The Giants deserve their own thread. We don't talk a lot of Giants football here, but fuck it. I haven't been this happy with the Giants since Super Bowl XXV.
And I hadn't wanted a win so badly since then either. Hell of a game yesterday, but I don't think the score really showed what happened. I was actually very frustrated throughout, because the Giants were dominating the game and couldn't put it away.
The Packers scored 20 points. But 17 of those points were stupid. One guy gets beat on one play for a TD. They stop the bastards on 3rd and long, and get a penalty that costs them a TD. They INTERCEPT a ball and fumble it on their own 20 for 3.
For all the talk about how the Packers don't lose at home in January, and how the cold was going to affect Eli, the Giants really did a lot better than the score showed.
Gotta give props to the defense though. They came up with 2 three and outs and an interception in the last 3 GB possessions. And Eli played very well.
Yet when that second field goal missed with time running out, I was sickened. I can't believe they STILL won the game.
When I saw the OT attempt was going to be 47 yards, I was thinking, "no chance after missing the other two." Weird how that works.
I did NOT want to have to root for Green Bay in the Super Bowl. Fortunately, I won't have to.
I haven't been this happy over a Giants win in 17 years. Wow that's a long time.

I didn't think Tynes would make the 47-yarder, either. But the game should have never gone to OT. I wasn't rooting for the Giants, but they completely outplayed Green Bay.

No doubt. I'm sure it could be considered comparable to when they beat the 49ers in the NFC Championship game to go to Super Bowl XXV, but this game wasn't as good. The 49ers played much better than the Packers, and that was just a classic game where consistency and tough defense won out.

Great game. Just a great game and I couldn't be happier about it. Unlike the last appearance in the big game, call me crazy, but I think the Giants actually stand a better chance of winning this time.

I hope so. They are playing like a Cinderella team. It would be an upset if they win, but I'm hoping.

An upset for sure. But given the way they've been playing, I don't know that anyone would be floored if the Giants were able to pull it off.
I don't know what the spread is now, but I imagine when it's kickoff time, it won't be the 14.5 that the Chargers got.

AS OF RIGHT NOW THE SPREAD IS ALSO A WHOLE 14.5 LIKE THE CHARGERS GAME

Oh come on....the Giants have to be considered better than a Chargers team with an injured Rivers, LT, and Gates.
I guess they're trying to drive up the bets...even if I weren't a Giants fan, if I were a gambler that's a bet I'd jump all over.

So I guess the big story today is Brady walking around with a boot on his leg. Makes me feel it's a hoax or a mind game. Something like that is too good to be true.

As a JETS fan I'm Jealous. The Giants always sneak into the Super bowl every 5 years. I'm happy when the Jets sneak into the playoffs and get a win. The Giants played good and deserved to win Good Luck to the Giant fans

Couple of things. The "boot" thing is no great shakes. Obviously Brady underwent the works the day after the game, and was probably just upkeeping on the ankle/foot. From what I heard bandied today on the radio in the little time I heard sports talk (which I normally avoid) its not uncommon, or even something to gasp about. If it was, he would not be parading it around in public.
As to the spread, its moving. In fact, one current poll on an ESPN sorta site (not sure which sports site, but one of em) had the "Giants winning a close game" as the leading pick in a result query (with over 40% of the picks) - and more fans flat-out were picking the Giants than the Pats, for what that is worth.

That's probably because they like that spread. The Brady boot thing is too good to be true. They're probably going to play it up so that if he has a good game he's a superhero, and if he has a bad one, he has an excuse.

Balls, the Pats dont need any of that Hollywood stuff. They are 18-0 this season, for Christs sake. They just want to play the game, I'm sure.

What does a bad game mean for the Pats they win by 3 again instead of 20. I agree with Tom they are 18 and 0 I don't think they need an excuse or ways to make Brady look good. If they lose there season and being perfect is over. I don't think they want to make distractions for the team.

I hear you, though it does add to the legend. I'm just being a cynic. Brady pulling a Joe Theisman would be awesome. But I expect he'll be fine.

Add to the legend? 19-0 will do quite enough for the legend, thank you very much. Stop being the stupid kind of Giant fan. Just hope to go out and win the game, and stop with the nonsense, mind-games, and imagined conspiracies on the part of the LAST team that needs to play that game.

I'm sure you're right. It's like winning the lottery. Bottom line is I hope the Giants kick the living shit out of these guys.

Um, so why is it a question as to wether or not Jeremy Shockey will be on hand, rooting his teammates on? I would have thought it was a given. Yet in the POST guys like Serby are begging him to show up. I dont understand why he has not been around for the team for any of these games.....I understand rehab and all, but give me a friggin break here....
What is keeping him home? Anyone? Hello?

From what I read in the Post, he's on crutches, and being on the sidelines is not only contrary to his rehab, it could be dangerous. No one on the team is even concerned about it, so the Post is really just making something of nothing.

The guy's on crutches and can't move. Why would he hang out on the sidelines of a football game in that kind of cold. It's common policy for guys on IR not to be there.

Fair enough on last game, but he still could have managed it. Your life does not end, and you lay in bed all day, cause you are on crutches. Hell, sit in the lockerroom and watch the game on TV, and be there for your teammates for the experience. But there is NO excuse to not be there for the Super Bowl.
He's probably still pissy that the team is obviously not revolving around him, the selfish prick.

I think it's more important to the team that he continue his rehab than play cheerleader. I really don't think anyone is concerned.

Hey, don't forget that their honorary captain, that Iraq vet who lost both his legs was on the sidelines in a wheel chair in the cold and had no problems, try convincing him that it's "dangerous"

I hate defending that white-trash tattoo-covered loudmouth sack of shit, but it's Giants team policy (several other teams, too) that injured players not make road trips. I assume, however, that the Super Bowl is a different animal.

I didn't get that one either. But fuck it. Maybe it was an arrogance on their part, thinking that they wouldn't need it. Who cares? They are the Super Bowl losers now.
