The TV was on mute in my father-in-law's hospital room...so I'll ask...why did I see a gray-haired Ricky Steamboat arguing with Chris Jericho the other night?

Steamboat is going into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. He also works backstage for the fed, so he had an in. But he is considered a true legend in the game. Does not hurt that his son is a hot prospect currently getting experience in Japan, and the WWE wants him in coming down the line.
Jericho is doing a gimmick where, stemming off the flick The Wrestler, he is disparaging the old vets of the game, who keep hanging around. Last week Piper was on the show, before that Flair. It goes on and on.

I would like to see Piper break a coconut over Jericho's head.
Roddy Piper was cool as fuck...in the ring....not on the big screen, with his stupid sunglasses.

Courtesy The Slammer: HDNet ropes Ring of Honor Friday, March 6th 2009, 2:20 AM Our snow-covered alarm (we sleep with the windows opened) is set as Daylight Saving Time approaches this weekend so we won't be late for Sunday morning's pan flute lessons. And speaking of approaching times, circle March 21 (Saturday, 8 p.m. & 11 p.m.) for the debut of Ring of Honor (ROH) on cable channel HDNet. ROH originated in Philadelphia in 2002 and has been gaining popularity here and in Japan. The biggest boost was the participation in the surprise hit "The Wrestler," which featured roster guys such as the ROH champ Nigel McGuinness and the Necro Butcher (who shows Rourke's character "Ram" Robinson the dangers of a staple gun). ROH has also signed Ric Flair as a "roving ambassador." More approaching dates: WWE has picked the date and site for next year's 'Mania. It's March 28 in Glendale, Ariz. And you don't have to worry about the kiddies seeing the Boogeyman. He has been released by the WWE. Add Jimmy Snuka to Flair and Roddy Piper as the latest legend insulted by Chris Jericho on "Raw." Rumors are swirling that on Monday the next insult may be directed at either Jerry (The King) Lawler or Hulk Hogan! A sad note as Paul Heyman's mom, Sulamita, 81, a Holocaust survivor, died Sunday. LIVE! Saturday, 8 p.m., WOW will appear at the VFW Hall in South River, N.J. For info: www.warriorsofwrestling.com. Tickets now on sale for WWE's visit to Madison Square Garden on April 28.

Cablevision in NJ had it when there were like 10 HD channels and they had no HD channels but now that everything is going HD and they seem to be adding channels weekly I don't think it is there anymore...Don't quote me but I think Mark Cuban may have some ownership in this.

My wife DVRs this show called Confessions Of A Teen Idol - a reality show featuring former alleged "teen idols" living together and trying to figure out ways to nose their way back into the limelight (Hobie from Baywatch, the dude from Blue Lagoon, some dude from Fame, Adrian Zmed, Eric Niess, and others...).
Anyway, while this was on last night, I noticed in the opening credits that the producer was one Eric Bischoff.

Bischoff does a lot of that stupid stuff. He is involved in those "who wants to marry a cowboy" type of fare as well. His cohort in a lot of these projects is that doof Jason Hervey.

Thanks to www.pwtorch.com for this... ESPN's news-magazine show, E:60, will air a behind-the-scenes documentary on WWE and Vince McMahon on Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m. EST.
The mini-documentary will focus on WWE's marketing and creative effort leading to last weekend's WrestleMania 25 with behind-the-scenes footage of Vince McMahon leading his staff.
ESPN reporter Jeremy Schaap will have a sit-down interview with McMahon, who will talk about being abused as a child, growing up with Vince McMahon, Sr., and the Chris Benoit tragedy's effect on wrestling.

A 9 year old kid jumped off his roof while trying to be like Jeff hardy and died. I don't think WWE is to blame, but I do want to hear the PR spin they put on it.

Yeah, he was playing his Smackdown vs Raw 2009 with a friend, and the story said he was wearing some kind of parachute. I don't know where a kid finds one of the those, but the story also noted the mother left the two kids alone while she went to the store, and when he went to the roof of his apartment complex, the door wasn't locked and the alarm for said door was broken.
So dumb kid, even stupider mother. But also, just some bad luck, if the door is locked or the alarm goes off, who knows. I always blame the parents because they should teach the kid, you can't fly, you can't do these moves off a roof and live. You have to get trained to do it and you can't be reckless. I don't care if you want to be Jeff Hardy or Superman, you're kid should know not to jump off the roof unless the fucking building is on fire. It's sad, but guess what, one less stupid person in the world now. Too bad it isn't the mother because she's dumber than her dead kid.

WWE gets no blame for this.
And since when does Jeff Hardy use a parachute? The fact this kid realized he needed a parachute to attempt the move shows that he was not necessarily imitating Jeff Hardy. Cause Hardy lands it without a parachute. Also, the kid was alone, the door was open, the alarm was off - like James said.
WWE = without blame.

Ere Watts, the owner of the Mid South/UWF tape libary has once again refused to sell it to the WWE. It still remains as the last great tape libary that the WWE doesn't own.

What a grind. I had been reading recently where WWE was close to landing that deal. I own a good deal of that stuff on trader dvds, the stuff I really wanted from there (Dibiase, Freebirds, some mixes) but how cool would it be to see episodes run on WWE Classics?

Out of the Torch newsletter....
WWE star Triple H will not be playing the part of "Thor" in the upcoming comic book-based movie from Marvel.
After several months of speculation that Hunter was being considered for the role, Marvel finally settled on Chris Hemsworth, who played a small role in the recent Star Trek movie.

Corny - thanks to www.f4wonline.com for this. Wrestler seriously injured in light tube accident Nick Gage suffered a serious injury, reported as severing a main artery when taking a bump on a light tube that resulted in him being sliced on his side from armpit to hip. He was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital where he was rushed into the operating room.
Gage never passed out, but was losing a sick amount of blood which didn't let up, in Combat Zone Wrestling's annual Tournament of Death, held in a makeshift setting in the backyard of wrestler D.J. Hyde's parents house in Delaware. The injury took place in the tournament finals, a light tube death match against Thumbtack Jack.
When Gage was injured, he ran to the back in a panic. Nobody knew what to do, and the wrestlers got into the ring and had an impromptu Battle Royal. Zandig threw out a few people, and even though there were plenty of wrestlers left, it was stopped and ruled Zandig as the winner of the tournament that he wasn't in to begin with.
The crowd of about 250 fans were not allowed to leave the area until an hour after the show, because there was only one way out and they didn't want to block if the ambulance was needed to get him out.

Thank you www.pwtorch.com for this - Former WWE tag team wrestler B. Brian Blair was arrested in Tampa, Florida early this morning after he allegedly assaulted two of his teenage sons under the age of 18. Blair was charged with two felony counts of child abuse.
Blair allegedly shoved his older son, age 17, in the chest around 4:00 a.m. before grabbing his younger son by the throat. Blair threw one punch that left a red mark on his older son. Blair was then arrested around 5:00 a.m. after his sons identified him as the offender.
Blair was held without bail on Sunday. He is scheduled for a court appearance on Monday to determine his punishment.
