Bastards! Just kidding. I didn't know you were running one, because I didn't see it posted...that's the only reason I posted.
I played through section39.com a few years back. Sorry about that.

Well, my wife won my pool, without even picking the winner (she had UNC) which shows how well she dominated in the early rounds.
It was a great game. I have been an anti-Jayhawk since 20 years ago - Danny and The Miracles. Always thought Manning was an overrated player and that team soured me on the Jayhawks. But my wife needed them to win last night just to bump off the guy who chose Memphis, so I found myself oddly rooting for them.
Kansas should have lost that game. They played horribly toward the end, and I've never seen a team with that much size give away offensive rebounds the way they did. Kansas should have had a 4 - 6 point lead at the end and should never have needed Chalmer's shot.
So last night's game did a lot in perpetuating my hatred for Jayhawks hoops, even though it won my wife a good chunk of cash.

Are you kidding me about Manning? It was one of the greatest performance by any player in the tournament history. Do you know his stats? I'm gonna say NO!!
We out played them for 34 minutes in regulation. What was there shooting pct. for the year and what was it last night? Rose chucked up a shot that had no business going in and I could list a lot of other shit down the stretch. There are games through out the year you should watch them. Nobody except Dicky V thought UNC would win when the tournament started.
Also how should they have lost and had a 4-6 point lead?

I wish I was able to see that final game. I was at the Stadium and missed the whole thing. Hell of a choke by Memphis though. As incredibly clutch as that last second 3 pointer was, it wouldn't have been possible if Memphis didn't brick the free throws down the stretch. It also wouldn't have been possible if Memphis had fouled Kansas with less than 10 seconds left.

You GOTTA love Calipari claiming that they tried desperately to foul in the end, but just didn't get the call...even going as far as to say they pushed the KU guard to the floor - everyone in America saw him trip on his own volition still get the pass off...and why didn't the defender foul the shooter after the initial alleged attempt at fouling failed.
Having said that, I have a different take, Balls. Hell of a choke by Kansas to get muscled out of countless rebounds on the offensive end...that game should never have been in a position for Kansas to have to make that shot. They should have closed it out with a 4 - 6 point lead.

I didn't see enough of the game to say it either way, but when you're up by 9 or so with 2 minutes to go, you should win the game. And bottom line is, it was Memphis that blew the lead, and Kansas that came back. Hard to say that a team that comes back dramatically and wins choked.

I guess what I'm getting at is that Kansas held a lead with a small amount of time to go, then mysteriously started taking unbelievably bad shots and handed Memphis at least 3 offensive rebounds that led to baskets in the last 4 or 5 minutes...prompting Memphis to go on something like a 14 point unanswered tear to lead up to that 9 point lead.
Kansas was the better team on paper, by far, and didn't play like it in the span of about 6 minutes left through 2 minutes left.

Mods, can we rename this college hoops thread?
I'm a bit of a college hoops junkie. Watched a very good Duke/Purdue game last night.
Tonight I really want to see the North Carolina/Mich. St. game tonight...an early season Top 25 mathcup, but I have a prior engagement.

Im partial to Kentucky after I started following them intently during a bracket pool run a few years back, but I also keep a keen eye on the Texas Longhorns, who had a key win against UCLA earlier this eve.

The Franklin & Marshall Diplomats are off their best start in nearly a decade, with a record of 5-0. They are not a ranked team in the preseason, so this is a bit of a surprise. But they've only played one decent team. They play in one of the tougher D3 conferences, and they did beat a team that beat the #12 team in the nation (now ranked 21) so it should be interesting to watch them as the season continues.

Sadly he did not add anything but a snarky remark. It would be nice if people would visit to actually discuss the topic on hand. I would be interested in their takes.
Anyway, honestly, I watch little of the college basketball. I follow it, I flip on a game if it is on, but I already DVR hockey games I get backed up on, I cant watch every sport. And college basketball interests me the least. But I keep an eye.

This past week was the ACC-Big 10 challenge.
The ACC took this tournament, no surprise there. The Big 10, in my mind, have always been overrated, and I think anyone would agree that the ACC is the best conference in the nation.
I was able to follow the UNC-Michigan State game a little bit on the TV in the noisy Sushi Bar I spent Wednesday night in.

No, but the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats upped their record to 7-0, defeating Hunter College in a rare meeting of the 2 schools.
Still too early to get excited, but it's a nice way to finish the year.

The Franklin & Marshall Diplomats returned to action this past weekend, winning the annual Tip of the New Year Tournament at Mayser Center, improving their record to an impressive 9-0.
The team is starting to get noticed, and is ranked 26th in the nation.

I was actually looking to come to this thread this morning.
I am all over this Davidson / Duke matchup tomorrow. Curry destroyed me in the Georgetown game in my NCAA pool last tourney.

We're actually in the Centennial Conference, but there is a Little East. I used that because I think it's a funny name too.

The Franklin & Marshall Diplomats improved their record to 10-0, their best start in years, by beating Swarthmore, 92-67. Swarthmore sucks, so that's not too impressive. They did what they were supposed to do. They have beaten some good teams, and have beaten at least one team that has beaten a ranked team, but they haven't played a ranked team yet. That's coming up on January 26, when they play #21 Ursinus.
Their next game is at Washington College. Historically, even when they were great and Washington sucked, they always had trouble in that gym.

Big three game stretch for St. John's coming. Sunday the play #1 @ Pitt, then they got #5 UConn, and finally #17 @ Villanova. Curious to see what happens. Their last game they beat #10 Notre Dame. I think it was a fluke because the Johnnies aren't that good but four straight games against top 17 opponents is something to watch. Go Red Storm!

I would love to see them knock off Pitt because of the attention they'd get for beating the No. 1 team, but as far as rooting interest, I detest UConn, so if I had to pick one of the three, fuck the Huskies.

Villanova and St. John's are my favorite college hoops teams, so that one's a heartwrencher for me.
The Davidson / Duke game was awesome last night. Duke was able to hold them off, but Stephen Curry continues to be an uncanny scoring machine. That little fucker destroyed me last year for my NCAA pool in the Georgetown game.

Two more hours (12:00) and SJU and Pitt tangle. Can't wait.....
And Chris, your boys lost to Louisville yesterday.
