Here's the lastest making the rounds. Considering ECW has a roster of 7, this is not really much.
Partnership forming?
October 16, 2007
WWE.com has learned that several meetings have taken place between Acting SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero and ECW General Manager Armando Estrada that, if ratified, would allow SmackDown and ECW Superstars to compete on Tuesday and Friday nights.
While nothing is signed as of yet, locker room sources say that this open door agreement between Vickie and Estrada will be discussed tonight, live on ECW on Sci Fi. No further details have been released, and when pressed for more information, Estrada was tight-lipped (a rarity in its own right).
“I have no news for you right now,” said Estrada. “But tonight on ECW on Sci Fi (10/9 CT), I will give some insight into these meetings.”

Slowly working our way back to one brand? ? I doubt it but who knows what "creative" has in their minds...

That has nothing to do with it. ECW and Smackdown tour together, and WWE is angling for an extension to the Tuesday night contract on Sci-Fi. They realize the roster of ECW is small, and lacks stars. This has been rumored for weeks. Raw and Smackdown will remain seperate entities, but ECW will probably fall under the Smackdown umbrella.

Oh Tom I agree as ECW and Smackdown travel together.....I personally wish they would go back to the days of one brand as they really don't capitalize fully I believe on the rivalry aspect of the brands...They seem to only do it selectively and most times without rhyme or reason....
It is one of the reasons I only buy the big PPVs as those are really the only ones where it is all hands on deck so to speak though itseems like they are including a match here and there lately from the other brand on the monthly PPV.

Trust me, you dont want one brand. With 3 shows you would be seeing HHH 3 nights a week, wrestling in the main event of every show. Things would get worse, not better. A guy like MVP would never have risen in a one-brand schmazz.
But PLEASE, lets not talk about rebranding. Its wasting time. While this ECW/Smackdown merge has been on the table, Linda insisted to shareholders there is NO plan at all to unify the brands. Each is driven to stand on its own, with seperate crews, touring schedules, and employees.

Good point about the HHH angle.........

So the question is do they keep the ECW belt or unify it under the world title? What would be cool, in my mind at least, would be if they do the merge, but storyline wise make it seem like another invasion thing, this way there can be some decent to good tag matches, maybe some new guys challenging for the US title and CM Punk would be a real main event guy on smackdown instead of a whipping boy champ like Mysterio was.
Looks like Big Daddy V's push is all but over unless they team him up with Khali which would be a train wreck.

First off, you're making this a bigger deal than it is. All it is is a way to get more talent on Tuesday nights for ECW television, as WWE tries to extend their contract. It is NOT going to be an invasion, as Estrada and Vicki are OPENLY WORKING TOGETHER TOWARDS A TALENT EXCHANGE in the storyline.
There wont be any unification matches, or anything like that. And why is Big Daddy V's push "all but over?" Where are you getting that idea from?
PS - Ok, back to say the Smackdown/ECW spoilers are out there - lets just say if anything Big Daddy V is now a big part....of both shows!

Safe to say he is just "a big part"..period...

All my point was if they did an invasion thing, it could be cool but not that they should, and I never said it was happening. If it did happen, Big Daddy V would be facing Kane doing the big man matchup Vince loves, they teased it tonight so it's going to happen. After that, he'll face Rey, and then be nowhere. Sorry, no way does he win the vote at Cyber Sunday, and if he isn't chasing the ECW title he's going back to meaningless squashes. And if they have smackdown to go into, he won't be facing CM Punk all that much, they can do other matchups besides one that's a complete disaster.

This is a stupid idea. Why not just take a wrestler or two over to ECW and keep them separate?

Next weeks ECW main event has already been announced - Big Daddy V vs. Kane.
I dont like this either. I was one of those who had been sticking with ECW, and even enjoying it. I watch Smackdown too, but I am not interested in all this becoming one show.

I mean, if they wanted to go this route, why didn't they just leave Bobby Lashley on the show?

Actually, we may not like it, but it DOES make sense....you watch, the ratings for ECW will go up. And WWE will get the extension on the contract for Tuesdays at 10 they are looking for. Thats why they are doing this.

I'm sure, I just wish it could have been done differently.

Then what, the ECW roster goes up to 12 from 7? Sure, money wise, behind the scenes it makes perfect sense, but after a while it will get confusing, smackdown guys will go for the ECW strap and ECW guys will go for the world. On tv this will turn into a clusterfuck of sillyness. Watch.

Wow, I'm pleasantly surprised. As recently as yesterday there were stories on the newswires teasing "possible last airdate of ECW on Sci-FI, which was like, next month. Well, good for the WWE, whatever they pass of as ECW, and another hour of wrestling on TV a week.

I have to say I have been getting a kick out of Jamie Noble and what they have been doing with Vikki the last few weeks.....He is an underrated hand who can both wrestle and is good on the stick....

He has actually parlayed that into a job backstage, he is working both as an active grappler and an agent. I have long been a Noble fan. I agree, underrated hand who can work the stick. Remember his classic bits with Nidia?

Well, early returns are showing this very well may be accomplishing what they wanted it to do. This weeks ECW rating bumped to a 1.6, up from a 1.3 just a week before, and pretty much ahead of the 1.1s and such they had been doing. Bottom line the Khali's and Kane's are a better draw than the Punks and Morrisons who have been closing the Tuesday offering.

I have to say, I am marking huge for the tag tandem of John Morrison and The Miz. I am buyin' what they are selling. It just works.

Interesting Smackdown last night. Good to see Edge back. But wow Vicki Guererro is horrible. Talk about milking a career on the back of your dead husband. It's awful.
Fortunately Edge is as good as she is bad.

I'm not too happy with the Vicki/Edge thing as well. Not cause Vicki is involved in anyway, just cause it doesn't make sense. I hope Edge just uses her to get the title back and dumps her. That said, the shining light of smackdown is back, and that's good enough.
Also, good for Jamie Noble to get a win on Palumbo. Take a guess how I feel about Motorcycle Chuck? A) I'm glad Noble got the win on a bigger guy, and B), I'm glad he's trying to win over Michelle McCool. Noble is awesome on the mic and does his charatcer well, any TV time with Noble is good TV time. Hopefully this will lead to better stuff with Noble, I was upset they didn't give him and Punk more time to wrestle, you saw a glimpse of what they could do and if anyone has ever seen their ROH matches knows what I mean. More Noble is more gooder.

From a story point of view, Edge, the heel, using Vicki, the homely widow, makes perfect sense. But she is so bad and the fact that she is on TV at all is really out of place. I hope Edge gets the belt back soon since I agree, he is the best thing on Smackdown.
I also agree with you on Noble. I think Noble is a very underrated talent. He always entertains when he's on the air. I wonder how far he can go. I would think eventually, it could conceivably turn into a heel role for McCool. Noble was awesome with Nidia back in the day.

Noble is great. Always a good talent.
Shelton on ECW is fantastic. You could honestly make the argument that he is one of the most athletic wrestlers in the WWE. If his mic skills were a bit better, he'd be a top flight guy.

There's no question Benjamin is one of the most talented wrestlers. I really enjoyed that push he had a few years back with HHH.
