and Lesnar was slightly more extended when it was thrown helped. But I wonder what the force was behind that shot. I think that's actually a testament to Herring's chin.
Maybe you're right though. Maybe there's some sort of technique involved that could get more force behind a punch beyond pure strength. Something that maybe adds speed to the arm which makes a punch even harder.
I would think you're smart enough to find Fedor videos. Even if you can't cut and paste a link, you could always pick a specific opponent.
I was actually a bit surprised Lesnar beat Couture, since I thought the inexperience would come into play. Could be just a good matchup, or it could be Couture's age actually mattered. Either way, you have to take Lesnar seriously as a fighter, and give him the benefit of the doubt now.
If Fedor is as good as you say, and I'll bet he is, he should roll over Lesnar. I still can't believe a guy with so few fights can be the best in the world that fast. I don't know if that would say that he's that good, or that the division is that bad.

There really wasn't one fight I was uber impressed with, he's just a solid fighter. He fights black samba style, so he can punch and kick the shit out of someone, but still tap him out. There was one fight I saw during a clip video, just a collection of his fights, he was on the bottom getting hit, the guy had Fedor's back and somehow rolled through and caught him in a heel hook. I guess the one fight I'd suggest is Fedor and Noiguera, but really just pick any video and watch the guy in action, you've never seen him before so watch the highlights and then pick what fights you want to see.
The experience was the only thing Couture had in his favor, otherwise if he was going to win that fight, he was going ti have to carry a 270 pound man all over the octagon.
I think you're right about the Herring shot, he was backing up and Brock was fully extended when it connected, I think had Herring been closer or not able to back up in time, he would have been knocked out, him going backwards plus the punch, his momentum rolled him over to his knees, he would have been lights out if he were flat footed.
Fedor will kill Brock, he only has one loss and it came due to a cut on his eye and it never should have been stopped. He's a fucking beast, and if this fight goes through, it's going to be nuts.
And Brock has the belt, but he's not the best in the world, Fedor would kill him, Anderson Silva is a better all around fighter. The division is hurting, Light Heavyweight is more stacked, and I made another mistake, Evans is fighting Forrest next I think which will be a sick fight, so that weight class is stacked, but now with Brock as champ, it's tough to say who would beat him, but there's so many great matchups, Mir, Noiguera, Gonzaga, and they've been trying to do Fedor and Couture for a year, now they want both Brock and Randy so it's up in the air, especially if Couture sticks around. There's some good fights he could have. But I think Lesnar getting the shot has more to do with PR than it does the actual division being good or bad. Dana really wanted that belt off Couture is my gut reaction and got it, now it's finding where the next big pay day is with Brock as champ. He's using Brock to get as much attention on UFC as possible, doesn't hurt some company overseas is already challenging your champ.

Don't a lot of people say that Anderson Silva is the best all around fighter in the world? Pound for pound, that's cool, but I wonder how a guy like Silva would do in a fight where weight class didn't matter (like when UFC first started).
Wow. Evans v. Griffin.
I definitely have to check out some Fedor highlights.
I have no doubt Lesnar was pushed because of his prior fame, but it's an impressive win, and I look forward to seeing who's next for him.

Yeah Anderson Silva is recognized as the best pound for pound fighter in the world, the man is wrecking machine. If they fought under original UFC rules, Fedor wins the same reason Brock won, you can't carry around a guy twice your size for 5 minutes. I think once Fedor takes him to the ground, even though Silva has a fantastic ground game, the size difference, the sheer mass creates too big of a problem.
Yeah Evans and Forrest will be sick, but also UFC 94 will be GSP vs BJ Penn with Kenny Florian waiting in the wings but the winner should get the winner of Evans and Forrest. And I'm pretty sure Rampage has a big fight in the next month or so against a big name but I forget. Then at the next event in London, Chuck is still fighting, this time he's facing Anderson Silva. I think Chuck is done, so I can't see The Spider losing. Light Heavyweight is stacked it's fucking crazy.
Couture has said he thinks Fedor would tear up Brock at this point. I said that way before he said it, that's why it was smart to get the belt on Brock, the buzz around all his fights from now on.

I don't know. Royce Gracie, in the early days, kicked the shit out of people bigger than he was. Maybe the talent level wasn't what it is today, but we'll never know. I think in any fighting sport, a good big man will beat a good smaller man. Like you said, sheer size.
Part of that was why I hate the Big Show/Mayweather match at WM. There is no way I could accept Mayweather beating the Big Show in any physical contest other than a foot race.
I don't know why, but I'm not a fan of Kenny Florian. Not a fan of Matt Hamill either.
I checked out the UFC site and Rampage does have a fight coming up. You're probably right about Liddell--it would shock the world if he beats Silva.
Fedor v. Brock would be a massive buy rate. Lesnar alone was a draw for the WWE crowd, but tack on the title, plus a champ from another organization, and wow.

Did the website say who Rampage was fighting? Cause from what I remember from that night it was a big name, from what I remember I think Rampage wins, just a way of Dana helping him out since he went crazy. Take a big fight, pay some bills. It seemed like a good fight on paper but one I think Rampage wins.
I think Brock will get a big draw fighting Mir again. Like you said, put the strap on him and people wanna see. Cause now, it's like when Tyson got the belt, who on earth is going to be the guy to beat him. And even with his record, if you're wondering who can beat someone with the belt, it's a scary individual. It also shows how fast he's improving, I mentioned that giving my take on the fight, Brock wasn't all nerves, he went in patient and with a plan. He came out champ. And not to brag but I called every fight that night and how the person would win. How do I start training people? lol.

Yeah that's a good fucking fight, but I'm not a huge fan Wanderlei. That weight class is tremendous, so many potential great fights. Heavyweight is much thinner, it's why Gonzaga might be getting a title shot mid 2009.

Like I said, it seems UFC differs from other sports involving fighting in that the lower divisions seem to get most of the hype.

I guess it's just due to style, it's a totally different training system between heavyweight and light heavyweight. For guys who move up or down the two weight classes, the weight they have to gain or lose changes their training style and it has an effect on the style of fight they fight. You see way better mat control and submissions from the lower divisions. In my opinion the majority of fights that drag or are boring are the fights with two heavyweights just standing there trading. Don't get me wrong, I love guys who can trade shots and I LOVE seeing guys get knocked the fuck out, but not when it resembles boxing so much.
But now with Brock with the title it adds a lot of intrigue to the division. And if the NY State Athletic Committee allow MMA fights in this state, it'll be huge. First card at the Garden will be like Ali vs Frazier.

That actually makes some sense. One of the biggest problems with boxing is that people see it as boring. I don't even remember the last YEAR I actually watched a fight. Probably when Holyfeld was champ and actually still good.
MMA fights CAN be boring, but nowhere near as often, and unlike with boxing, UFC is smart enough to showcase themselves on free TV by rerunning PPV level fights and always having a well known fighter on any broadcast. Just last night, they showcased a Tito Ortiz fight. Eventually, all the big fights make their way to free TV, even if it's a few months later. I think that's actually good for the sport and something boxing never does.
I wonder if they would go all out and have the biggest card ever at the Garden, like a UFC version of Wrestlemania, where every fight is a main event.

I think the first event held in MSG would be a triple main event, three huge matches, the last being a title fight between two top guys who never fought each other. It'd be like Ali vs Frazier I, celebrities all around, Sinatra comes back to life just to take pictures, gangsters first row, just a big red carpet event.

I watched The Ultimate Fighter this week. I've talked about this before, but it seems that there are fighters that appear on that show that somehow bear a resemblance to POS Dan. Best example of that is a fighter named Matt Hamill. I don't like that guy. He annoys me. No offense to Dan, but I don't like Matt Hamill, and always root against him.
This season also has a Dan lookalike, though the resemblance isn't nearly as strong as Matt Hamill.
However, there's another fighter that also looks like someone we all know. He's the loose cannon this season--the moron who seems to want to fight everyone even outside the octagon.
He looks like Navy Tommy.

Didn't feel like reading tons of posts, but with regards to Nog/Mir's fight, Randy, as standing champ, was holding out and an interim Champion was made. Randy comes back, so the interim fight between Nog and Mir was made into a #1 contender bout.
And while I rate guys like Silva and GSP higher, Fedor is still one of the best fighters out there. I think he would beat Brock.

I agree, I think Fedor is better than GSP, who I love as a fighter. I would rank it Silva, Fedor and then GSP, but I can't argue putting him before Fedor. I'd be shocked if BJ Penn beats GSP.
It sucks Fedor is in a different weight class, I'd fucking sell organs to see Fedor fight GSP or Anderson Silva.

I would think the good heavyweight would win the fight. It would be nice if Fedor makes it to the UFC while he still is the badass you guys are making him out to be.

That's why I put Fedor above GSP, cause to me Silva has a better chance of beating Fedor than GSP, but all three are so fucking great it's hard to say. I can't say Fedor would have his way because both guys have awesome ground games, and I think Silva is a better striker than Fedor, Fedor just has more power. I also can't bet against Fedor till someone beats him, and not by having the fight stopped due to a cut, someone actually has to beat him, not by some fluke finish.

Lashley had his MMA debut last night - thanks to www.f4wonline.com for this. Bobby Lashley stopped Joshua Franklin in 41 seconds with a takedown, and then opening up his forehead with punches and it was stopped on a cut. It was both men's pro MMA debut tonight at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.

If he has talent, I'm sure Dana White will sign him. Imagine how a Lesnar/Lashley match would go. The billing would be great, especially if Lashley is really good.

Dana was asked in an interview if he'd sign Lashley and he said he never heard of him. So he needs some more good fights and wins before he gets taken seriously by UFC.

No doubt. But I highly doubt that Lashley will be off the radar for long. Too big of a name. Let's see if the talent backs it up.

Not big enough for the biggest company in MMA. He's known only because of his WWE days to fans, Dana White never heard of the guy, what does that tell you? He's had one fight in MMA, let's have him fight some more, he went 48 seconds in his first fight, you can't know much other than he has knockout power. We know he has mat skills and wrestlers make the transition easily to MMA, but as of a few weeks before the Brock/Couture fight, Dana never even heard of Lashley, and I doubt he does after one fight. And let's say he does, Dana isn't going crazy over putting Brock in there with a guy with a barely existent track record. There's no way he's a big name to anyone in the MMA world, other than the fact you saw him on WWE would you know who the fuck he is? Exactly.

Of COURSE he's only known because of his MMA days. Brock only had one fight before he hit the UFC too. And by his 4th fight, he won the title.
Lashley, in theory, could match Brock's strength and power. So the real question is, what about his skill at actual MMA. White's smart enough to do a quick research on Lashley. If he has the talent to make the UFC, he'll be signed pretty fast.

Well, looks like yesterday was a HELL of a UFC card. Griffin loses to Evans. Noguera loses to Mir. Mir likely going to rematch with Lesnar.
Good stuff.

Great stuff, Silva might be done, Rampage shut him off. Probably a non title rematch between Forrest and Rampage the winner gets Evans. But Mir looked awesome, he dominated Nogueria. Even though Brock is way better now than he was the first time, if Brock faces the Mir from last night he has no chance. Mir looks unstoppable, I can't wait for the rematch. More ppvs buys than Lesnar/Couture, I promise.

Mir's win last night ups his stock a lot. It's going to be a great rematch. It seems to me that there are like 10 good fighters named Silva or Silvia. I get them all confused.

It does more than that, the guys a former champ with a great ground game, and he stopped someone who had never been stopped. He kicked his fucking ass. It does more than up his stock and make him next in line, the performance he put on makes him the favorite. If he beat Brock last time, and granted Brock is way better than he was in the Mir loss, but Mir is a million times better since then. By leaps and bounds. If the fight was next week, next month, I put money on Mir, and if he keeps in the same shape between now and whenever the fight happens, he'll destroy Lesnar.
It was a great fucking card, not one bad fight. And only a few fights went past the first. This is by far the best fighting sport in the world, amazing action last night. I didn't want turn to the left to go into the fridge to get a beer because I knew I could miss something in half a second. And the January 31st ppv, Penn vs GSP 2 is going to be sick. And now we're looking at a possible Rampage vs Forrest 2, winner gts Evans, and now Mir vs Lesnar, the cards are somehow going to be getting better than last night's. Def worth a replay in my opinion.
