Might very well be, if that person read this board.

The way this is typed, there is no question in my mind who lodged this protest.
I have protested a few trades over the years, and let through many more at the same time. But you guys can't be protesting a trade simply because it gets Pujols on to a competitive team. Well, legally you can, but I mean practically. You guys that protested this deal are just pissed that you couldn't be the one to get Pujols. But give Knoblauch credit - he gave up a stud pitcher in his deal, and the reigning MVP. Sure there is doubt about Morneau's condition, but he's back and playing.
If this trade got vetoed, I don't think anyone would ever trade in this league again. I'm not happy that Knob is getting Pujols, but I'm glad he pulled that off (and fairly, to boot), and I'm glad that Laura got fair value for someone that is nearly impossible to trade without incredible scrutiny.

Well, I appreciate the fact that most recogized that it was a pretty balanced trade. I, too, think that Knoblauch got a slight advantage in the deal, but I was rather desperate for a pitcher who doesn't suck.

Looking at this trade now that it's completed.
All four people will be inserted in the starting lineups.
The 1B swap, even though Pujols is the top pick and should do better in the second half, is pretty much a wash. In fact, despite the injury, Morneau has outproduced Pujols so far, 290 to 275.
-15 for Knoblauch, + 15 for Laura.
Rios replaces Sammy Sosa as Knoblauch's RF. To date, Sosa has 228 points. Rios has 302 points. That's an 74 point gain for Knoblauch. So overall, assuming the second half remains true to the first half, Knoblauch's additions netted him 59 points of offense.
But we're not done yet. Haren was Knoblauch's top pitcher, scoring 282 points to date. Since he made more than one pitching shift, I'll just pick the best pitcher not in Knoblauch's lineup last week, and insert him as Haren's replacement. That would be Chris Young, who has 226 points.
Knoblauch loses 56 points, in the light most favorable to him, assuming Haren keeps it up. Not analyzing his team dramatically, if he benched Young because of an injury, or something else, he loses more than 56 points.
So basically, Knoblauch, in the light most favorable to him, has a net gain of 3 points.
In reality, his team probably just got worse.
On to Laura:
She gets a net gain of 15 points at 1B, based on both players hitting like they have.
She had been using Rios as a CF. Torii Hunter replaces Rios. A net loss of 1 point.
So offensively, she's 14 points ahead.
Laura also made more than one pitching change. But in the light most favorable to HER, I will assuming Haren is going to replace Mitre, who had just 86 points.
Mitre was the least point producing pitcher to date.
I'm not taking the time to look at Points Per Start, which would likely be more accurate. Besides, Laura doesn't always make the most logical moves so I'm going in the light most favorable to her as best as I can figure.
That's a 196 point gain for Laura.
So in the light most favorable to Laura, assuming everyone keeps up their paces in the second half, this trade improves her team 210 points.
Despite trading Pujols, I think Laura's team improves, while Knoblauch's team at best stays the same, but more likely than not is worse.
Granted, Laura's team was doing so poorly there was only one direction it could go, and it's easier to improve a bad team than a solid one, but based on what I'm seeing, I would call Laura the big time winner of this trade.

Agreed there. Knoblauch is an idiot to give up Haren.

I don't protest this trade, just for the record, as I have recently been accused of clandestine dealings. I think those who have an opinion should hike up their skirts, pull out their tampons and admit who they are and why they protest.
Seriously, if you care enough to protest, quit skulking about in the shadows to scuttle the deal.

Kind of defeats the purpose of it. You don't want hard feelings and revenge protests.

I find it amusing that Pops and Knoblauch have time to work out trades together, but dont have time to take guys off the DL off the DL on their own rosters, or put DL'd players on.
Way to go, morons!

Kind of defeats the purpose of it. You don't want hard feelings and revenge protests. Uh, we have had people ADMIT that they were only protesting a trade because they had a trade protested or simply because of WHO was trading... that IS hard feelings and revenge, is it not? GAY.

Its just a dumb trade all around, and pointless. Best left ignored, and not protested.

My starting staff has been lacking in getting me Win's & positive points , boy is that an understatement !!! with age & the D.L. taking it's toll on my staff . this is a good deal as I get 2 starters with 10 wins & over 100 K's each . 2\5's of my starting staff has been replaced for a B.J. LOL

Gee that trade has worked out well. Matsui is doing a good job of picking up points at second. In 2 starts each has had a win & a bust start . but it's still beter then I was getting from the bum's I had starting. Shaun Marcum had pitched at least six innings in 16 of 18 starts before last night's three-inning outing. Francis rebounded from his worst start of the season. The Rockies staff has been hit hard with injuries and need Francis to eat innings the rest of the season.
