And not the best opening two episodes either.

I agree with that. You can't do what they did last year every single year. From what I heard, it gets going at the end of tonight's episodes.
It was still very good though, and kill #136 was damn cool. I look forward to kill 137.

Ok, 2nd part of the season premier was good. Let's hope it doesn't get stale.

Last night's episode certainly conformed to the rumor I had heard. Slow start, but really kicks it up at the end of hour 4. Very good start, even though not as quick as last year.
But there are two things that piss me off. First, Wayne Palmer is NOT a character that is believable as President. He doesn't come off as presidential in any way. I can't believe that the American people could ever elect him, even with the feeling sorry for his brother thing. David Palmer was definitely presidential. Great casting there.
Not only is Wayne Palmer not convincing as President (and he was great in the show up until now), his policies AS president come off very weak. I feel like I'm watching someone barely better than Itzin, except that they are not TRYING to make him out incompetent.
What President would ACTUALLY release terrorists like that? It was such a foolish move and look what happened as a result. Nice one Wayne.
About the only thing Wayne Palmer has done correctly is say, "fuck this, let Jack Bauer handle it."
The second thing I didn't like was how Curtis bought the farm. It came out of nowhere and was pointless. It's one thing to kill a main character for a reason, it's another to kill him just so people could have water cooler talk.
I could see Curtis getting killed, but that was NOT a good way to do it. There is just no way I find it believable that Curtis would snap like that. And even if he did want to kill Habib Bashir Durka Durka, the way he chose to go about it was insane. First, why would a guy like Curtis even hesitate for Jack to kill him? Pull the trigger and be done with it. Second, why put his own life in danger when he knew Jack would kill him? It made no sense and added nothing to the plot other than to bring Jack to his breaking point.
It didn't work for me. But that said, we add another kill to the tally. Jack is off pace so far, but it's very early.

I dont watch this show, so really, I dont care too much for it. But I had to come in here for this. Got to love how some Fox exec pretty much admitted FOX is trying to scare the public with this current nuke plotline. They feel its their duty of sorts to "wake up the American public." Um, hey dickhead, we know what the terrorists can do. We dont need your lame attempt to "school us."
For what its worth, the "water cooler talk" here in my office is pretty negative this morning, which I found amusing, and I dont think its what the FOX folks were looking for this morning. (negative in that they dont like these first episodes, and not really cause anyone is offended by a lame attempt to shock)

It took until the fourth episode for the show to get going. But it's going. The quality is still there.

I think Wayne Palmer as President is silly. How is it he was involved in a scandal that forced hid brother to resign as President, but he was able to successfully win a term with that same scandal looming?
Well, I assume that will be answered soon enough, because it will be part of the annoying filler. Some dick is going to side with Fayed and demand Palmer do something for them, or else he will reveal Wayne's part in the scandal.
This was a very weak premier.

I don't remember the exact details with Wayne when he was part of his brother's administration, but I haven't liked him as President yet.
Last night's ending was good. Hopefully the show will continue from there.

Yes, I hope they pick things up.
They continue to cast annoyingly. Kumar isn't believable as a terrorist. Milo is obnoxious.
I do like the new Latina-pretending-to-be-Arab chick in CTU.

Kumar was a bad choice only because he was Kumar. The guy actually did a pretty good job with the acting. He wasn't believable as a cold blooded terrorist, but he was believable as a kid who became a terrorist and finally was faced with his first test of just what that meant.
Dr. Bashir from Deep Space Nine is doing a great job here.
By the latina, are you talking about the chick who was in Vegas Vacation?

Never saw it, so I wouldn't know.
I too like Dr. Bashir's role. He should do well.

Here's a thought. How does Jack Bauer go 24 hours without going to the bathroom? And now that Bauer threw up, is he going to brush his teeth at all?

When do you see anyone go ot the bathroom? You just have to assume he does.

Bauer is going to kill his father, and then fuck his mother.
Wayne Palmer is a lousy president so far. No kills last night, but a nice torture.

Interesting how Jack's brother was actually on the show last year and tried to kill him.

I'm a bit bothered by that plotline.
Jack's bro is a bad guy, and supposedly his Dad is, but he might not be, and Jack's bro is with a girl Jack used to date.
too soap opraish.

Jack's bro may not necessarily be a bad guy. He clearly works for the government too, albeit with a completely different means of accomplishing his goals.
There are those who might view Jack as a bad guy too. I'm not one of them, but that said, there are people that think that.
Obviously, Jack's brother is connected with Logan's scandal last year. Logan did the wrong thing, but didn't BELIEVE he was doing the wrong thing. Jack's brother is pulling the strings.
That said, I agree that the whole sloppy seconds thing is a bit weak.

It's also amazingly obvious that that kid is Jack's son.
I wasn't a fan of last season, and this season is starting off with a bonk. Throw in what Tom mentioned before about the creators wanting to wake up the country, which we all read, and with that hanging over my head, I'm disappointed thus far.

I thought 24 was good last night. But that boy is definitely Jack's son. Next week looks good. But what I wish they would have done was set up the season so you are not confused.

I hope that kid isn't Jack's son, though sure it's possible. He had better be able to kick some ass then.

Kind of a filler episode last night. The best part was when the Arab terrorist wannabes beat up Walid. I was cheering them on. No kills again for Bauer this week, but the previews indicate that he will be doing some killing next week.

Ok, this episode was a bit better. The only corny thing was Whalid being the master thief.

Totally worth the master thief thing for the beatdown. I was chanting "ECW! ECW!" while it was going on.
