So Session 3 begins with Pops storming out to a massive 1/3 of a point lead over Neil. Larry is putting the pressure on, since he's within 5 points of the leader. Larry of course is the heavy preseason favorite and remains in first place, with just 22 weeks to go. Laura, the preseason pick for last place, is in last, but Jose is primed for a takeover of the basement. It's a question of who wants it least.
But Jose does have Roger Clemens, who currently plays for no one, and Pedro Martinez, expected back after the All Star Break, on his bench. Can Laura say that?
Pops--55 Neil--54.67 Evan--51.67 Larry--50.33 Milton--43 Capone--38 Suzy--30.67 Justin--29 Knoblauch--27 Tom--22 Jose--21 Laura--12

I love how there are 12 teams in the league, yet everyone feels the need to sweat mine. Its amusing, and pathetic, at the same time. Shows I got whats going on, that everyone worries about how my team is doing day by friggin' day.

So Milton is trying hard to join the battle for the basement, but Jose and Laura don't seem to want much company. Jose scored just 10 points last night, and actually GAINED ground on Laura, who only scored 7. And here's a strange fact--the current session leader is actually Knoblauch of all people. KNOBLAUCH! What are the odds of that lasting? Knoblauch!
There is a hell of a nice bunching of points in the middle. The difference between 5th place and 10th place is just 55 points. Anything can happen. Larry, Suzy and Pops remain the top 3 and are in a bunch of their own. Tom is kind of in no man's land, 50 points away from the top 3, but only 60 points away from Knoblauch.
Knoblauch--104 Neil--89 Justin--86.33 Pops--82 Evan--73.67 Larry--66.33 Tom--64.67 Suzy--63.67 Capone--59.33 Milton--58 Jose--31 Laura--19

I had a Hell of a run a couple of years ago where I went from firmly entrenched in 8th up to 2nd in about 3 weeks, where i stayed the rest of the year. Over the course of a month and change, I was pacing the league, after being at least 300 or more points out of 2nd. It could be done.

Just so everyone knows, Tom had a good year in this league once.
Balls, I recommend more "Hi Tom!" in your session updates.

I've done fine around here. Won more sessions than a lot of folks around here longer than me. I am not chagrined at all. End of the day I still know more baseball than the rest of you idiots.

You just gave me a good idea. There have been 67 sessions in the history of the league. If I think of it, I should do a breakdown of who has won how many sessions.

Balls, in all due respect you should spend more time checking rosters day to day for DL and roster violations (which you claim you dont have time to do) than playing with the past.

speaking of dl violations. balls, you best be checking that stuff. i did something this week that if i wanted to be shady, i didnt necessarily have to drop a player. but i have integrity so i did it. you need to keep up on that shit. some of us dont come with the high standard of integrity that others do.

I can't check that day to day anymore than anyone else can. But I am making an effort to check at least once a week. To answer John's question, I have all the data. What's missing is the final standings of 2002. I know who won the last session, but not the point totals.

But why CANT you check? You ARE the commissioner, no? When I go in to check that, it takes me all of TEN FRIGGIN' MINUTES to count how many active players a guy has on his roster. Why cant you do that every day? You sure as Hell spend 20 times that in the amount of time making stupid arguments on this message board.
Folks, we are going to be getting stricter on that roster stuff. I have already caught people skirting around, which I then forwarded to Balls. An email will be going out soon discussing more severe penalties for roster violations.

I really don't understand how difficult it is, seeing as how it takes less time than it does to tell bad jokes or hate black people like you do in other threads.

I had a hell of a run some years back too . I found a $ 50 on the street . I can also recall finding twenties too . But so far this year I've only been finding quitters & dimes . Kind of like Tom's team He came in second once years back & now he is just looking to find some coins .

I like black people. I own every episode of Good Times on DVD. I just don't worship any.
My jokes are brilliant and always good for a guffaw or three.
As for the injuries, I'll check once a week.

You keep continuing to "check once a week" and I will continue to field offers of consideration for new commissioners next year. I just mentioned to someone here who runs a league how our commissioner "tries to check rosters once a week" and he laughed his ass off. And he had a good question, "what DOES he do?"
The problem in this league is that this is no longer a preventitive measure, its something we KNOW is going on, and we have a lazy commissioner who refuses to do anything about it. So now its in my hands, and the penalties will be ramped up. I'll be sending an email shortly.
I will be taking over a lot of day to day matters, I think, which will be clear-cut as to not show any conflict in interest, like this one.

Seeing as one can only make roster moves ones a week , {Que up Milton} there's no need to get your panties on a snit . If one check's trice a week once before the Rosters are set for the week & once on Sunday after the rosters are set . If someone is off the D.L. & not ACTUATED then off with their heads .

I'll have you know, you dummy, that in 3 random checks the last week and a half, i found a violation every time. A popular one is keeping a player who is off the DL on the DL, and therefore carrying an extra roster player. This crap is going to stop, with penalties up to and including locking rosters completely. Its obvious some of you can not police yourselves, so its time to step in.

tj. the only time you would see that out of me is on weekends when i dont have computer access. people doing that really piss me off. i couldve/shouldve done that this week which would have allowed me to actually keep an injured player. msb, i know you dont get anything for being a commissioner, but checking these violations once a week is definitely not enough. i need to think long and hard about abiding by these rules if not everyone is going to do the same.

Tom--when you check these things, you have to check on the following Sunday. Often, I find things that LOOK like violations, but when I click on the following Sunday, they have their house in order. And when you find what you think is a violation, feel free to actually TELL me.
In response to the plebeians, I checked just now, and e-mailed one person who has to make a move.
There is a second person, but that person knows, and was actually the person to ask to be unlocked.

Balls, I know about the Sunday thing. But yeah, agreed that it is easy for someone just passing through to be tripped up by that.
The fact that you just checked now and nailed someone proves my point.
Between all of us, lets make an effort to monitor this, and its one less thing to worry about. Thanks.

Fact is, people should be monitoring their own teams, and I'm simply not going to think to do this daily, and to be honest, it's not a job I want. I will check it from time to time though, and I'm trying to follow the once a week suggestion.

Balls, dont fight me on this. You will lose. I have other people who are willing to do the job. Wether you "want the job or not" you ARE the commissioner.....so monitor the teams! There is a reason people "dont monitor themselves" - they are cheating! And they are apparently comfortable enough to know you dont check anything, so they continue to do so. And that is why I stepped in, and am considering firmer options as a disciplinarian commish next year if thats what this still undisciplined group needs. You just went on there and FOUND AN OFFENSE RIGHT NOW and you have the nerve to tell us that you want to check this weekly?

the unfortunate thing here is, not everyone can be online everyday. the other unfortunate thing is there is no way to tell when the red dl dissappears, so you cant even make a rule, that if the dl goes away and you dont drop a player within 48 hours, you lose your weekly transaction, because we never know when the red dl was dropped by yahoo. frustrating.

Actually, pops, it kind of is an issue. Because if they wait until, say, Friday to release someone, then the player would remain on waivers for two days. So someone wishing to pick up the discarded player would not have the option of playing him that week.
