Ohh you'd be talking about his .750 stolen base percentage, his .285 average, his average of 60 RBIs as a full-time leadoff hitter, the fact that he has decent fielding percentages at six positions......ohhh yeah, you're right...thanks for the stats lesson Professor!

1) Jim Edmonds. Fucking loud mouthed asshole that did nothing but talk shit about the club and how he was being treated poorly every fucking day. Every day, the LA Times had some article about him talking about the management, the coaches, his team mates, the clubhouse attendant, the elevator operator for the club, etc... Enough already!!! Talk about a cancer, this guy was an entire oncology ward.
2) I don't give a shit at all about those alleged stats, Cho. I've watched this guy boot balls and throw balls away for three seasons. Yippeee, he can play mediocre-ly at many positions, and is fast. Whoop-dee-fucking doo. He allows opposing teams to score as many or more runs in critical situations than he himself scores or causes to be scored in similar critical situations. The Angels had a horrible defense last season and one of the main reasons was that little fucker.
Yes, Percival didn't sniff the mound in 2004, but the reason he didn't was because Figgins had so many errors at third, and allowed Boston to score so much, there was no reason to bring in your closer.
I have literally watched 90% of Figgins career as an Angel. He is an over-hyped piece of shit.
My step dad has a Figgins jersey, and though he doesn't know it, I spit on it.

Jackass...you would agree (wouldn't you?) that Percival should have been on the mound for the walk-off homer at-bat?!?!?!

I never realized Edmonds was that bad. I wasn't ripping your opinion -- we just didn't get to read a lot of that stuff. The Yankees are enough of a circus themselves.

I remember when Edmonds was dispatched to St. Louie I went to a game right after, sat in right field, and there were gaggles of women mourning the loss of Edmonds with really cheesy signs like "Jim, You'll Always Be Our Angel" or some such crap.

Actually Cho, I'm really split on that. There was no lefthanders in the bullpen and Scioscia wanted to play the percentages with Ortiz and that's why he put Washburn in. Don't foget that Vladdy tied the game with his salami, it wasn't a close or save situation.
I'm not going to kill Scioscia for that decision, so no Cho, I wouldn't agree with your hypothesis. It could be right, but then again, it could be wrong. Percival gets Ortiz out and then what do you have left in the pen? Naaa. Scioscia saw that fat tub of shit Lasorda use Hirschiser like that in '88, and thought he could do the same with Wash. He gambled and it didn't work out.
BTW 9, I didn't take it as you ripping my opinion. Sorry if I gave off that vibe. It's just that I got to be so sick of Edmonds that he still elicits that response in me. I'm glad he went to St. Louis, and we got the X factor and President Kennedy, both of whom contributed to the WS Championship in '02. In fact, I really believe that the team will miss Kennedy. He was a very under rated second baseman and really a second lead off hitter for the Angels. I'll miss him, but I think the upside of Howie Kendricks is bigger.

Adam Kennedy is one of my favorite players in the game. Any team he is on is better for it.

Other than sandal wearing faggots, who gives a shit about the highest paid second place finishing line up in history? After all, everybody is shitting all over the Boston Red Sox thread to talk about another team.
Way to choke on a cock in your own house, with the division championship on the line, against the same team, for the past two seasons.
Win a division some decade, Pussys.

To change topic for a minute, the annual Patriots Day contest in Boston may be moved up to 10:05AM. I enjoyed listening to a tilt vs the Yankees at my desk at work as I sipped a morning tea recently, but this years foes would be those same Gay'ngles (how ironic is that, considering how this is breaking down) - it would be a 7AM local start for them.
LOL!

Thank you Cho. I guess that even makes my point a little better.
I saw that when the schedules came out, Tom. I thought the same thing about the 7:00 am start in LA.
Seeing how the Chowds are a third place team, tickets are probably going to be easy to get again like they were for the final third of last season.

From ESPN.com:
Free-agent pitcher Joel Pineiro is closing in on a one-year deal with the Boston Red Sox, two baseball sources told ESPN.com. The deal is believed to be worth a guaranteed $4 million plus incentives, and is conditional on Pineiro passing a physical exam.
Pineiro, 28, is 58-55 in six seasons with Seattle, but struggled badly in 2006, going 8-13 with a 6.36 ERA.
He became a free agent in December when the Mariners declined to offer him a contract rather than allow him to go to salary arbitration. Pineiro made $6.8 million last year in Seattle.
Pineiro will apparently pitch in a relief role for the Red Sox, who have six potential starters in Curt Schilling, Josh Beckett, Tim Wakefield, Jonathan Papelbon, Daisuke Matsuzaka and Jon Lester.

In a relief role, and for that marginal money, its a no-lose pickup.

$4 million plus incentives, for a lousy pitcher in middle relief. Dumb! He's no Farnsworth!

Piniero is actually a better investment than Farnsworth. He can start, and has won as many as 16 games in a season. And he's not even 30 years old.

I was about to say that I thought $4M was too high, but in this year's market, maybe not so much.

Its not too high, this years market be damned. The guy has put up decent numbers starting for a horrible team, has good stuff and is still young. He can be a Hell of a sleeper. Dont forget the Yankees gave Jaret Wright TWICE as much money per year. Piniero is NOT simply half of Jaret Wright.
And for any fans of the team with the highest average salary in baseball to giggle about someone overpaying somebody......I mean, come on, give me a fucking break already.

No he didn't put up decent numbers. He stunk.
He was so bad, he wasn't even offered arbitration by Seattle. The Yanks have very few people that they overpay. Every one has been signed at or near market value. You can keep whining about it, but it's still true.
Wright stinks. But he's better than Piniero, and he's better than Meche.

Jesus Chris, I was watching Yankees Hot Stove tonight....they were going over Boston's bullpen...what a NIGHTMARE. What a mess!!!! They're back to closer by committee - I guess the phenomenal success they had with it previously encouraged them to try it again.
Their starting rotation looks REALLY good if Schilling is healthy....they're gonna need with that bullpen.

Yeah, their bullpen is a disaster. I still think the kid from St. John's, Hansen, will end up being the closer.

I dont think its as much a problem as you think. I see a lot of wishful thinking on here.
Hansen may very well end up the closer.

Tom, the fact that, despite all of the open criticism coming from Jerry Remy and other Boston TV journalists painting Timlin as have gotten old instantly and being virtually ineffective, they felt the need to retain him speaks volumes about the shape of their bullpen.

Teams have won before with piecemeal bullpens. Timlin is not the only guy out there. Aside from Mariano the Yankees have been known for some "stellar" bullpens themselves the last few years. Sounds like "misery loves company" to me. The Sox have done some things, from foreign signings to rule 5 draft pickups that could work to their advantage. And as impressive a cabal of young arms the Yankees have been building recently, the Red Sox have a crew that may be just as impressive.

I don't think I ever said the Red Sox can't win. I simply said they have a nightmare of a bullpen and it's a good thing their starting rotation is so good (on paper).

I disagree.
Lets revisit this on the night before the season starts, there are a lot of jobs that still need to be defined, and you can not predict who exactly is going to make up that bullpen spot by spot.

Trot Nixon signs with Injuns. It pisses me off that there are so few Sox fans with a fucking clue. This guy was a warrior for us for a decade. A real man - not a fucking pussy like JD Drew, Matt CLement, etc etc. They should have just stuck with you & not jerked off all over Boras & Drew. I hope you put up monster #'s in Clev. So long Trot. REAL Sox fans will never forget.
