A lot of Raw - specific chatter is lost in the WWE thread. Dana made a point that its funny that ECW has its own thread, but Raw and Smackdown, no. Well, this is as good a reason as any to get a Raw thread out there.
TONIGHT - RAW IS ON SCI-FI. Preempted on USA. It will be replayed on USA at 11PM. Dont record USA at 9, you will see Tennis, not Raw.

Correction, tennis is not on because Maria isn't playing. However, Raw is on sci fi but because they decided to put shit on instead. Still, not as bad as the stupid ass dog shit.
I however am gonna tivo Raw, I was suppose to do a draft at 7 30 but the guy who set up the draft told me it was live and fucked up and made it auto pick. So me under the impression I was drafting live, had a nice buzz going pre draft. Now, I'm pissed. I couldn't enjoy Raw even if Mickie and Beth had a queefing contest. I fucking hate fantasy sports.

At 9 o clock promptly, they made an annoucement of Raw being on Sci Fi. Maria was in the booth doing an interview while they were talking about it and the guy made a joke about Maria having it Tivod. She quipped back, yeah cause I'm home where I can watch it. Maybe she was being a smart ass, which is still cool, but if she doesn't mind watching a wrestling match, she just got hotter if that's possible.

I never watch Raw live anyway, but I was glad Tom gave the heads up so I could fix the DVR. Flipping channels, I caught a bit of Michaels cutting what looked like a very good promo. I look forward to seeing it.

Funny note I read in the Observer during the LONG DX promo. Its funny how DX' HHH and HBK are being deemed the "tag team of the 90's" in this feud. Well, know how many times those two teamed together in the 90s?
Five.
Apparently 3 TV matches, and a NY swing through the Garden and the Nassau Coliseum. They were single wrestlers, obviously, with Road Dogg and Billy Gunn handling most of the tag load in that faction.
Man, did that segment go long. Although referring to Lillian as a horseface in the fashion they did was funny.

I enjoyed the DX promo--it was a good throwback to the super long comedy skits the WWE did in the late 90s. You don't really see that too much today--probably because HHH and HBK are two of the only ones left that can truly pull it off.
I really do like the second generation stable, but I hope what happened isn't the beginning of Dibiase being separated.
Shane McMahon ruled the night, though it would be nice to start seeing Vince again soon.
Damn I wish Hogan beat Rock in 2002.

See, a lot of people hated the DX stuff. Its LOOOOONGGGG promos that turned off a lot of fans. At the end of the day, its supposed to be a wrestling show. A lot of DX's material is corny. It went on too long. Comedy is dangerous anyway, when it goes long, as its hard to be on all the time.
From what I am getting out of it Orton simply taught Dibiase another lesson on the road, and they will all end up together.
Its obvious they are setting up a Shane / Steph power struggle, and going take on it is that HHH will soon jump in on Stephs side, and that will come into the open, and Vince will come back to help out his son.

Another McMahon-Helmsley era? I like it.
And yeah, the DX stuff fucking ruled. They killed so much time on that bit alone, plus the match, and non of it dragged. I was honestly hoping for a DX job, but I'm glad it wasn't a total squash. Miz and Morrison need to be off ECW and officially on Raw or Smackdown, they're great together.
Guess Vince pulled the plug on Batista quickly, doesn't upset me any. I didn't get why you'd have all 3 heavyweight champs be faces. Jericho is is a way better choice for all the different people he can work with and the quality of the work he's been putting in.
Not a bad Raw, but nothing too special. Shane did rule, and it is a real treat Steph is back on TV again.

Its really, really time for a Batista turn. He's just really stale. Oddly, one reason he has not been turned in years is he has pushed against it. His little exchange with HBK after Flair was retired was a good time for it.
I am also happy to see snobby Steph on TV again. And, wether people like it or not, and though I get tired of them being forced down the throat all the time, McMahons = ratings. It has been proven through the years.

I never tire of the Mac Daddy's. Vince is a fucking riot every time on screen and look at the fresh breath of air Steph and Shane gave the show? I wonder if the do pair up Trips and Steph again, will they mention the kids and the real marriage, not the on air wedding(s).

The lack of a McMahon presence does hurt the show a lot. It's amazing how far Steph came in terms of on air presence.
I actually didn't realize Jericho won the belt back. My DVR cut off at the end of Raw and I just assumed Batista won. Oops.

It's very rare the title changes hands on Raw. I'm glad Jericho won, though I don't see the point of Batista even getting the belt. They need some fresh faces.

Some of the thinking in letting Batista finally win the belt back was that yet another failed attempt would do more harm to the guy. How many times can he consistently fail. If it was building up to a heel turn or something, great. But if not, he just looks like a loser. Its bad business. As it is, losing the belt 8 days after he wins it makes him look like a loser too, but that was the thinking in giving him the strap again.
Also, there are title changes here and there on Raw. With the ratings down across the board, this is as good a time to do something like that as there ever was. Another Raw note - this time around Adamle is pretty much officially gone, there is no further plans for him. Perhaps he can be one of those loony characters they can call to town whenever they need a heap of silly folks to dance in the ring like Boogeyman, Kung Fu-Naki, Hornswoggle, Goldust, Jesse and Festus, Sgt Slaugher, and Lillian and Cole did this past week.

If they didn't want him to look like a loser, why not just keep him away from title shots for awhile?
I'll miss Adamle. He was great for the wrong reasons. Unintentionally funny, and nothing said that more than his final promo, which may have been the worst WWE promo I have ever seen. I can't remember that many botched lines.

I didn't think his promo was bad. If he would've came out and said a few months back he wanted to be neutral, it would've helped his character. But he was so bland, there or not, his presence isn't noticed.
As for Batista, he's so fucking over, he's making fat cash, keep your mouth shut and do what's asked. It's bad business to have a heel chasing a face for the belt, if Batista is chasing Jericho, it's much better. He can't do what HHH is doing on SD, being the smart ass face champ, so be happy with your spot, cause Mysterio and Punk could easily be in that spot and have better matches with Jericho. Fuck Batista, I hate hearing when he bitches. He got such a great spot HANDED to him, and he's complaining. And he's not that good either, he's such a baby. I'm glad Booker smacked the shit out of him, he has no respect........(((RESPECT))).

Sorry to see Santino lose the belt, but that Honkameter had me actually thinking they were going to keep the strap on him long enough to threaten the record. Much as I enjoy the antics of Santino, and much as I feel that he is worthy of the legacy that is the Honky Tonk Man, there is no one out there worthy of beating that record and calling himself the greatest intercontinental champion of all time.

I am the happiest guy in the world Santino lost that belt. He was bringing the belt down. Regal as IC Champ is kickass, at least we will see some good Championship battles. Santino was relegated to 90 second matches. He does not need the belt to do his schtick.
It was getting really old.

I agree the belt isn't necessary for Santino's gimmick, but that Honkameter thing made me think he'd have the belt a lot longer than he did. I could even envision him losing the belt in a squash match just like HTM did.

Even the Honkameter gag was long in the tooth. Santino has a lot of other material to work with, where he did not need to waste a couple of minutes of TV time a week chatting about the Honkameter. The fact that most of todays younger-skewing audience either does not know, or does not care, about the Honkey Tonk man was simply bad business.
It had to end. That said, I am looking forward to Santino's next venture.

While I think you are underestimating people's knowledge of the past, I agree that the Honkameter thing wasn't a good idea. They would have had to sustain it for 64 weeks. Not likely.

Balls, the audience if full of kids. And I can tell from the posts on the wrestling board that the Honkey Stuff Man stuff was sailing over everyones head. Oh, and for proof, check the footage of when Honky showed up at the PPV, and the Raw the next night.....you could have heard a pin drop.
Not everyone grew up a Hulkamaniac, like us, enjoying all the fare on the table back then.

What Im not misunderstimating is the total lack of crowd response both times Honky Tonk Man came out to the ring in the last month. Hell, that may have been the reason the whole gimmick was pulled so quickly aftewards.

I don't get how people forget Honky. What I really want is for people to forget Hogan. LOL at you old men bragging about being from the Hulkamania Era. There couldn't have been a more overrated era than that one. And you wonder why people forget about the Honky Tonk Man. Stop living in the past you fossils, it wasn't that great. I've seen tapes.

You're just jealous because the legacy of Hulkamania will dwarf that of HBK and every wrestler that followed combined. Fact is, HTM is a legend just because he was on the same show as Hogan.
Whatcha gonna do, when the power of Hulkamania runs wild on you?
