Before anyone wonders, no, Stan Musial is not dead. While playing around over the weekend I stumbled upon a baseball memorabelia archive, with some cool history to play around with. For the next week I will be running a vintage theme at the top, taking advantage of the baseball bent that bought most of us together in the first place, while making a cool nod to the legacy of the game at the same time.
Hope you tolerate, if not enjoy it.

Did you beat Balls at an arm wrestling contest or something? As co-moderator, how could he possibly tolerate any non-Yankee vintage imagery.

At the end of the day I am a BASEBALL fan who happens to root for the Yankees. I think you'll see that come across in a lot of my postings.
I could care less what any pinstriped princes think of pics of Stan "The Man" and others.

Let's not forget, the MLB logo was modeled ofter Musial's bating stance.
Nice idea, Tom. Any Rod Carew or Roberto Clemente coming?

Ah, actually they say it was HARMON KILLEBREW as the model for that logo.
I actually already pulled and saved a pic of Carew, but it showed up poster-size. This is an idea that can stick around for a while, and offend few. And baseball provides endless amounts of fodder.

I guess if you put that way....I could consider myself a YANKEES FAN who just so happens to enjoy following the rest of the league as well.

They just renamed 8th avenue in St. Louis after Stan the Man. Way to be a trendsetter Tom!

Ah, actually they say it was HARMON KILLEBREW as the model for that. Now that you mention it, you are correct. My mistake.

And more important, the pitch on the MLB logo is a ball.

The key words to Tom's point is "THEY SAY."
It had been debunked over and over...it's NOT Harmon Killebrew. That's a myth.

Says who, Cho? "They?"
Where is proof of this so-called definitive "myth" you speak of.

Uhhh, aren't YOU the one who claims that this has been proven not to be Harmon Killebrew, Tom?

Speaking of Andre Dawson and those old Expos uniforms...
When I was a kid I always used to wonder what the hell the "elb" was on their caps.

Cho, with you 100% on that one. It STILL looks like an ELB to me. Sounds like a bank.
Another note on that - fuckin Steib was one of those pitchers who gave me the hangdog look when I saw he was facing the Yankees. I have a lot of respect for that guy, he was a Hell of an underrated hurler and had a career to be proud of.
Next week is Balls' turn to run the top of the board, we have gone with a rotating system - lets see what sort of idea he has runnin'

Balls, the top of the board is in your hands through next Sunday. At the very least change it for now, to get two ballplayers for teams in CANADA off the top on our own Memorial Day!

Balls, your idea was ok, but you sort of flubbed. Yesterday was MEMORIAL DAY, you know, remembering soldiers who died in war. It was not VETERANS DAY, thanking our soldiers for serving. So while soldier Joe Dimaggio is a nice shot, it has little to do with the sentiments of Memorial Day, if that is what you were going for.
The Ballzaro SI thing was mine, I was seeing all around that a lot of SI readers were grumpy they went with a cartoon/comic cover. And despite the Yankees little surge of late, it reflects the frustrations of this Yankee fan, looking up at Tampa, who have notoriously been kicking our asses.

Honoring our military is never wrong, especially this week. Joe D. was a great vet, and he is currently dead, so while it didn't happen in a war, it still accomplishes the job.
That was a great SI cover, though Uptown showed it to me last week.

Re: Top of the "Pinstripe Prattle" section.
Looks like Vinny is going to have start printing up some "Section 202" shirts. Let's hope that you all don't get morphed into the "Pavilion Creatures!"
Also, if you Creatures do take over Section 202, looks like you will be afforded some prime visitors bullpen heckling opportunities.

I would imagine the goal is to get into 203, as 202 is drifting well into the vinterlands of centerfield environs. They will be far enough away as it is.
