Tom is so anti-Yankee, that he has now stooped to making stuff up. At no point did I ever say Wang deserved the Cy Young, not even on the day he faced Beckett. His ERA was way too high. Just because Tom is foolish enough to think wins are the only stat that matter, doesn't mean everyone else is as foolihardy.
Wang has the same number of wins as Sabathia you idiot.
Sabathia bests Beckett in every category. How can you legitimately argue Beckett deserves it more?
At best, you can make an argument that he deserves it as much, but that's just based on the one win. It's not that strong of an argument.
Of course, Tom is so anti-Yankee, Wang could put up Gibson in 1968 numbers and he would still argue for Beckett.

I already said this very thing. I put them both in the same class, and even threw a THIRD name in there, Lackey.
Pay attention to what other people say, you tard.

I did pay attention, but if you paid attention to what I said, and not to the stuff you made up, you would see I said the same thing--you fag.

I was about to ask if that was a joke, or a Popsian mistake. Then I looked at who started the thread and got my answer.

Its not just one catagory. Beckett top Sabathia in more than one; Sabathia has allowed more Hits, Runs, Earned Runs, and Home Runs. The margin might be razor thin, but Becks gets the nod in my book, BoSock or not.

You can't really go by that. The guy pitched about 40 more innings, so that's going to happen.

So, if the Sox had won that 162nd game of the season that meant nothing - Beckett would have a better case because his team wasn't TIED for the best record?

Not at all. I don't think a team's record matters too much for Cy Young purposes. Actually, I would even go as far to say it's more impressive for a pitcher that wins games for a shit team because they don't have the offense backing them up.
To show how razor thin--check out the WHIPs of these guys. Beckett-1.14117. Sabathia--1.14107.
It really is a pickem.

Lets not forget Lackey in all this. Better ERA, 19 wins. He'll split the vote.

Lackey has a higher WHIP than both of them. Not that he doesn't deserve serious consideration, but I put Lackey a small step behind the two frontrunners.
Lackey is in league with Carmona. Better ERA than the front runners, but higher WHIP.
There were some good pitchers in the AL this year.

Why dont you take your WHIP and stick it up your butt. Stop throwing all this sabermetric bullcrap at me. Bottom line, Lackey gave up less runs than both, and had comparable stats in other nickel and dime sort of areas. Funny how you are hitting us with WHIP now, and all these lollygag comparisons, when up until a couple of weeks ago you were all touting Wang and his laughable strikeout numbers.

I don't know why you want me to stick anything up my butt. The homo crack earlier wasn't meant to be literal you know. It's not about sabermetrics. I'm not big on that either. WHIP is actually a simple number, no harder to analyze than Ks or ERA. Walks/Hits per innings pitched.
And I do tout Wang. You're the only moron who hasn't acknowledged how good he is because he doesn't strike enough people out. Wang is a very good pitcher. I never said he should be Cy Young. Never even thought it.
I just am not subscribing to your flash in the pan theory. And you still think Cano is shit too.

Tampa's Carlos Pena was named AL Comeback Player of the Year (.282 average, 42 homers, 121 RBIS) - and Dmitri Young nabbed the honor in the National League (.320, 13 homers, 74 RBIs)
Its funny, when the Yankees dabbled with Pena a few years ago Balls went bezerk, ripping him as a nothing and a nobody, as stuanchly as I was defending him. Well, the guy is flourishing, as predicted. Fantastic player.

There's a reason you become Comeback Player of the Year--it means you sucked before that.
The guy has one good year and Tom actually thinks he's good. One good year does not make a career, especially when 142 Ks are involved. I don't care how many HRs you hit, if you have more Ks than hits, no thanks.
I'm thrilled the Yanks passed on him. They're a better team as a result.

Reggie Jackson - career stats...
2584 hits, 2597 Ks
To quote Balls, "no thanks!"

That didn't happen in a Yankee uniform, ass. 661 hits, 573 Ks. I realize you live to badmouth Reggie, but his stats were hurt dramatically because he played 5 years too long. You probably are dumb enough to think he was a .262 hitter.
The only number Tom ever sees in homeruns. That's why he likes one dimensional shitheads.
Now he's comparing Carlos Pena to Reggie Jackson.

Sabbathia beat out Beckett for the Cy Young (crock of shit, and I hate Beckett), and Wang didn't get a single vote:
AL voting Pitcher 1st 2nd 3rd Total Sabathia, Cle 19 8 -- 119 Josh Beckett, Bos 8 14 4 86 John Lackey, L.A. 1 5 16 36 Others receiving votes: Fausto Carmona, Cle, 7; Erik Bedard, Bal, 1; Roy Halladay, Tor, 1; Johan Santana, Min, 1.

Why? If you look at Sabathia's numbers, and the fact that the regular season is all that is considered, it's close, but the edge is too Sabathia. That said, despite that, Beckett certainly showed who belongs on the mound when the playoffs hit. '
I wouldn't call it an outrage. And Boston fans can just live with the championship, which is more important anyway.

By the way, before I get ripped, in no way was I suggested that Wang deserved to win the award, but he did win 19 games. I'm really stunned he got nothing.
