That wasn't a plaque--that was his tombstone.

Balls had thrown a stone from James Polk up there a couple of weeks ago, ironically I had just picked up a book about Polk. My reading tastes swing all over the place, and recently I have been on a Presidents kick - but mostly 1820s-1860s Presidents. Enjoying the era, grabbing some slick reads. Oh, incidentally, I am also a tombstone / graveyard fan, so cool by me.

I found a great website where some guy actually goes around, finds, and takes pictures of most of the president's graves.
So if you see some sort of plaque, that's that.
I used to be a useless facts on presidents buff. Polk was actually quite the workaholic. He felt that he should never take a vacation, and spent 4 years pretty much going nonstop.
The effort paid off with his death a few months after he left office in one term. He was actually the first president to leave office in one term without running for re-election.

I just picked up one of those Presidents books, with a bunch of blast facts, sidebars, graphs, pics, all that. Nice reference tool, and not a weighty sort of thing, if you just want some quick hits of facts. Im looking forward to reading this book on Polk I picked up.

When I was a kid, I loved the book, Last Cow on the White House Lawn, which was a kids version of those kinds of facts.

Ok, well, the reason I did not post at all today was the top of the board. While it did not personally offend me or any such thing, I told Balls I was in the Long Island office where my screen could easily be seen. There is an HR director in that office, and my own manager. I was somewhat surprised he did not take that as a hint to pull it for the day, and instead decided to keep his picture up there instead of having me post.
May be more of the dsame tomorrow, even though I am in the city. We have regional meetings, and I can not have that image showing up on my screen. So if you dont see me, thats why.
Would have liked to have posted today too, what with the Hall of Fame stuff especially.

Obviously, this is Jersey Shore week at Heckle House--if you guys have a special top of the board picture request, feel free to post it here, and I'll put the one I like best on here. That's the situation.

The financial planning software company I previously worked for was owned by a prominent Mormon family in Orange County. Funnily enough, Gordon Jump was a good friend of theirs and actually did some freebie promo videos uses at The Million Dollar Round-table and other financial planners conventions.
Every time I saw one of the promos, I immediately thought....pederast!!!!!

Honestly, that is one of the worst jobs of "matching clothes" i have ever seen. Talk about cross-patterns! People have been lined up against a wall and shot for less than that.
