Surprised no one has made mention of Scioscia 's suicide squeeze call. I thought this was a BAD BAD call.
Dude, there are people saying he should be fired on that call alone. And believe me, it was quite the chatter round the old water cooler at work.

I meant no one here, but yeah, I hear ya.
Bad move, and I didn't e even think about the fact that Chone was on deck.
BTW - I know Chone is a catalyst and he should be inserted in the game somehow, but for how long are they going to go with his hands of stone at 3rd...hell, Jackass was complaining about this YEARS ago.

Very good game tonight.
Watching these games in Hi Def has changed my experience forever.

Same here. It was so nice watching it in HD.
Awesome game last night. Should be two more epic battles tonight. I have a feeling the Rays/Sox clash is going to be one for the ages.

I have a feeling the Rays will just roll over and die, and the Sox are going to win 8 straight.

I hope you're wrong Balls, but I have the same gut feeling.

It's not about an anti-jinx. It's about how what I don't want to happen, happens.
I wish Knoblauch would just bet on the Sox.

Doesn't work that way.
Now that you mentioned it, the Sox WILL win 8 straight. Way to will the Red Sox to back to back titles Balls.

I call it like it is. Obama's up 5. That's a landslide. And with every point the Dow drops, his chances to win the White House go up. 2008---not a good year.

I like the Rays chances against the Sox with Wakefield going.
Last time the Rays faced Wakefield, they waited on him, made adjustments and did well.
Of course, on NESN last night they were optimistically predicting that Wakefield now counter-adjust. I call malarky.....how exactly does Tim Wakefield counter-adjust to anyone? Is he going to all of a sudden break out a 90 mph fastball and a good slider? Gimme a break...look for the Rays to tee-off on Wake.

Glad to see the Dodgers go. Not that I want the Phillies to win, but for reasons previously stated, I'm happy that at least a team that belongs in the playoffs is going to be the champion.

You know...by Balls logic, they shouldn't even have a World Series. The Angels should be the 2008 MLB Champions.

Well, no, the only reason the Phillies are in the playoffs is because the 1979 Baltimore Orioles weren't pulled into the future through a hole in time.
The only reason they are in the playoffs is because the Japanese haven't finished rebuilding cyborg versions of the 27 Yanks.
The only reason the Phils are in the playoffs, as I just pointed out, is Space-Time continuum mismanagement and lollygagging on the Japanese.
The Yankees are better because if the Yankees were in the NL they would be 160-0, with Hughes and Kennedy going 80-0 each with an era that doesn't exist.
Yankees are better than the team that will win the World series. That team shouldn't be there. Yankees should. Yanks are better.

I disagree grover. I think if the Yankees were in the NL they'd have been 146-14. Kennedy and Hughes would have gone 0-14.

No. The NL is totally inferior. They have never been good. They are not tough like the AL who are too afraid to don't let their pitchers hit.

Pitchers hitting is stupid. That's not fear, that's brains. The AL figured that out 35 years ago. The NL is 35 years behind the curve.
And the Yanks wouldn't be 146-14 in the NL. They play 162 games, so they would be 148-14.
Geez.

The DH is for faggots.
Let's reward a hitting who can't field by giving him an easy gig. Faggot shit. Only people who are on the field defending should hit. Pitching hitting adds a solid dimension to the game. More brains, which is what you wouldn't want Balls because you're too worries about teams who are better than the Yankees winning and naming stadiums after Rosco P. Coltrane.

Balls thinks the DH is stupid. Balls, even MLB has admitted that the DH was nothing more than a gimmick invented to fabricate more offense in order to increase public interest.
It has nothing to do with preserving the health of the pitchers....and anyone knows that factoring a pitcher into your lineup (as NL managers must) creates a whole new element to "strategerizing."
I'm not saying I wish to get rid of the DH...in fact I like it...but to categorize it as anything but gimmick to artificially inflate offense is inaccurate. It's not even as legitimate a facet of the game as the three point shot is in basketball. It's more analogous to the penalty shot in hockey or the "free kick" in soccer.....or the little bumper that occasionally pops up in between your flippers on some pinball machines.
