He took a few good guys to the distance. When Wanderlei Silva KOed him the way they did people were shocked at he was alb eto do that to him, and Silva is looked upon as the best fighter out today.

From the clips I've seen, he looks like a big guy. It might be a disadvantage for him to have to cut weight to light heavyweight.

He is awesome, and I told you to watch you for him. He's a monster. The Jackson/Henderson fight is going to be unreal.

Yeah when they annoucned Henderson I was like holy fuck. One of my useless friends got pissed like all that hype and the fight lasted less than a minute. I had to adk him, you know this is Chuck Liddell right? He's almost never been put out like that before. Rampage is great on the stick, too fuckin funny with his faces and shit. I also like the guy Karo Parysian, looked better than in the past and I could watch him judo toss people left and right.

So I actually DVRd/watched Bodog Fight from last night. Its a crisp product. Selling point for me was finding out Daniel Puder was fighting on the show. He ended up doing away with some slob in the first of 3 5-minute rounds, nailing him with a sick kick and then pummelling him on the mat. The first match was classic boxer vs matman battle, which went the distance and featured a lot of standoff sort of stuff. It was a good watch though. The show is held in exotic locales, this one had the ring set up on a Costa Rican beach. They inundate you with bikini-clads coming in and out of commercial, and scatterred throughout the show, which is not the worst thing. I had fun watching, and think I will watch again next week. Bodog Fight, 11PM, Tuesday night, ION Network. Find out more on www.bodogfight.com

This weeks UFC PPV has a good card.
Tito Ortiz vs. Rahad Evans should be good. Anderson Silva is fighting, and Antonio Nogueria is making his UFC debut.

I hope Evans beats the shit out of Ortiz. I hate his fucking guts and firmly believe he's overrated. There's just something about him I really can't stand, I can't put my finger on it though.

Did you watch Ortiz when he coached Ultimate Fighter?
My first impression of Ortiz was that he was a total dick. And I was rooting for Shamrock's team.
But as the show went on, Ortiz outcoached Shamrock in every conceivable way. He just came off much different on the show as they showed him more and more.

Ortiz is a douche but Shamrock was a bigger douche and always has been and it was shown during that season of TUF.

I've probably seen it all now.
Heath Herring, who is the guy in the infamous video where he punches the Japanese guy after he kisses him before the bout started, was being dominated by Antonio Nogueria, until Herring caught him with a lucky sidekick, literally knocking him out. Then, as Herring was going for the kill, he gets up and tells Nogueria to get up to fight on his feet. This was in the first round.
Herring then lost by decision. 3 to 4 more punches and he would have had a major upset victory on a guy who has beat him TWICE. Instead, he gave him a 2nd chance and lost. Unreal.

Spike put on another UFC for free last night. uk.ufc.com/index.cfm?fa=eventdetail.fightCard&eid=757Cro Cop lost again. Part of it was due to getting kneed in the balls a couple of times, though I thought he was losing anyway. The main event was Jackson, the guy who KOed Liddell, v. the Pride Light Heavyweight champion in a unification match. Jackson won. For me though, the fight I liked was Matt Hamill v. Michael Bisping. Both these guys were on Ultimate Fighter III. Bisping was the winnger. Hamill won a fight, but was hurt so badly he couldn't continue in the tournament, so he never lost. This fight was basically the final that probably would have happened but for that. I can't stand Hamill. The only thing about him that I think is cool is that he looks like POS Dan: So when he fights, I can be like, "ha that's Dan." But anyway, everything else about this guy pisses me off. He's deaf. So everyone sucks him off about overcoming his deafness. Also, he's a very good wrestler, so everyone sucks him off about that. They talk about him as an all american without mentioning it was Division III. But yeah, he's an outstanding wrestler. All throughout the show, they showed how Tito Ortiz made him the teacher's pet, and he varied his time between playing victim and kiss ass. The other people in the house hated him, which of course is natural. The card was in England, and he entered the ring to Born in the USA. He was fighting the pride of England, the undefeated Michael Bisping. Some figured that if Bisping loses the fight, it would be like he never won the Ultimate Fighter 3. Personally, I just wanted to see the deaf Dan lookalike get a beating. For whatever reason, Hamill kept the fight standing. Hamill's stand up game was much better than on the show. But I thought he won the first two rounds, while Bisping won the last round. Yet it was a split decision, and they gave it to Bisping. I was surprised, but glad.

The fights before those were good also.
Congo's defeat of Cropcop is an upset, but not a total shock, and it's not a bad loss. This was not the UFC giving Crocop a warm up fight, and I think opponents have figured Cropcop out, which is something he is going to have to fix if he wants to get back to past success.
Henderson Vs. Rampage was the best fight of the night, hands down, and Rampage's post fight interview was comedy gold. why Dana White isn't plastering this guy all over TV and ESPN is beyond me. This guy is the guy who can take UFC to new heights.

Just LOOKING at Congo, you have to wonder who the hell could beat him. They did mention that UFC wasn't going to give CroCop a tune up.
The only problem was the knees to the balls.
I fell asleep before the Jackson fight was over. Now I'm mad I missed the interview.
I guess the Bisping/Hamill fight was the one I was most interested because I knew the fighters the best.
On any night, most good fighters can lose to another good fighter.

It was a good card top to bottom, but you figured as much since they showed it on Spike to grab even more casual fans. I was big on Cro Cop when he first came in, but I'm starting to wonder about him. He's a great fightr, but he's having a real hard time adjusting, not just to new opponents, but I think the cage is still fucking with head.
Rampage needs his own talk show. He was on O&A a few weeks back, great interview, funny as hell and natural. He's the same everywhere he goes, it's fantastic. I'd pay just to see him shoot the shit, he doesn't even need to fight anyone for me to be entertained by him.

Mark Cuban, in an interview with MMA Weekly Radio this week, talked about his new MMA venture, HDNet Fights and his interest in co-promoting the events with the McMahons.
"We've been in discussions with the WWE, Vince and Linda McMahon and Shane about doing some cross promotions under the HDNet Fights banner," said Cuban. "Since they do a great job of putting together events, within some of the restraints that I talked about, the no ring girls and obviously the events have to be straight up, there's no scripted anything, but they want to get into that side of the business. They realize that if they just brand it as WWE, that people aren't going to believe that it's not scripted, but if they work with Mark Cuban and HDNet Fights and the Dallas Mavericks approach, then people will trust it."

Anyone catch the Ultimate Fighter this week? New season. Matt Hughes and Matt Serra are coaching. Good choices.

Is Matt Serra a bald dude? I watched Fight Girls, and one of the fighters was dating, I think, him. He had a few cameos, cool dude. Me, I dont watch any of this UFC stuff. I tried to watch Bodog, and still DVR it. But the thing is, with my "wrestling watching obligations" I dont feel like opening up this can of worms, and add to my plate.
I did, however, read a heap of reviews of this seasons UFC, and people are liking it.
Hey, Balls, I thought your UFC watching rights were pulled after you fell asleep during the biggest televised UFC match of the decade.

Matt Serra is a Long Islander with a straight New York accent. He is bald--or close enough to being bald. He was actually a contestant on Ultimate Fighter I think 2 seasons ago--that was the comeback season. That season they brought in a bunch of guys who were in the UFC, but never made it that far. Some won a few fights, some just tasted the big show. Serra I think was 2-2 in the UFC going into that show. The prize was not only a contract, but a title shot. At the time, the welterweight champ was Matt Hughes, who had one loss on his career. He was scheduled to fight one of the trainers, George St. Pierre, who is a top UFC fighter. Hughes was one of those guys who was a super duper badass. Serra does seem to have him pegged--a cocky, midwest farmboy, who was the captain of the football team type. Great fighter though, but he rubs Serra the wrong way. Serra stuck out on the show not just for winning his fights but because he was one of those personalities that just takes charge. I learned he actually runs a dojo in his own right, and he was a very good coach for his teammates. It makes sense that he was asked to coach this time around. Serra won the Ultimate Fighter. Meanwhile, Hughes lost his fight to George St. Pierre. That wasn't a major upset. They had fought once before and it was close, and St. Pierre seems to be an elite fighter. So it came time for Serra to collect on his title shot, and THAT was the big upset. Serra beat St. Pierre. So now, Serra is the unlikely champ, and he will be fighting Hughes in December. I like when the two coaches fight. It was one of the better starts to a season of Ultimate Fighter yet. Even better, there was this one contestant who broke his elbow in practice. He got all mad when the doctor told him he couldn't fight. He wanted to continue--with a broken elbow. It was really cool to watch. Ultimate Fighter is one of my favorite reality shows.

Serra is a bum, and got lucky vs. George St. Pierre.
His boy is also a bum, and he got sent home today. He pussied out big time.

A lot are saying Serra got lucky. Either that, or he's peaking at the right time. If he beats Hughes though, people will likely stop saying that. His boy did pussy out.
Bum or not, I think Serra is a good coach. And his boy didn't listen to him. I thought that round was actually pretty close before that tap. It's not like the guy didn't know he had about 8 seconds left. Serra was screaming "don't tap."

A lot of times, the best coaches are the people who aren't the best athletes. But I also think Hughes is going to win easily. You have to admit though--if Serra pulls it out again, he's going to earn some serious respect.
Either way, he still won the title against a HELL of a fighter in St. Pierre.

The Fight Network has just reported that Randy Couture has quit the promotion, vacating his heavyweight title and leaving his job as a color commentator.
Couture, who works for The Fight Network itself, so there is no way they are going to miss on this story, wrote a letter from South Africa where he's filming the Scorpion King movie, to Dana White.
Not getting a match with Fedor Emelianenko played a part in his decision. The decision was made when it became clear the match with Fedor wasn't happening.
It is known Couture was one of the top UFC fighters who was unhappy when reading about the huge money guaranteed in the company's offers to Emelianenko, because he felt he and a few others were the fighters who helped build the current popularity and they weren't getting guaranteed income for fights anywhere near that level, particularly since they were bigger drawing cards.
With the decline of Chuck Liddell, Couture was likely the company's biggest short-term drawing card, and without question, was its most popular fighter.
We will have more on this story later.

Very interesting, though at the same time, Couture is in his 40s, like 42 or 43. Still great, but how much longer could that last.

Enough to still draw and make tons of cash.
From what he's been saying, the big wigs at UFC have been lowballing him.

He can definitely still draw. That's not really the point though. I bet Royce Gracie can still draw, but he would get creamed today.
