Back then I thought that the title matches might have been real. My family didn't get a VCR until late 1986. Before then, I watched TV in the primitive way.

Boy, Rock sure knows how to pick em..
The Rock is starring as the Tooth Fairy in an upcoming family movie that will begin filming in August. He plays the role of an ordinary man who is called to save the tooth fairy kingdom.

He's in the new Get Smart movie, which I won't see. The one that seems interesting is his role in Shazam! as Captain Marvel's nemesis Black Adam.

Just read today that Great Khali makes a cameo in that same Get Smart movie.
I think that movie should come with a slogan.....GET SMART - DONT WATCH THIS MOVIE!

Actually, the trailer for Get Smart was surprisingly decent. And I was very against the idea at first.
The Rock as Black Adam could be interesting. But I wonder if they will make the character as vicious as he should be.

Probably not, because it will be pg13.
Get Smart is going to be terrible. This is one of those instances where the show, which was funny because of Mel Brooks, should have left alone.

Instinct and experience makes me think you are right. But that trailer did look good. I'll have a wait and see approach. If they were smart, they would have had Mel Brooks involved in some capacity.

Why, so 80% of the people wasting time watching this can go, "who the Hell is that guy?"

I'm actually talking about as a writer/producer. Mel Brooks was one of the creative geniuses BEHIND the scenes with Get Smart.

Well, thats the funny thing. He is actually in the midst of an extended stay in a rehab facility, and they will be flying him in, with handlers to keep an eye on him, for the festivities. To make it even more amusing, Scott Hall, who is sharing rehab space with him, may accompany him for support.
Drinking and drugging aside, Jake is a worthy pick here.

Not more worthy than Owen. He's not a bad pick though. But his daughter is ugly.

From The Slammer - Daily News.......
Rock pins down dad's role Friday, February 29th 2008, 4:00 AM
Aunt Thelma attended the Academy Awards with former WWE star Jack (Wildman) Armstrong (he claimed Sharon Stone canceled - something about her having to vacuum). At the lobby concession stand, she was thrilled to meet The Rock (melting her Bon Bons), who revealed his next movie project - a biography.
Given his physical stature, she eliminated him as the lead in "The Mickey Rooney Story." So he said it's about former WWE star Rocky Johnson, who happens to be his father. And who better to play Johnson than another Johnson (The Rock's real name is Dwayne Johnson)? Plus, who better to play a wrestler than a former one?
If you're too young to remember Rocky, his career spanned three decades (1960s-1980s). He won numerous belts in the NWA and was a WWE Tag Team Champion (1983-84) with Tony Atlas.
The idea was Dwayne's, and he won't need to do much research since The Rock was with Dad training in gyms since he was a pebble (Armstrong roomed with Rocky back then, and helped train the younger Rock).
The tentative title of the film is "Ring King," and although the script is still a work in progress, the producers hope to begin shooting later this year.
Also speaking of the Johnsons, Rocky will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame along with his dad, Chief Peter Maivia (The Rock's grandpa) and Ric Flair (the only man so honored while still active). Plus, The Rock has agreed to give the induction speech.

I hate when people use the "since Rock was a pebble" allusion.

I read on prowrestling.net Jake the Snake is a possible Hall choice this year, not smart with all the drug stuff going on as well as the congress crap with Vince.

She hasn't entertained for 70 years. She only became relevant when McMahon dug her up and made her relevant. She's no Moolah.
And the Mae Young is pregnant angle still sickens me--especially the birth scene. One of the grossest things in wrestling history. The only thing that saved it was the line, "let's give Mae Young a hand" at the end.
That said, that powerbomb was amazing.
If Mae Young were so special, she wouldn't be old.

I think what you meant to say was she didn't entertain in the 80's when you actually watched the matches.....LOL

The only women's wrestlers of any significance in the 80s were Wendi Richter and Moolah. There were some lesser players like Spider, Velvet McIntyre, Leilani Kai, and a few others.

Who cares if she hasn't wrestled for 70 years? Did you even look at who's in the HOF? It's full of old stars from that era and before. She only became relevant to YOU because you watch skits and not wrestling. If it was based on current relevant status then the old school people wouldn't be there.
It's a hall of fame for all wrestlers throughout the ages, not the MSB hall of fame for goofy wrestlers of the 80's.
